I used to love FFox but it now takes up to 2 minutes to load, HELP!
I have AVAST and when I click on FFox, the Avast icon spins for sometimes 2 minutes before FFox opens and then there might be 2 or 3 of it. Why so slow?
This may be due to a way in which Avast is configured. I don't use it so I cannot be specific but I have had problems in the past with antivirus software causing applications to run slowly or not at all.
Avast may be also interfering with extensions if it determines (probably incorrectly) that an extension is displaying unusual behaviour. The Avast icon spinning suggests that Avast is delaying the launch of Firefox by performing some function on the Firefox application as it is launching which is delaying the launch.
Until someone can post here more specific answers, may I suggest:
1) checking in the Avast forums if there are similar problems reported there (there may be a solution posted)
2) making sure that Avast and all your add-ons are updated to the latest versions (in case a fix has been released)
3) follow the instructions at [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes Troubleshooting extensions and themes] to see if an add-on is causing the problem.
4) Temporarily disable Avast or switch to another antivirus program to see if Avast is the source of the problem rather than Firefox.
[http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+hangs#Hang_at_exit Firefox+hangs#Hang_at_exit] suggests Avast causes problems when used with Zone Alarm as firewall. It may be causing similar problems for you whether or not you have Zone Alarm.

I have an iPhone 3GS and have updated to IOS 6.1. Before with emails there was a user bar at the bottom which allowed you to move emails to folders, print etc, but it now seems to be removed. Can you help ?
Close out of the mail app, double click the home button and completely close out of the mail app.
Then do a reset, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release then wait for the phone to boot back up.

Many still use unsupported ealier versions, and there is no real need to upgrade unless there is a real need.
Unless you have done something like installing new fonts or made other changes, it may be releavnt to look at the following list.

The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Many thanksWhenever a menu choice is grayed out, that is because you have Restrictions turned on in Settings. Be sure to turn it off.
You are confusing an itunes store account with an icloud account. You two can continue using the same ID for itunes (thus sharing purchased music, apps, etc.), but you really should have separate accounts (different IDs) for icloud, since an account is intended for one user to keep his/her devices in sync.
To create a new icloud account, go to

Then go to Settings>icloud and scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Delete Account. (have restrictions turned off) That will disconnect the device from the account but will not delete data in icloud or other devices. Then sign in using the new ID. -
My iMac is less than one year old. Without warning, the screen suddenly goes black. It used to happen ocasionally, but now it happens all the time. Numerous people have posted about this issue. Why hasn't Apple solved the issue. For what I paid my computer, I expected more from the product than I have gotten. I was a PC person for years and most of my associates told me that I needed to get a mac...I am starting to regret having taken their advice.

A few years ago we had a similar issue on one of our machines, it was an early MacBook. Ended up being a cracked circuit connection on the motherboard. Changes in temperature caused the crack to expand and contract resulting in a shut-down followed by an automatic reboot. Sometimes over-and-over. I understood from AppleCare at the time that those symptoms could have also been any number of things including a intermittent issue with a powersupply.
If you take it back to the Apple Store at some point, I would ask them to have it run some CPU intensive tasks that closely resemble what you are doing when the screen goes black. It took us several try's to find the problem. Calling AppleCare each time to discuss it and troubleshoot before making the trips to the Apple Store really moved things along. In fact, it wasn't until the Apple Store had cracked the case from the inside that things kicked into a higher gear and AppleCare phone support sent out a pre-paid FedX package to send it to a refurbishing facility. Never a problem since and I know the people who have the machine today.
PS Can identify with the trip to the Apple Store, our closest one is in Knoxville, 2hrs from us. -
As I said, I upgraded my MacBook Pro (2011) from Lion to Mountain Lion last night. This morning I couldn't get it to boot up at all. The beach ball just spun and spun. Now I can get it to my desktop and can see my wallpaper, but it takes another FULL five minutes to finish loading my desktop items. Can I do anything to speed this up? It's a ridiculously long time to wait. I haven't even tried opening any applications yet.

-> click the Favicon (small drop down menu icon) on Firefox SearchBar (its position is on the Right side of the Address Bar) -> click "Manage Search Engines" -> select unwanted search engines and click Remove -> click OK
-> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extensions section -> REMOVE any Unwanted/Suspicious Extensions (Add-ons) -> Restart Firefox
You can enable your Known & Trustworthy Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working. -

