How do I arrange tables on a page in numbers?

I have multiple tables on the same page in a Numbers document. Unfortunately, the tables are overlapping, so that they are illegible. Is there a way to arrange them, say vertically, so that they do NOT overlap?
Neither the Arrange menu item or the Arrange item in the inspector do this. They both arrange the handles in the upper left corner of each table, but leave the tables overlapping.
Here is my scenario. I have a travel document with three pages, one for a trip template with a single table; one for upcoming trips with one table per trip; and one for trips I have finished, with one table per trip. When I plan a trip, I copy the table from the template into the Upcoming page, and fill in the details. After the trip is over, I drag that table into the "Finished" page. But now I have a jumble of overlapping tables, one per trip, in my Finished page.
I COULD drag and drop each one by hand. But that is horribly inefficient and crude. Isn't there an automatic way to arrange them??

That is an unfortunate answer. My use of the tool is limited by the imagination of the Apple employees who built the examples? Surely it isn't too much to ask that the design elements on a sheet be arrangeable without overlap, so that one can SEE THEM?!
in my case it seems a good design to have tables for upcoming trips and then to archive them somehow. a separate sheet for each trip is clearly a poor design. Moving the tables to something other than numbers is unnecessarily cumbersome.
Two obvious solutions are to switch to Excel or to switch back to the previous version of numbers, both of which would support this workflow.
A Well designed tool does not tie the users hands like this. Is Numbers really incapable of doing an automatic layout of a sheet?

    Is there any way to prevent a pagebreak in a table?
    If a table is selected, then the Inspector-Text-More-Pagination&Pagebreak is grayed out.
    I tried Inspector-Wrap-Object Placement-Floating, which indeed keeps the table on one page, but has all kinds of nasty side-effects. I really need to keep the table inline.

    In the Wrap Inspector, change the Table's property from Inline to Floating. Now you can position it on the following Page and avoid the split. Be careful though, because now you are fully responsible for the table position on the page and it will not split even if it grows larger than a page in length.

    Hi m,
    Numbers does not have (nor has it ever had) page breaks or Set Print Area.
    Numbers 3 has lost Print View and Layout View, so it is rather clunky to swap between File > Print (to see Print Preview) and your document.
    You can, however, move tables to new sheets and print only those sheets that are relevant. For example, your main data table could be on one sheet (that you choose to not print) and a summary table with perhaps a chart on another sheet (that you do print).

    Just curious if ANYONE out there has figured out how to implement a checkable checklist in Pages.  I am familiar with the Checklist template in Numbers, but it is not very pretty, for lack of a better word.  I need to create a stylish checklist in Pages that I can email out to employees, they can fill out, and send back.  Any suggestions?
    (I am also familiar with the check boxes in the Image Bullets section of Inspector, but it is too complicated for some of my less tech-savvy employees to go change the bullet for each line they need to check off - not to mention a hassle.  The intuitive thing would be for them to be able to simply click on the empty box, at which point a check would appear.  Please help.)

    Mac's don't have UI scale options like Windows has.
    Either you can drop the screen resolution in Displays a wee bit and make things appear distorted, or do what I do and use the Universal Access and set a control key, then use a mouse wheel/scroll to zoom in and out where the mouse is pointed.

  • I have nearly 6000 .cwk documents - some word and some spreadsheet.  How can I mass convert these to pages and numbers?

    Have been using Mac from early on.  My present MacBook Pro has 3 previous computers and information installed on it.
    The question is, I have been using Appleworks/Clarisworks for years for my business.  Would like to save that history before moving to Lion.  I know you can convert the files individually from .cwk file to pages, but I have nearly 6,000 files to convert.
    Is there some way to convert them to pages and numbers  or .doc files in mass?

  • How do create a table of contents page from a series of bookmarks?

    I am compiling bundles of documents for printing, starting from single PDFs. I combine them using Acrobat Pro X for Mac which gives me a single PDF, with a series of bookmarks for each document. I then insert page numbers.
    What I need is a way of creating a table of contents for printing (as opposed to a "digial T.O.C" - ie the bookmarks list). Ideally, I would need a script that would copy the list of bookmarks and the page numbers for each and dump them to a new page in the PDF bundle (or a text file).
    That way I can print the PDF with a Table of Contents at the front.
    There was an entry on the Acobrat for Legal Professionals blog a while back (http://blogs.adobe.com/acrolaw/2009/12/list_bookmarks_with_a_free_scrip/) - as far as I can tell that hint only works for Acrobat 9.
    Any help gratefully received

    Rick Borstein created an Action in Acrobat X Pro., that allows you to create a Bookmark Report. You might see if that does the trick.

  • How to emulate Word tables behaviour in Pages

    I am trying to create a document which has the text of a book in English in the left column of each page and the same text in Japanese in the right column. I want the beginning of each paragraph to align with the beginning of each corresponding paragraph in the other language.
    I was doing this in Word previously, but because I'm in the beta program, Word (2011 beta) starts to freak out with documents over about 300 pages. In Word, I did it by having a 2-column table, using a single row for each chapter. I then used line breaks to align the paragraphs within a chapter.
    Is there any way to get similar functionality in Pages? I tried doing it with a table (by importing the .docx I had been working on) but Pages only shows one row per page, hiding all the text in any row which doesn't fit on a single page. Can I make column rows flow over more than one page?
    I also tried working with text boxes, but they are such a clunky solution and it seems (unless I'm missing a trick) that I'd have to manually put new text boxes in the same position on each page, then manually create the link between each one.

    Click your cell, click the paintbrush icon. Tap Format and scroll down to Popup Menu. You can edit your popup there. When you are done don't forget to fill it down.

  • Mailmerge pages with numbers multiple tables

    How can I create a mailmerge with Pages and Numbers where in the numbers document multiple tables are used (in sepeare worksheets).
    It works ok, if I have one table in one document, but as soon as I add another worksheet or table then I am not able to select a table when merging. In the example videos it is included, but the only thing I can find is that I should use 1 table in 1 doc.
    I use the formatting rules for one headerrow and no headercolumn.

    As far as I know, the merge tool doesn't create 10 documents when the Numbers table contain 10 rows of datas.
    It create a single document embedding 10 customized versions of the original document as you may see on this screenshot.
