How cost;ly it is to get the current system time

I am using this call "System.currentTimeMillis()" to get the current system time. I need to now how costly it is to get the current system time.

Why don't you time it -:) Run it 10000 times and print the first and last result. The difference is the time it took.

    HOW TO DO this logic..

    Hi,
    You can try converting dates into timestamp and compare just like as comparing two integers variables.

  • How to load a class dynamically in the current/system class loader

    I need to dynamically load a new jdbc driver jar to the current/system class loader... Please note that creating a new classloader will not help since the DriverManager refers to the systemclassloader itself.
    Restarting the application by appending the jar to its classpath will solve the problem but I want to avoid doing this.

    Did you then create a ClassLoader to load the JDBC
    driver and then install it into the system as
    directed by the JDBC specification (ie
    Class.forName(someClassName))?
    And then try to use it from a class loaded fromsome
    other ClassLoader (i.e. the system class loader)?
    If you did not try this please explain why not.O.K. I just looked at the source to
    java.sql.DriverManager. I did not know what I was
    talking about, as what I suggested above will not
    work.
    This is my new Idea:
    Create a URLClassLoader to load the JDBC driver also
    in this ClassLoader you need to place a helper class
    that does the following:
    public class Helper {
    public Driver getJDBCDriver(String driverClassName,
    String url) {
    try {
    Class.forName(driverClassName);
    Driver d = DriverManager.getDriver(url);
    return d;
    catch(Exception ex) {
    ex.printStackTrace();
    return null;
    }Now create an instance of the Helper class in the new
    ClassLoader, and call its getJDBCDriver method to get
    an instance of the driver (you will probably have to
    create an interface in the root class loader that the
    Helper implements so that you can easily call it).
    Now from the root classloader you can make calls
    directly to the returned Driver and bypass the
    DriverManager and its restrictions on cross
    ClassLoader access.
    The only catch here is that you would have to call to
    the returned Driver directly and not use the Driver
    Manager.This sounds like will work but I did not want to load DriverManager in a new classloader.. I did a hack
    I unzip the jar dynamically in a previously known location (which I included in my classpath when launching the app). The classLoader finds the class now though it did not exist when the app was launched !
    A hack of-course but works eh ..

  • Get the target system time in the message mapping

    Hi there,
    I need to use the system time of target R/3 system in the message mapping. Any ideas how can I handle this?
    Thanks,
    Igor.

    Thanks for your quick replies.
    XI and R/3 system is in the same timezone but this is not relevant. I know it might sound strange but there is a reason I need to use time in the message mapping which is 2 minutes later than in the target system:
    e.g. target system time: 16:58:32 I need to use 16:56:32 value  in the mapping.
    I found RFC MSS_GET_SY_DATE_TIME which can proide me with the value, just wondering if there is no other way how to do that other than RFC lookup ...
    Thanks,
    Igor

  • Re: incrementing the current system time with 30 minutes

    hi
    in JSPinner i need to display the time but that time should be 30 min greater than system time
    is that possible

    1. Create a GregorianCalendar instance
    2. Use roll() to add 30 minutes
    3. Use getTime() to convert to a Date instance

  • Applescript to get the current insertion point of the cursor

    How do I use Applescript to get the current insertion point of the cursor in a Apple pages.app document?

    Oops, missed that one - you are correct, the line should be:
    <pre title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor" style="font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; font-size: 10px; padding: 5px; width: 720px; color: #000000; background-color: #E0E0E0; overflow: auto">set {TheStart, TheEnd} to character range of the selection</pre>
    I have a wrapper script that I use to insert stuff from my handler/code library into a Script Editor document, and was adapting snippets from that for my examples - I guess that one got away.
    As for the dictionary, some applications just have poorly written or outdated documentation. Some of the items have multiple entries (eg, there may be a selection object for the application and also for the document), and some inherit properties from other items. Some are used as nouns, others as verbs (or both). Sometimes it is easier to visualize the item by keeping track of it's reference - the 'some property of document 1 of the current application' thing. You can use the Script Editor's Event Log to see the results of various properties and commands - for example, the above script will result in the following entry (your numbers will vary depending on the selected text):
    <pre title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor" style="font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; font-size: 10px; padding: 5px; width: 720px; color: #000000; background-color: #E0E0E0; overflow: auto">tell current application
    get character range of selection
    {50, 50}
    end tell
    </pre>
    You can also use the 'log' statement (eg, 'log MyVariable') to add your own entries into the log instead of using dialog boxes.

    Hi,
    event.target.path.toString();  will give the full path including the filename.
    event.target.documentFileName.toString();  will give the filename only.

  • How to get the current path of my application in java ?

    how to get the current path of my application in java ?
    thanks

    To get the path where your application has been installed you have to do the following:
    have a class called "what_ever" in the folder.
    then you do a litte:
    String path=
    what_ever.class.getRessource("what_ever.class").toString()
    That get you a string like:
    file:/C:/Program Files/Cool_program/what_ever.class
    Then you process the result a little to remove anything you don't want:
    path=path.substring(path.indexOf('/')+1),path.lastIndexOf('/'))
    //Might be a little error here but you should find out //quickly if it's the case
    And here you go, you have a nice
    C:/Program Files/Cool_program
    which is the path to your application.
    Hooray

    There are instructions on this page for managing and stopping auto-renewing subscriptions (deleting an app won't stop it) : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4098
    In terms of a refund, what does it say on the app's description page in the store (a lot say that refunds aren't given) ? But you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will refund or credit you : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
