How do I close programs in IOS7. The old way with double tapping the button and getting the red X does not work. Even rebooting the phone does not work.
How do I close programs with IOS 7? The old way of closing programs by double tapping on the button, holding down an icon until it started shaking and a red X appears does not work. Every program I opened appears. Turning on and off the phone does nopt work.
I just found out. Above the icon is a copy of the open page of the program(s). You slide the pages up to close.

how do I now close apps the old way of double clicking Siri button and touching the app no longer works
There isn't currently a way to edit or control which apps appear in the 'open in' list apart from deleting (or deleting and reinstalling) apps - you could try leaving feedback and maybe in the future we'll have some sort of control : http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

I just updated to ios 7 on my iPhone 4 how do you turn the apps off when your not using them? The old way of double clicking and then pressing the app until a red minus button comes doesn't work it opens it back up!?
Double click home button, then swipe up on app picture (not the icon itself)

When I close all tabs firefox 4 (new version) never asks if I want firefox to save the open tabs.Is this not possible with the new version?
When I want to see the last visited webpages on a tab , there was a button (on the right side of forward button) and I coul choose one of the last visited 10 or 15 web pages. But now it has been removed.
Are two items above not possible any more? One change in Firefox 4 is to by default stop Firefox displaying the warning message, but it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
# Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
# Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
# Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
# Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''
You can get the drop down list for the back/forward buttons by either right-clicking on the back/forward buttons, or holding down the left button until the list appears. -
My Iphone4 is secretly using alot of data even after I have double tapped the home button and closed all the apps running in the background.
This just started happening 3 days ago.
When im out of home, the phone drains battery REALLY FAST, I lose 6% battery in 5 minutes.
The phone also heats up and feels very warm after a few minutes.
When I turn the data plan off, it becomes normal again, like I lose 1% every 30minutes even while listening to mp3.
I can conclude that its secretly using the 3G at an alarming rate which causes the battery to die so quickly
I have uploaded 2 pictures showing what happens before and after I turn on my WIFI.
Notice that the ping spikes like crazy on my home network once I turn on my WIFI on my IP4
WIFI OFF:
WIFI ON:
I hope someone can assist me with this!
Thanks!!chuuburg wrote:

There is a common misconception that closing an app on the Quick Launch screen (it's real name) also kills the app's background process. This is not the case. First, all built in apps (mail, contacts, calendar, game center, notes, reminders, Genius, Photo Stream, etc) continue running their background processes even if killed in the Quick Launch screen. For apps from the App Store killing the foreground process also gives the app the option of killing its background process, but it doesn't have to. In addition, any app that has Notifications enabled can restart its background process if it receives a Notification.
iOS 7 gives the user more control over background processes; you can selectively allow or deny any app to run in background. As you apparently have not upgraded this option is not available to you.
As Chris has already told you, there's an app on your phone that is stuck in a loop. As you discovered killing foreground processes did not resolve the problem. One trick that sometimes resolves this is to let the battery run down until the phone shuts off and will not restart. Then charge to 100%. -

How do I point ou errors on iBooks? Am attempting to download sample of "Dark Light" by Randy Wayne White and am getting "Dark Light" by Jayne Ann Krentz despite the cover showing RWW. Who do I direct this to for correction?
In iTunes, go into your account info (So, click your ID in the upper right corner of the store pane)
Look at your orders. At the bottom of the recent orders page is "report a problem". -
This may be a dumb question, but nonetheless, here goes:
I just moved from 1st gen ipad to new ipad-air. Great and happy! But, one thing I can't figure out how to do is to delete the pages/sites/apps that I have just used? For example, on the 1st gen. you could double-tap home button and past actions would come up on bottom of screen. I could then delete them one by one, to keep things cleaned up. Am I missing something here? Does it keep a log irregardless? Not the same as deleting history - at least didnt' work for me.Close apps and not delete apps.
1. Double tap the home button to bring up the multi-tasking view
2. Swipe the app's windows upwards to close
3. The app will fly off the screen -

How do I close programs?
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
In OS X, there are different methods to close an application, but the easiest one is to press Command and Q keys, so the application you are using will be quit inmediately.
OS X doesn't close most of the apps just pressing the red button at the top left corner of a window, because that only closes the window, not the app. If you want to quit the application,, hold Command and Q keys. There are other methods, as closing the application from Dock or Activity Monitor -

It's an often misunderstood topic. The programs that are "running" (and where they are actually using data and battery) can be found in "Notifications" and "Background App Refresh." -
