How come it takes 15 or 20 minutes to load, always with a script error?

Every time I try to boot up Firefox it takes between 15 to 20 minutes and it always comes up with a notice that script will not load. This is much to long and cumbersome. What can I do?

I have the same problem. I am running firefox 5.1, and I just started having this problem a week or so ago. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and that didn't help. I've uninstalled it again, and I just won't use it anymore if I can't find out what the problem is and fix it.

I finally unplugged the ATV and plugged it back in and it fixed itself. Thank you. Don't understand why the update reboot did not do this automatically.

Every page I load takes more than a minute to load - clicking anywhere gives message that firefox is not responding. I don't like this version, it sucks - tabs are not defined well, can barely see them.

for instance, if I load www.msnbc.com it will take more than a minute to fully load in that if I click on a link or try to scroll, the entire browser locks up, if I try to scroll, or click on the page, I get the message that the program is not responding.

If you've updated from a version as ancient as 3.5.4, then you run the risk of encountering problems. You should start with a fresh profile to ensure old preferences, data files and changes made by extensions are not interfering.
First, create a backup copy of your profile folder, just to be safe.

Do not reinstall old versions of Firefox. They contain security vulnerabilities and shouldn't be used. I upgraded to Mtn. Lion last night but now it takes forever to boot up. I get to the desktop and my wallpaper is there, but the items on my desktop take more than 5 minutes to load. It's a ridiculously long time. Can I fix it somehow?

As I said, I upgraded my MacBook Pro (2011) from Lion to Mountain Lion last night. This morning I couldn't get it to boot up at all. The beach ball just spun and spun. Now I can get it to my desktop and can see my wallpaper, but it takes another FULL five minutes to finish loading my desktop items. Can I do anything to speed this up? It's a ridiculously long time to wait. I haven't even tried opening any applications yet.

-> click the Favicon (small drop down menu icon) on Firefox SearchBar (its position is on the Right side of the Address Bar) -> click "Manage Search Engines" -> select unwanted search engines and click Remove -> click OK
-> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extensions section -> REMOVE any Unwanted/Suspicious Extensions (Add-ons) -> Restart Firefox
You can enable your Known & Trustworthy Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working.

How come that the design mode looks different than preview mode with slideshows?

I am placing a slideshow on the site. when I look in the preview mode the slideshow is not exactly in the same place.
How come? Am I doing somthing wrong?

Welcome to the medium that is the web. Every browser has it's own text layout engine and "web-safe" fonts are a misnomer. You cannot rely on text line breaking the same in different browsers. Thus creating text frames that snuggly fit the text within is likely to result in what's occurring on your site in some browsers or browser versions.
As a general rule, you should attempt to use Web Fonts whenever you can. Use "Web Safe" fonts as a second choice. And only use System fonts as a last resort and only for small amounts of text (since they become an image when output).
If you want a specific portion of text to absolutely never go to two lines, you'll want to put it in a text frame that significantly wider than the text so when the line length varies the text doesn't wrap to a new line.
"Web Safe" fonts are not a single font but actually a list/stack of fonts where the browser goes through the list until it finds a font that's available on the current viewer's device. The fonts in the list/stack are similar in visual appearance and font metrics, but any difference in font metrics is sufficient to result in changes in line breaks, so when using web safe fonts you need to account for much larger variations in line length and line breaking than will occur when using a Web Font.

IPhoto '08 takes 1 1/2 minutes to load.

When I open iPhoto it takes one and a half minutes to load. Then a box pops up asking me if I want more information about iLife '09. I clicked on the box " to not ask me again". iphoto still is taking over a minute to open. Any suggestions?

in the iPhoto preferences turn off sharing and set look for new photos on the web to manually - quit in event view so iPhoto will open in event view each time

Thanks for your email. I was able to download and install this morning without any problems. I uninstalled the old version yesterday and restarted my computer but still got errors. However when I turned off last night, windows ran updates and that must of fixed the problem. I also got rid of firefox and put of google chrome. All to use Australia Posts click and send which wouldn't work because of an error with the plugin. Thanks for your very quick reply, I appreciate your help. Have a great day. How come it takes so long to recognize ipod...

after docking? It take about 5 minutes before my ipod shows up in itunes. I just got a PB and I don't remember it ever taking so long when I use to use my PC.

When you migrate your iPod from a PC to a Mac (or vice versa), you should use the iPod Updater (found under Applications > Utilities) and restore the iPod. In the process, the iPod volume will be reformatted with Tiger's native file system. This article describes the steps in detail:

This will erase all your music, photos etc. from the iPod, so make sure you've already transferred all of this to your Mac for re-syncing with the iPod.

How come Firefox takes 10 min. to open?

My computer is running WinVista Home Premnium, x86, 2GB RAM. I've tried using Firefox Preloader, but that doesn't work. I tried using firefox.exe -Prefetch:1 and using firefox.exe -ProfileManager, but that doesn't work either. Somebody please help me with this issue. Your response is greatly appreciated.

I would recommend trying to start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to see if this fixes the problem. If so, it may be some add-on causing the problem.
A machine with those specs (you don't mention CPU speed/type, but that can't be too bad either I guess) sould never be more than a few seconds about starting Firefox.

I used to love FFox but it now takes up to 2 minutes to load, HELP!

I have AVAST and when I click on FFox, the Avast icon spins for sometimes 2 minutes before FFox opens and then there might be 2 or 3 of it. Why so slow?

This may be due to a way in which Avast is configured. I don't use it so I cannot be specific but I have had problems in the past with antivirus software causing applications to run slowly or not at all.
Avast may be also interfering with extensions if it determines (probably incorrectly) that an extension is displaying unusual behaviour. The Avast icon spinning suggests that Avast is delaying the launch of Firefox by performing some function on the Firefox application as it is launching which is delaying the launch.
Until someone can post here more specific answers, may I suggest:
1) checking in the Avast forums if there are similar problems reported there (there may be a solution posted)
2) making sure that Avast and all your add-ons are updated to the latest versions (in case a fix has been released)
3) follow the instructions at [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes Troubleshooting extensions and themes] to see if an add-on is causing the problem.
4) Temporarily disable Avast or switch to another antivirus program to see if Avast is the source of the problem rather than Firefox.
[http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+hangs#Hang_at_exit Firefox+hangs#Hang_at_exit] suggests Avast causes problems when used with Zone Alarm as firewall. It may be causing similar problems for you whether or not you have Zone Alarm.

How come my local variable is not updating it's value with respect to what's happening in the while loop?

I am trying to extract data out of a while loop as my declarations update with respect to the iteration number. I have attempted to use both local variables and shift registers, but with no luck.
I have also done the following example: http://www.ni.com/white-paper/7585/en and it works like a charm.
I attached the PNG file with local variable declaration circled in red. Will attach a VI in the next respnose.

Can you explain what it is supposed to do? What's the purpose of the value property node read which only seems to update an indicator.
The inner while loop should proably be a FOR loop, because the number of iterations is known before the loop starts.
Your use of formula nodes seems overly complicated.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
