How do I concatenate a variable with a string text?

I have a script that tests urls. If it comes across one that is not a valid url, I want to print out to the console a message that looks like this....
Http://myDomian/myPath: This is not a valid url
I currently have the url in a variable and this is what my attempted code looks like, so far.
Write-Host -ForegroundColor Red $url "This url is not valid."
but this is just giving me an output that looks like "This url is not valid", without displaying the url that it finds to be invalid. How to I get it to display the url that it finds not valid plus the text? Please help

You wrote this which is a syntax violation
Write-Host
-ForegroundColor

EXAMPLE: Write-Host <message> <switched>
$url='http://www.google.com"
Write-Host " This url is this url $url" -Fore red
DO NOT CHANGE THE ORDER OF THINGS.
Test the exact code as posted until you understand how it works then go back and fix your original code.

Thread externally in a class or in a method. I presume you mean a member variable of the thread class and not a local variable inside the run() method.

I find it easier to implement the Runnable interface rather than extending a thread. This allows your class to extend another class (ie if you extend thread you can't extend something else, but if you implement Runnable you have the ability to inherit from something). Here's how I would write it:

Your main thread continues to run after the sathr thread is completed, consequently the output is done before the sathr thread has modified the string. You need to make the main thread pause, this will allow sathr time to run to the point where it will modify the string and then you can print it out. Another way would be to lock the object using a synchronized block to stop the main thread accessing the string until the sathr has finished with it.

As Lokanath said, there are no DATE bind variables.
You can use a VARCHAR2 bind variable, and convert it to a DATE in your SQL statment.
If you're using SQL*Plus, consider a substitution variable. It won't be as efficient as a bind variable, but it will be as convenient.
For example:
DEFINE first_entrry_date = "DATE '2010-06-20''
SELECT   ...
WHERE   entry_date >= &first_entry_date

The video clip is a single screen capture video clip. This is what I've found by playing around with this more.
The original clip resolution is greater than 640x480. If I use QT Pro to convert the original clip to 640x480 and then use either Flip4Mac or PE7, then the resolution looks good.
Just trying to figure out if should keep all workflow on the MacOS side. There are several different version of Flip4Mac. $49 gives me 640x480, but if I ever want to make it slightly larger then I would need to go with the $99 or HD version.
I also tried to export to AVI with QT Pro and the import with Windows MovieMaker but it didn't work really good. I liked the simplicity (since PE7 hogs a lot of resources especially through VMWare).

When I read Java books, the examples don't usually do #1 approach.
The problem is if we don't initialize to empty string, when we call

Please advise. Thanks!!It depends on your coding style. If you can avoid lots of checks for null Strings in the rest of the code then why not initialize to "".
You have the same situation when a method returns an array. If you under circumstances return a null array reference then you have to always check for this special case, but if you return a zero length array instead you have no special case. All loops will just run 0 iterations and everything will work fine.
So in general I guess the return of zero objects instead of null references really boils down to whether it simplicates the rest of your code by removing lots of extra checks for the special null case. This usage is especially favourable in the zero length array case. See Effective Java by Bloch, item 27.

How to get a "char variable" with presentation variable???

I want to pass a char variable with presentation variable, I don't have problems if I pass "int".
For example in answers page I add a column that contains years of my dimension. 2000 until 2012 and prompted my presentation variable "year" (from my dashboard prompt) and when I go to dashboard if I choose in my prompt 2006 in my report appear 2006...any problem and easy. But my problem is if I would pass a char variable, in my prompt also I have months but not numbers else names: January, February, March...and a presentation variable that name is "month". If I do the same report but change column year to month (name) I don't have any results and I have an error.
How can I solucionate this???

Do you have separate columns for Year and Month Name. If Yes, Then why it is so confusing?
1. create a dashboard prompt with month name column
2. Assign it to monthname variable
3. In your report use above variable any where.., but what ever you are doing should be logical and valid to get some data.
In general above approach will work.

what does that mean, what you are trying to do with the variable in your report. If you give a example that would be better.

String letters=""+leter1+letter2+letter3;is fine and dandy. What it actually compiles to is
String letters = new StringBuffer().append(letter1).append(letter2).append(letter3).toString();Which ofcourse is much more code to write, but still good to know.
So do see the API for java.lang.StringBuffer.

When I created a new template like you told me, I wasn't given the option to rename the fields. See screenshot below. I'm just given the option to add a new template. Changing it refers to changing the template to a different page.
If you can show me how to have the fields renamed automatically or use the rename parameter, I think that should fix it.
