When I opt to "download this as a file" from my email account, Firefox defaults to notepad to open the file. How can I change the default to MS Word?Is FF downloading the file as a .txt file? If so, go to "Folder Options" in the windows control panel. Click on the "File Types" tab. Scroll down until you reach the TXT file extension. Look to see what that extension opens with (lower part of panel). It probably shows notepad. Click on the <Change> button. Scroll down until you find "Microsoft Word." Select it and click the <OK> button. That should show the TXT extension is now associated with Microsoft Word. Click the <Close> button at the bottom of the panel.
If FF is downloading the file as any other type, use the same process as above except look for the corresponding extension instead. If the extension is not listed click on the <New> button and create an association using the extension in the file name and then associate it with MS Word.

How do I change the fonts on the home page? They recently shrank from 12 to very tiny..(6 pt?). I did nothing to change them, but after the event tried to change them using "preferences-Fonts"which had no effect. ATT seems to have made a change in their email. The fonts in the email are now huge (18 pt?). This could be an ATT/Yahoo problem with Mac, although Safari seems to be working o. k.

Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you need to make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. Hit Ctrl+0 (That's a zero, by the way). I'm not sure if it will work, but hey, that's the first thing I would try.

I have searched and the closest I can come is some instructions for modifying .css files, and it is not clear that those instructions will impact the tab background color.

Added information - after several days experience, I notice that some tabs occasionally revert to the original dark grey. So I am still looking for a better solution, ideally within Firefox rather than via add on. This seems like a basic setting for the browser that should be easy to change, rather than something so complex that I need an add on to change it. Or just build it without such a dark grey background to begin with and I would not need to change it. -
How do you change the shortcut keys for Firefox in Welsh For Mac?
I'm using Firefox in Welsh on Mac (asking in English to hopefully get more answers), and every time I try to do the shortcut for copy (cmd+C), it hides the window (since Hide in Welsh is Cuddio, the shorcut for that is now Cmd+C). I usually forget this, and proceed with using the shortcut for copy only to anger myself when I realise that I've hidden the window.
My question is, how do you change the shortcut keys on Firefox so then I can change the Hide shortcut and give Copy the cmd+C shortcut? I'm also using OpenOffice.org in Welsh, and they are using cmd+C for copy and cmd+H for Hide.
Is there any way that I could do this myself? Its rather annoying for me, and its rather weird to use Cmd+X for Cutting text instead of copying.
Thanks.This could be worth a bug. It shouldn't happen that some shortcut keys get (re)used for other actions and Cmd + C should be considered as one of them.

How can I change the ENTIRE look of Firefox? I.e. I want to change all icons that appear in the browser - the loading "gif" the firefox...well... fox of fire in the "about" page, etc. Also what text shows up, for example on the "about:robots" page, and when hovering over a button, etc.
I could do something like that with an earlier version of Firefox, and I found the quotes from the "about:robots" page in the "omni.ja" archive, extracted, changed them and replaced in the original archive, along with other icons, however they do not seem to be implemented. :/

You can back up the MBP, restart using Command+R to boot into the Mavericks Recovery HD, erase the Mactintosh HD and Reinstall OS X. Then you can go through setup and configure it with your information and Apple ID. Mavericks should not prompt you for an Apple ID when it goes through the install since that OS is free.
One thing you might want to consider is asking the previous owner to unregister the MBP from his Apple ID if he previously registered it. Then you can register it under your Apple ID.
The previous owner should have wiped it clean and reinstalled the OS that came pre-installed before selling it. -
