How do I access my Iphoto photos on a different Mac. I saved photos from My Macbook Pro and sold it. Now I want to access those pictures on my desktop Mac. Is this possible?

I saved photos from my Macbook Pro and sold it. Now I want to access those pictures from the Macbook Pro on my desktop Mac. Is this possible?

That would depend on where you saved the photos. I assume they are on an external drive or a cd(s) or DVD or USB drive. Hook whatever device they are on to the desktop Mac, open iPhoto and do an Import to Library from the File menu.

You can go into your pictures folder in your user folder on your old computer and copy the iPhoto Library file (should be fairly large) either directly to the new computer or to an external drive.  Copy the old iPhoto Library over to the new pictures folder on your new computer.  The old iPhoto Library should overwrite the iPhoto Library on your new machine.  When you fire up iPhoto on your new machine, everything should be there in the same form as it was on your old machine.

  • Is possible to transfer photos from a macbook pro to an iphone without itunes or an internet connection?

Is possible to transfer photos from a macbook pro to an iphone 5 without itunes or an internet connection? I'm a pro photographer and I need to transfer photos from my camera, edit them, copy photos to my iphone and send via 4G network to an editor. I will be in a location without internet access and my old computer itunes wont sync with my new iphone 5. I can't upgrade the computer right now because I need some of the old software.  Thanks.

Some decent suggestions for apps to do this in this thread:

  • How do I get photos from my MacBook Pro onto my iPhone?

I have a Macbook Pro and I am wondering how I can easily transfer photos from my MacBook Pro on to my iPhone 3GS?

Because I didn't want, or need, ALL my Photos on my iPhone...
I Created an Album in iPhoto and called it " My iPhone Photos "...
And put just the Photos I wanted into it...
Now when I Sync my iPhone... I just Check / Tick that Album...
    See this Link on Syncing:

The iphone is not a storage/backup device.  The picture sycn is one way - computer to iphone.  The photos are also reduced in size when synced to iphone so they are not of the original quality
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup of your computer.
Have you failed to do this?
If so, not good at all, you can e-mail the pics to yourself - keep in mind they will never be of the original quality

  • Im completely new to Mac. Im swapping my windows laptop for macbook pro and looking for network storage solution which the Time Capsule seems to do. Is it possible to use this as NAS for my desktop Windows PC - windows 7

Im completely new to Mac. Im swapping my windows laptop for macbook pro and looking for network storage solution which the Time Capsule seems to do. Is it possible to use this as NAS for my desktop Windows PC - windows 7

Broadly speaking I want some sort of network storage( wireless or through my existing wifi router) that I can access files for both my windows PC and Macbook and also to access files to my iPad/ iPhone. Some sort of backup and sychronisation so that I can access certain files remotely.
Buy a real NAS.. synology or QNAP are the standard... although companies like Netgear and Western Digital and Seagate make them as well.
There is no problem sharing between Mac and PC now.. you do not even need a NAS to do that.. you simply share the hard disk directly. Mac talk SMB.. everything talks SMB nowadays.. so it is easy.
ipad and iphone are not designed to use NAS.. they are designed to backup only to the cloud or itunes.. but you can load an app like file browser if you want.

Remote access to the Apple TC is somewhere between difficult, to impossible from a PC.. Apple use BTMM and iCloud but the service is not offered to PC.
A real NAS will offer HTTPS or SFTP or several other methods.. that both Mac and PC can use.
You simply plug it into the current wireless router.. it is a network device and assessable over the network. It is not necessary to buy another router.. in fact that is a waste.

Same way you transfer music, apps, etc.
Go to the photo tab, select what you want to sync, then sync.

If you have not already done so, your chances will really improve if you....
    1) Connect the printer to the USB port on the AirPort Extreme
    2) Download and install Bonjour Print Services for Windows on the PC

  • What is the direct connect method for transfering photos from my macbook pro to my iphone without using iTunes syncronization? (iow: a simple photo copy from mac to iphone?)

I feel like I should know the answer to this. I can't believe it is a hard question.
What is the direct connect method for transfering photos from my macbook pro to my iphone without using iTunes syncronization? (iow: a simple photo copy from mac to iphone?)
    Easy? Right?
Just plug my iphone in to a mac and copy a photo from the mac to my iphone.
I don't have internet access - I can't email it, or mobileme it, or dropbox it.

iTunes. Other than that there is no direct method. However, do try the iPhone forums.

  • Why can't I upload photos from my Macbook pro to my iphone 5

You sync them via iTunes.  Read the manual

  • HT201302 How do I transfer photos from my MacBook Pro to my iPhone WITHOUT deleting them from my computer?

I have ~5000 photos on my MacBook Pro, only a few if which were taken with my iPhone. If I use Sync in iTunes any photos on my computer that were not taken with my iPhone are deleted from my computer. There is no obvious way to prevent this happening. Could I create a duplicate iPhoto library and "sacrifice" it while syncing my iPhone without losing other libraries? Any other ideas?

No, that doesn't work that way.
Photos on your computer ae not deleted by iTunes.  When you sync photos to an iPhone using iTunes, photos on the iPhone that are not in the folders or albums being synced by itunes will be deleted from the iPhone. Photos on your computer should not be touched at all.
Also transferring pictures from the iPhone to a computer has nothing to do with iTunes.
It is done through Photos, iPhoto, Aperture, or even Image Capture.

  • Importing photos from old MacBook Pro produced 000's of copies

    Hi
I backed up all my old photos (not many, less than one thousand) from my old MacBook Pro using an external harddrive.  I bought a new MacBook Pro and attempted to upload these into iPhoto on my new machine.  For some reason it has created over 25000 photos and appears to have split out every photo several of times focusing on every individual face. This is not just the use of the faces tool, it has actually created a separate photo for each.
Any advice as to how i can get rid of these - rather than have to indiviudally delete them - would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi.
If you've copied the entire iPhoto Library Folder to your new MacBook Pro, all you need to do now is point iPhoto to its location. Hold the Option key while you launch iPhoto. Click "Choose Library" then navigate to the iPhoto Library folder and Open. If the library was created with a previous version of iPhoto, then you should get a warning that the library needs to be updated by iPhoto 6, which will make it unreadable by previous versions of iPhoto. Allow it to update the library. It should then open with all of your old photos visible.
Unless your user accounts on the 2 Macs have exactly the same name, there could be a permissions conflict. Old Toad often recommends you use BatChmod to correct the permissions on the iPhoto Library folder after you copy it to the new Mac, before you try to open iPhoto. The following is a quote from Old Toad:
"...download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrative name, long or short, in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field."
