How did symatec virus ad get in my email

Sent myself an email from work to home with a large file attachment. When I opened it at home to read the file, I saw an advertisement for symatec virus protection. How the heck did that happen? Should I toss the whole thing in the trash? I think that I picked up a hacker/virus from symatec. How do they have the right to envade my personal email?? I am using a .mac email account. Hope someone knows what is going on?
thanks

Thanks for your reply. The ad had been somehow embedded in the email that I sent to myself. When I sent the email, it was blank, just a file attachment (that had only text in it) When I opened it later, the attachment was still there and untouched, but the body of the email had an ad from symantec.com. The ad stated;
This message has been processed by Symantec's AntiVirus Technology.
Unknown00000000.data was not scanned for viruses because too many nested levels of files were found.
For more information on antivirus tips and technology, visit
symantec.com
This really bothered me. I do not have this virus protection in my application files. We do have symantec virus protection on a Windows machine (that is part of the network), but it is set to operate in an Wndows environment only. How did my email get corrupted? I send information to myself all the time. This has never happened before. I threw the hole email in the trash, just to be safe (or feel safe), but it creeps me out.
thanks for your help

It sounds as if you downloaded Adobe Acrobat Pro. If you did, uninstall it. Then repair Adobe Reader.
The free Acrobat account has no connection to any of this.

  • I was having issues with my 80G Video iPod and had to restore it, but now it seems all of my music on it previously is "corrupt" . How did all my songs get corrupted and how do I fix them?

I was having issues with syncing my 80G video iPod, so I restored it, and now all my songs in my library are "corrupted" and I can't get them back on my iPod. I keep getting error(-69). How did my songs all get corrupted, and how do I fix this without having to purchase these songs all over again?

Go to the iTunes Store, log into your account, and click the Purchases link under the Quick Links. From there you should be able to re-download some or all of your purchased content. Note that not all content has been licensed for re-downloading in all countries at this time; you can see what content you can download here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085
You can also re-download content using an iOS device.
    For more information, see:

This if course will not apply to songs you did not buy through the iTunes Store.

  • How did my boyfriends iCloud get connected to my phone?

I'm trying to fix my iphone and macbook They are connected to my boyfriends old account. He only had an iPhone like 3 years ago and doesnt own any mac products today. So how did this happen and how do I fix it. When I call others homes on their caller id it says his name not mine and he is no where on my cell account. Anyone know how to correct this that would be great. I mean even the name of my iPhone is his old one. I would really like to fix this. Thank you.

  • How did Adobe Customer Support get so horrible?

Reading through the posts, it seems that I am not alone in my experience.  You pay over $2000 or a software solution, but you cannot get hold of a single person to help you do basic things like install the darn thing.  Endless waiting on hold, being tossed from one department to the next, people you can hardly understand who know nothing more than basic information on their computer screen, and a system that treats you like dirt.  You schedule a call, it happens hours later than promised, and if your call is dropped, you will not get a return call.  You get to start all over again and go back to the end of the line.  In fact, if you get transferred to another department, you also start over.  No way to put you directly through to a person, even though you already waited on hold for 30-45 minutes or more.  And if by some miracle you actually get hold of someone, I guarantee that they will not be able to help you.  Your efforts are wasted, and you have to do it yourself using Google.
Sad to see that Adobe, a company that I used to respect and recommend, sink to become such an embarrassment.

The problem is that when I installed CS5, Acrobat did not install as if did under CS1-4.  Ok, Adobe decided to keep that little fact a secret, but I think I worked through it.  But now, I have no way to create .PDF files from within my programs. Take illustrator for instance. Can I save as a .PDF? No. Can I export to .PDF? No. Can I print to a .ps and convert? Only if I use the .ppd for my little desktop printer and shrink everything to 8.5 x 11.  Where is the .Ppd for .PDF? I tried to download something, but the .sea file is invalid or corrupt. Why isn't PDF integrated anymore?  Why do I have a PDF option (albeit clunky) in some print dialogs, but not others?   If Adobe has decided that I have to use Dustiller, then how do I print a 20x40 .ps file?

  • How did my iPhone 4 get additional free space?

    iPhone 4 on iOS 7.1.
I synced my iPhone 4 to iTunes on a laptop by accident.  I told my iPhone that I didn't trust the computer, and then I unhooked the phone.  But before I did, I noticed on iTunes that I had 1.7 gigs of free space.  On the same day, earlier, I noticed I only had 1.5 gigs.  After I unhooked, I noticed it jumped to 1.9 and stayed on 1.8 gigs.  What the **** happened?  I looked at the apps and non of them were erased as to photos and music.  I checked the emails, text, and voice messages saved, and none of them were erase.
    What happened?
Additional info that may not be related, but...
I am using this app, Battery Doctor, and it told me that I had 1.7 gigs of free space, which was not true when I went to settings/general.  It said 1.5 gigs available.
I did delete a lot of apps the previous day, but I would assume that my iPhone 4 would have caught up to the extact or general ammount of free space I retained.

