    Well CS5's ship has sailed.
CS6 can still be purchased on Perpetual License but it's not going to have all the bells & whistles that the current versions have.  Just as long as you understand what you're getting.

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your iPod. Only if you back up your device manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your iPod for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the device for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • How can I update from 3.6.13 since I don't have Intel to download 4.

I'm having some problems since I don't have a newer version than 3.6.13. I can't update to Version 4 since I don't have an Intel. Can anyone tell me if I can update to a version newer than 3.6.13?
    I appreciate your help.

With Mac OS X 10.4 and below you can not upgrade to Firefox 4.0, nor with a Mac 10.5 without Intel.
So it is 3.6.17 that you want to download. You are too far behind to trying to use updates, the reason you are behind is that the update is probably stuck.
To download the latest 3.6 version (3.6.17) start at http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older.html and download the latest version. At the completion of the download don't let the setup start Firefox for you, when the setup ends, start Firefox in your normal manner this way you will be less likely to create a new profile.
The extra startup pages are temporary -- read them. The next time Firefox comes up you should be back to starting with your normal home page.
Note: Firefox must be down once the install starts.
Close Firefox with File>Exit. Then make sure Firefox is not running --
On Windows: check the "Processes" tab in the Windows Task Manager.
On Mac: Firefox > Quit then Command+option+Esc, if Firefox running use Force quit
    Permission errors on Mac:
If you were getting permission errors on a Mac, download the latest
Firefox version, then uninstall and reinstall Firefox. Do not remove
your profile directories and files as they contain your settings,
bookmarks, history, extensions, passwords, and cookies.

  • How can i downgrade from os x 10.9 to 10.7 without time machine

can i downgrade from os x 10.9 dirrectly to 10.7?

You should start a new topic thread, so as to get more exposure
to your question; this is suggested due to the status of where you
posted your item (now answered) will see fewer people with any
answer; mostly those seeking answers like their own question.
If your MacBook Pro shipped with a system later than the
DVD version OS X 10.6 you have, the disc would not work.
However, if the DVD you have is the Original OS X version
the MacBook Pro came with, you could use it in much the
same way as it worked before installing Mavericks 10.9.x
By 'reverting' to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 you will essentially lose all
of the content on the hard disk drive. I am not certain if you could
even import anything from a 'time machine' device that had been
created under the newer Mavericks 10.9 system. Since you have
to boot the computer with the install DVD for 10.6, and erase the
hard disk drive, reformat it to GUID and HFS+ (whatever default
for Snow Leopard) and that would remove the Recovery partition
on the computer's hard disk drive, and any other partitions.
Insert the Snow Leopard DVD into the optical drive, and restart
while holding the C key down, until the Installer disc is running
the computer; this would be rather slow, as it reads from the DVD
in order to build the Installer desktop, and access files to attempt
an installation. It may also be testing the hard disk drive, etc.
Once the computer is booted from the SL 10.6 install DVD, you
can look into the Utilities menu (in top of screen, like in Finder
desktop) to choose Disk Utility from the drop-down menu, and
once you launch Disk Utility, note there are sections within it
to choose from. You can choose Secure Erase (single pass) if
you want to have the utility overwrite zeros on the entire HDD.
This a bit longer then a basic erase & install. It wipes everything.
If not, choose to erase all Partitions and be sure it does this.
Afterward you would need to be sure it reformats the hard drive
with a correct partition map & file type. GUID & HFS+ journaled.
The tools are in the Disk Utilty that you run prior to the Installer
itself, as there are options in the menu just like Finder desktop.
Once the hard drive is erased, partition mapped, & reformatted,
it should be easy to put an all-new system 10.6 on the hard drive.
(That is, if the OS X DVD you have is a retail version, and if your
computer shipped with a system older than the one on that DVD.)
Should you choose to, an idea some suggest prior to upgrade
and also prior to downgrade, is to make a full clone of the system
that is running the computer on an externally enclosed hard disk
drive (see carbon copy cloner, or superduper, clone utilities) so
as to have a complete running system that can boot the Mac...
If you had one of these prior to upgrading to Mavericks, it would
be able to run your computer without re-installing. You could just
use the clone utility, again, to clone it back to the wiped Mac HD.
Or run Snow Leopard from the external, at a slightly slower rate
given the USB 2.0/3.0 to an external is slower than bus speed.
Not sure if this helps. However you may benefit from more
exposure to your question in a new topic thread, and that
could be in Snow Leopard, Mavericks, or this ASC section.
There are advantages to posting in an OS X named topic
since people with all kinds of supported Mac would see it.
Hopefully you can revert, and also have some kind of a way
to make a backup of any works you may need a copy of.
The applications in Snow Leopard, older than Mavericks,
may not like to handle files made with newer software.
Though there is a cost to set up the ability to make and use
full bootable system clones, the external drive, time, learning
and testing the idea to see if you can master it before erasure,
the results are worth the effort; since you then have a backup.
A full backup, and it is a manual effort to make this kind, unlike
    the 'time machine' bits and pieces, this can bring back the Mac;
if used with a time machine backup, too, could be opportune.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How can I transfer from iPod (16GB) to new computer (Windows 7) without erasing iPod?