Been nightmarish as all I want is a dial tone and internet!!!! Verizon doesn't seem to want or be able to do that!!!
About 3 weeks ago or so, the nice young man standing on my porch convinced me (again after a previous nightmare experience) to switch to FIOS as the copper lines would soon be unserviceable. Scheduled for FIOS install and agreed to a noon to Pm arrival of the Tech. Online the service ticket changes previously listed arrival to 4-Pm then it changes to 5-Pm. Tech calls at 6m say tied up in traffic and will take 40 mins to arrive. I had to leave so I told him forget it and finally got a call a few days later and put order on hold to explore my options as I was fed up with Verizon. So at this point a couple of hours on the phone and a days wages lost because had to take off from work and the nice lady says to insist on a Verizon tech. next time and not a contractor?!?!?
Now here on the 6/11 NO DIALTONE but DSL OK. Now with over an hour on the phone I finally get to a point of placing a service order. This was after telling them OVER 10 TIMES I AM ON COPPER>>>NOT FIOS. after numerous transfers and then to the "copper dept" I set a service call for 8-11am on 6/12. (remember I now have said COPPER over 10 times). Patricia calls from service to verify and she was very snarky & snotty and did not want to hear COPPER! So on Wed AM guess who shows up??? A FIOS TECH!!!! Can't help me! Online and all the rep's saying FIOS, FIOS ,FIOS and I keep saying COPPER, COPPER, COOPER!
Now....another HOUR + after all the xfers and holds on the phone, I finally get through that I need a COPPER tech. and one is scheduled for this AM between 8-noon. The tech calls at 9:20 and I explain the situation to him. He checks it out an calls me back and says that he can't help me as they disconnected my COPPER because the account shows FIOS (remember FIOS NEVER installed). The tech (Jose) was decent to deal with and instructs me that I need to CANCEL FIOS and tell them I have a phone on copper and to re-activate on copper and there was nothing he could do. I pleaded with him to please fix it from his end so I didn't have to go through more Verizon phone nightmare but alas he was unable to help. I don't curse but I am thinking about it and will soon be doing it profusely after my ensuing encounter with Verizon.
This now takes the cake!!!! So I call and go through all the gyrations explaining the issue and end back up in the sales Dept. Get this now....here it comes......I now have to cancel ALL service and open a totally new account. I now have to Re-establish credit and this after being a customer with the same phone number for OVER 40 YEARS and always paid the bill even with the Verizon billing screwups during the years!!!! I now am REALLY **bleep** as I have to give my DOB and SSN over the phone which I really protest as I am an existing customer with Verizon wireless too!!! I went round and round with the very nice and patient lady (Angela) and asked if there were any way to go to a Dept. head or someone in authority to wave a magic wand and just simply AUTHORIZE the RE-ESTABLISHMENT of the service I had up to the 11th? She tells me nobody has a magic wand and this is the way the system works. Now to add to this I reminded her that I had wireless and had a "One bill" and Uh-Oh....this adds another layer of complexity to the situation and they might not be able to do it,
So now bottom line now as a result of dealing with the monolith Verizon and going with their suggestion and where one hand doesn't know what the other is doing. I have lost THREE DAYS OF WORK and numerous HOURS of Verizon phone hell and still have no dial tone over a simple PAIR OF WIRES!!! I am an innocent VICTIM of of gross incompetence. I know just on little customer out of the millions they have isn't important but Verizon has lost sight of customer service and have forgotten that it is easier to retain a customer than to re-gain them. They forget that a disgruntled customer can influence 10 others. I have growing business needs and be assured I won't be looking at Verizon and this will also extend to those I consult. At this point I am on a search of my options to get Verizon out of my life forever.Hi FishonRB,

Love tb. but it now will not work. Cannot install it either.
opened tb, but everything froze. Rebooted,but same thing over again..Deleted tb, downloaded new one, installed, but half way through, system froze and locked up. Tried again in safe mode, bit no joy. Tb was lost to me. My browser was chrome at the time. Now deleted everything pertaining the Mozilla. I would love to have tb back...Help, Help Tom
I'd start over with a new profile. Close Thunderbird, and move or rename your old profile, then start it again and see if it runs.

I was using my iPod as an external drive for my iPhoto (21gb of photos).. I un-pluged my iPod by mistake (thinking I ejected my camera after a download) and I was hit with a

data might have been lost or damaged."
It said more, but you get the picture.. Now, I've done this by mistake in the past with no trouble, but when I re-opened iPhoto, all of my pics were gone and replaced with a "!" icon.
Is it possible to get my photos back, or am I out of luck??

"iPhoto icon"? Is that the +iPhoto Library+ file inside your Pictures folder? Did you erase the original copy of the library file from your internal hard drive? And the only copy is on your iPod?
This is not really related to using an iPod (as an iPod). If I understand your description, you were using the iPod in the same way as you would an external hard drive. Except that an iPod is a pretty risky storage device on which to store the only copy of anything; you can lose it, break it, or have data corruption on the iPod's hard drive, because an iPod is something that you carry around (and connect and disconnect from your computer all the time).
So hopefully, you have a backup of that +iPhoto Library+ file.
Also, since this in not specifically about using an iPod, you may want to post your question as a topic in the category for iPhoto users.