Cleanfiles? Don't know nor ever used it. I've never used anything on my iPhone that isn't part of the ecosystem. No jailbreak... for now at least.

  • How did my security questions get changed without my knowledge?

Last week, I got an email from Apple Support that my security questions had been "updated."  The questions have been changed, by ?, and I can't answer them.  What happened?

OK thanks. They just get lots of these questions every day, probably thousands.
...  I may have to resign myself to having unanswerable security questions.
That won't work as a long term strategy. You should request iTunes Support reset them for you.
    Go here:
    https://expresslane.apple.com/
Navigate the columns as follows: All Products and Services > iTunes > iTunes Store > Account Management > iTunes Store account security
Answer the questions and if required sign in with your Apple ID and password - same one you used to log in on this support forum.
You will find an option to send an email to Apple on that page. Compose a thoughtfully worded email explaining your dilemma, and politely ask to have your security questions reset. There are over 400 million iTunes account holders and Apple receives a great many of these questions every day, so make sure yours is easily understood.
You will receive a confirmation email immediately. Check your email spam / junk folder for it because a humanoid should respond in a business day or two. You may need to provide some more security-related information before your questions can be reset. These back-and-forth emails may result in a week of correspondence before it is fixed.

  • How did all my music get taken off my phone and put into icloud?

More importantly how do i put it BACK!?

AHA!  you have to be in the Itunes Store App to find your previous purchases and not in the MUSIC app.
No, you don't need to be inTunes to see them or download them.
They show up in the Music app if you go to Settings > Music and tap Show all music.
You don't need to download them to play them. You can stream them (but use data whenever you play them).
Just download them via wifi or sync them form yrou computer.

  • How do I migrate contacts, get rid of email account, and double contacts?

I've noticed that I didn't have iCloud set up and yet iTunes said that my phone was managing my contacts.
I looked and an email account I rarely use was managing my contacts.
I turned on iCloud and turned off that email account and it deleted more than half my contacts. I tried to migrate it by turning on contacts for another email account and suddenly new contacts were only being added under that account, so now I have three accounts managing my contacts and I can't figure out how to just get them all on to my computer and synced (so I don't have doubles) via iCloud. If I stop the contact syncing with those emails, I lose numbers of contacts, but it also means I now have doubles.

go to settings>mail, contacts, calendars>select your old account and scroll down to the bottom till u see delete account in big red button

  • How can i permanently stop getting "no sender" emails on my iPhone?

i have been getting "no sender" messages almost every day through my .me account on my iphone.
the only way to get rid of them is to go into settings on that account and turn the mail off and then back on.
There must be a better way to have things set so this does not keep happening.
Could my icloud be working incorrectly or is someone trying to hack my account?

If I can not set up a second Contacts folder, does anybody have an alternative way of having contact information that a person could see the information from an Outlook Format available for viewing?

You can also call 611.  Good luck.  I know EXACTLY how you are feeling!
That's what I've gotten too. But when I go to the order status page, it is blank. But *611 says 2 business days. But no e-mail. Hoping it comes soon. Gosh I am the most impatient girl ever but I never get like this over technology stuff! Haha
Mine is the same. Hopefully I will get the email soon.

  • How did discussions get THAT email?

I just started using "discussions" today, and have found it very helpful. I was looking around and went to "mu subscriptions." here, i found that my email address was one that i had, like, 3 years ago, which I never use and definitely never indicated as my primary email. How did they get that info.? That old email address is from 2D mail, full of viruses and a terrible email provider. More importantly, how do I change it? This is not the email indicated in my .mac account.

Go here, log in, and change your primary email address. This email address is the one Discussions knows about and sends messages to if you choose to subscribe to an object.

  • I have a long list of gibberish files, in Preferences, in my Library. What are they? How did they get there? Can I delete them?

I have a long list of gibberish files, in Preferences, in my Library. What are they? How did they get there? Can I delete them without causing a problem?

Here is one thing I found googling for WebEx:
    http://www.webex.com/why-webex/overview.html
(The x64 would most likely mean 64 bit). It may be a Windows based application/plugin, but since I had never heard of either, I'm only guessing there. If you do a search systemwide for it and don't find it plus don't know why it's there, I'd say throw it in the trash (don't empty it yet - make a note of the file path just in case you do have something installed that needs it so you can move it back).
Glad to hear it's not a torrent; some people use those not realizing that quite often there is a price to pay for downloading stuff for free that costs money elsewhere - the software packages quite often include little "add-ons" = malware which you really don't want.
