How can you stop a picture from going to Photostream?

Hi,
Please pardon the delicate nature of this question..it is not meant to be salacious.
However, I cannot figure out WHY anyone would use photostream. Like any number of normal people, my IOS device might ocassionally take pictures that I do not want to be uploaded to photostream, and certainly NOT shared with other family devices.
As I understand it, If I have Photostream enabled, any time I take a picture with my IOS device, I have NO WAY to stop it from going immediately to photostream or being synced on other computers or IOS devices?!?
Given this beheavior, and my understandign of how it works, why would anyone ever sync their photos to Photostream?
Aren't there a LOT of instances where you might be using your phone to take pictures that you do not want shared with family devices?
For example, I use my iPhone for research in stores...I see a gift idea, I take a quick picture. Now I have the price, the name of the item, where I found it, and all that great info. I do this ALL THE TIME. However, I certanly wouldn't want my gift research to get synced with my home mac, where someone might see it and ruin a surprise.
I have not yet enabled Photostream because there doesn't seem to be any way I have read about to Stop a photo from being shared, other than to simply never use the service.
IS there a workaround?

What you probably need to remember is that the iCloud account is intended to be a personal account not one that is shared between all devices belonging to the same family.
If you have no use for photo stream at all, then I suggest you do as you do now, and keep it turned off all of the time. If however you have occasional uses for it, photos taken on your device will only sync with photo stream when photo stream is turned on, so you'll have the ability to take photos without them being synced to all your devices, if you wish to do so.

    while True:
and just indent everything else under it
    Ends when you press ^C.
if you wish to have a way to break out of the loop, say, when you press enter at the VPC number without entering anything, add the following after your vpc input:
    if not vpc:
    break
which will break out of the while loop and end your program.

How can i stop my picture from flipping when I take it on the front camera? Need help as it's frustrating me:(

Hmm...Double click on the Home button and try to delete the camera app then launch it again that should fix it. You can also turn off your phone and turn it back on again.

  • How can I stop my screen from going on and off when I play games ?

HOw can I stop my screen from going on and off all the time when I touch it.

Maybe it is a hardware problem, but you will not know that unless you start eliminating all possible software issues. Try this. Close all apps in the recents tray and reboot your iPad.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • How can I stop my ipod from going to my picture library when connected to my computer?

A week or so ago I clicked the option that was saying "Transfer photos from ipod to computer" under the "What should this device do" option thing when you first connect your ipod to your computer. I have windows 8.1. Anyway, I thought the photo thing was a one time deal and it wouldn't ask me "what to do" again. Usually i ignore it but I did,in fact, have photos to put on my computer that day.
Now every time I plug my ipod into my computer it takes me to my picture library to start "reading" my ipod photos and if you have windows 8 or greater, that is very annoying because it's its own separate "application". Is there a way to reset this setting without resetting my ipod so it doesn't take me to my picture library each time? I can deal with the pop-up when you first connect I just don't wanna have to keep exiting my picture library each time I connect my ipod.

It's simply called Photos and there is no options/setting thing on it. I have windows 8, it's a stand alone photo library viewer.

  • How can I stop my Macbook from going to sleep whilst I load the operating system (10.5) on?

I'm trying very unsuccessfully to reinstall the system from scratch, so that I have a clean computer. I'm starting with 10.5 and then going to upgrade in increments from that to the last operating system the computer will run, which is 10.6.8.
Firstly I've wiped the hard disk in Disk Tools and then started it up from the master disk of 10.5, and its telling me it will take 64 hours and some minutes to install, so I can't keep moving the mouse to stop it going to sleep for that long.
I know it sounds as though something is wrong, but I have run both Disk Tools and Tech Tool Pro through it and both say there's nothing wrong with either the computer or the hard disk, and it was running fine (if slow - but that's its age!) prior to this clean install.
This computer is the first of the intel Macbooks and is a single core intel processor with 1gb of Ram.
What I need to do is to stop it going to sleep during the install, as every time it does it just halts the install and over night, for instance, I'm no further forward than I was the night before, even though I left it going all night.
All I'm trying to do is get it to 10.6.8 so that I can run Bootcamp on it and turn it into a PC to do my accounts (and no, the software we use only runs on PC, but Paralles, VMWare Fusion etc still make it painfully slow to use, and It's bad enough having to do accounts without having to wait for it to do every move...)
I can't go straight to 10.6 as the only copies we have of this are "drag and drop" upgrades that Apple supplied with 3 of our other Macs. Also the computer won't read dual layer DVDs (too old) so I can't load the full copy we have made of the OS.

It's simply called Photos and there is no options/setting thing on it. I have windows 8, it's a stand alone photo library viewer.

  • How do you stop all devices from going off when one is being called?

After most recent update for apple, all my devices are going off at the same time when only one is where the call is gong to. I have 2 iPhones, 3 iPads and an iPad mini and one newer iPod. Is there a way to stop this? It is kind of a pain.

Go to Settings > FaceTime and turn "iPhone Cellular Calls" to off on each device. It is a feature of Continuity: Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support

  • How can I stop my phone from going into the lock screen while talking on it? (New issue with ios 6)

Prior to ios 6, I could talk on my phone and have the mute button available. Now it goes into lock mode while speaking on the phone. This is terribly annoying when on conference calls and you want to mute/unmute, or just hang up a call. I now have to swipe to unlock, go to phone, and hang up or unmute. I've tried upping my timeout, but that just delays the inevitable.

Yep, it's a pain.  What's even more concerning is that at the Genius Bar, he was trying to tell me that this is the was it was supposed to be, so they probably fixed it in OS 6.  He said it is for people that are using "Bluetooth" and want to keep the phone in their pockets".  Ridiculous!  What compounds the issue is that the Apple Reps have no clue as to what's going on, and either do the senior tech's on the phone.  As I said in my message, this has made it very cumbersome, and makes it very difficult for those who need to use wired headsets.

  • SMF - How can you stop a service from automatically restarting

    Hi all,
The subject header says it all. Is there a way of doing this. My users do not want an application we have to restart automatically if the process dies.
    Cheers

Then what do you want? The default is 3 restarts before it goes into maintenance. You could change that to 0 probably.
Otherwise if you're going to manage it manually, perhaps you don't want it to be an SMF service in the first place. Just run a startup script instead.

  • Is it possible for your iphone to be hacked so that someone can text message people in your contacts (and send pictures)? If so can you trace the hack and how can you stop it?

Is it possible for your iphone to be hacked?so that someone can text message people in your contacts (and send pictures)? If so can you trace the hack and how can you stop it?

As has been said, the iPhone itself can't be hacked this way, as far as anyone currently knows.
Your Apple ID is another story. Any kind of online accounts can be hacked, and Apple IDs are no exception. If someone hacks your Apple ID, they could see all the data in the associated iCloud account, such as contacts, and could send those contacts texts that would appear to come from you. If that were to happen, you should see an alert on your other devices that your Apple ID is being used with Messages on a new device.
If you have not seen that alert, it's unlikely that this problem is occurring due to such a hack. In that case, it would be more likely that either someone has gotten their hands on your phone, or some other Apple device registered to your Apple ID, and has used it to send that message. Or that the person claiming you sent a picture is lying for some reason.
If you believe your Apple ID may have been hacked, you should change your password immediately (at appleid.apple.com). You should also seriously consider enabling two-factor authentication on your Apple ID.