My old computer (Windows 7) died and I have a new computer (Windows 7). I had my iTunes library backed up, but I can't get it to work on my new computer. Is there a way to transfer what is on my iPod Touch (16 gb) to my new computer without losing it on the iPod?

Not with iSync, that's for sure. You should post your question in an appropriate iTunes forum here:

  • How can I change the main computer I sync my iPhone to without losing my app data?

I used to sync my iPhone 4 to the family computer because it is a mac, but I recently moved out and need to sync it with my computer (a pc). I know I will lose all my music and video content but is there a way to prevent the loss of my app data? I do not see anywhere I can transfer information besides purchases made on the phone. It would appear iTunes will not let me back up data onto a computer that I do not already sync with. Any ideas?

By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time. Any attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first erased from your phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature and cannot be overridden. Because you re replacing your computer, your phone will see this computer as a "new" computer. The itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone. If you have photos that were synced to your phone or music ripped on your own that were not backed up, you will first have to extract them from your phone using third party software, before you do anything else, as Apple makes no provision to do so:
    http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.php
Once you've done that, do the following in the order specified:
    1. Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under Preferences>Devices in itunes(under the edit menu if using Windows).
    2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in the supported applications(Outlook, Windows Address Book) on your computer. These entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
    3. Connect your phone, iTunes running, do not sync at this point.
    4. Store>Authorize this computer.
    5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on your phone will be in your itunes library).
    6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
    7. Right click again and select backup.
    8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
    9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding your contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
You should be good to go.

  • How can I save a Flash or .swf file in AVI format without losing quality?

How can I save a Flash or .swf file in AVI (or another video) format without losing quality?

As long as you don't have code in your animation then just hit File->Export->Export Movie, then configure the options.
Here's an article on exporting sound, images and video. Just skip on down to exporting AVI and it explains the process. The codec is in the Video Compression section. When you click Settings for Video Compression, the codec is in the drop-down at the top. There's various kinds but to get lossless quality AVI you'll have to choose Uncompressed / None for full quality. Again, the file will be huge and you'll need to use another program (like Adobe Media Encoder) or Microsoft Windows Media Encoder, etc, depending on what format you intend to compress it ultimately.

  • How can I sync my iPhone 4 with a new MacBook Pro without losing all my data and settings?

I used to sync my iPhone 4 with a PC running Windows XP until the hard drive died. Thankfully, I already had a backup of all my iTunes media (Songs, TV Shows, Movies, Podcasts, Apps, etc), so when I bought a new MacBook Pro, transferring my iTunes library was easy.
My problem now is that I want to sync my iPhone 4 with my new MacBook Pro without losing all the data and settings. I have already used iTunes to back it up and transfered my purchases onto the mac. I just need help to sync the iPhone with the Mac without losing app data, emails, contacts, settings.
Everytime I click on the tabs (to sync contacts, apps, music, et al), I get an error message that reads:
"Are you sure you want to sync apps? All existing apps and their data on the iPhone “Ryan's iPhone” will be replaced with apps from this iTunes library."
What do I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ryan
