How do I coordinate disjoint databases across SOA components?

We are developing an architecture that I believe is consistent with current thinking. We plan to have a number of web-services, each with their own database. For example we'd have a web-service/database for our Customer Master, Job Scheduler, User Security Management, Billing, etc. Thewe web services would communicate with each other, as well as GUIs and batch jobs, via web service calls.
Given this structure, assume the following scenario:
The Job Scheduler ties jobs to a customer id, so the job scheduler makes web service calls to the customer master service to validate the customer id, get parameters unique to that customer, etc. Then the job scheduler writes that customer id to the job database, tying the customer id to one or more jobs.
Given this scenario, I have a couple of problems/questions:
1. How do I prevent the customer master from deleting that customer id. In a monolithic database, the DBMS tables can be set to enforce referential integrity and disallow the deletion if the id is used in another table. But in this case the customer master and job master are two different databases. I realize that I could link the databases (Oracle term) or federate them (DB2 term) so that this constraint could be enforced, but then I've just defeated one of the major goals of SOA - external entities should only know or care about interfaces to services and should not know anything about the underlying database structure, etc. Connecting the tables means that I have to coordinate with every other subsystem any time I want to change a table structure.
2. How do I generate reports from the job database that include things like customer name, address, etc. In a monolithic database, this is simple with a SQL JOIN command. But here the only thing I can see doing is hand coding web service calls for each report line to retrieve the customer name, etc.
Has anyone else had to wrestle with these problems? Am I missing something?
Thanks for any suggestions.

1.  In 10.1 select Tools>>Database>>Merge Database,
2.  Click on the Select A component Database Name button
3.  Go to the 10.0.1 database path, by default it's in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Your login name\Application Data\National Instruments\Circuit Design Suite\10.1
If you don't see Application Data, turn on hidden files in your Windows Explorer setting Tools>>Folder Options>>View

  • Using one Itunes database across two macs

Using one itunes database across two macs
I currently run a 2010 MBP (500gb hd) at home and on the road and a 2013 Imac (1Tb hd) at work. I have a large lossless itunes library of about 300gb and would like to increase the library further.
My MBP started running slowly and I realised that my iTunes library was choking the whole computer. I started to explore ways to store my library on a remote disk and bought a G drive 1Tb portable drive.
My efforts to carry out the transfer were only partially successful with most of my library transferring but a significant number of tracks displaying the ! sign which means they couldn't be located.
I have also got an Imac at work and what I had hoped to achieve was to have my iTunes database on the 1tb portable drive and use the portable disk on both my MBP and iMac.
Our technical support company are dubious about whether this will work because the local specific itunes library data on each machine will differ and each machine will not operate correctly with the underlying data on the portable drive.
I am not very technical and I am finding it difficult to follow the various posts on this board and elsewhere. Many seem to comment on splitting their library across multiple disks but I cant really seem to get to the bottom of storing my library on one disk and using it across multiple computers.
Is what I am trying to achieve practical?
If it is, can someone point me to an article/post please? Or alternatively could someone explain how I might achieve my goal.
Thanks in a advance for your help.

  • Changing the dehydration database in soa 11g

    Dear all,
I have a requirement,in which I have to change dehydration database in soa 11g in production environment.
How feasible this is...?..what issues I might fall into??..............and is it not recommended at all??....please throw some light...who have already done it in production.....

Have not tried it ever but following steps should allow you to migrate the SOA schema's -
    1. Create the new schema's in new database using RCU
    2. Shutdown the DB and your SOA domain
    3. Use database export and import functionality to migrate your existing SOA schema's to new database
    4. Start the DB
    5. Change the data-source connection details in data-source files (at $MW_Home\user_projects\domains\<domain_name>\config\jdbc)
    6. Start your SOA domain
This will migrate your in-flight BPEL instances as well. As I mentioned that I have not tested it yet, so please test above once on your dev env.

  • How does the communication will happened between SOA-Composer(where DVM file resides) and EM console (Where composite resides)?

How does the communication will happened between SOA-Composer(where DVM file resides) and EM console (Where composite resides)?
And also i would like to how A business rule(Which will be resides in SOA_COMPOSER) will be communicated to Soa Composite(Resides in EM Console)?

whenever you deploy a new composite it gets stored in the MDS data
store, i.e. the metadata service and not the dehydration store (the
    SOAINFRA database).
Composer works directly with the MDS schema.
EM reads the same schema (MDS) to see what composite are deployed on the
    partitions.
All runtime instance data is stored in the SOAINFRA database.
    Hope this helps,

    1 Administrator This is administrator
    2 Assistant Director -

  • How can I use two database in Dataset in SSRS?

    Hi,
I am using one query to generate my SSRS report. In that query I am using subquery. Now I am pulling data from multiple tales.
DB used in sub query is different than the rest of the tables DB.(So total I am using 2 DB(Database))
So I see that in SSRS, I can connect query(In DataSet Properties) to one DATA_SOURCE only, how can I use other database which is I used in sub-query?
I have to move this SSRS into PROD and I can't hard code that sub-query's DB name in my query.
    Please give me suggestion. Thanks!!
    Vicky

In SSRS 2008 R2 you can use the Lookup function (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee210531.aspx ) and LookupSet function (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee240819.aspx
Depending on your security set up, you can reference a table in a second database on the same server using a three part name:  database.schema.table.  This is more likely to work for you if you wrap your SQL command in a stored procedure.

  • How do I create multiple databases on the same ORACLE_HOME

    Hi,
I would like to know how can I create 2 databases on the same ORACLE_HOME? Also is it possible to start both databases at the same time?
When I installed oracle,a directory named database has been created under ORACLE_HOME, which contains all initorc1.ora ,etc ?
At this point how do I create another database named orc2 on the same machine?
    Thanks in advance.
    winnie philip.

    Hi,
    Set the oracle_sid=db1
Now rename your init.ora to init<oracle_sid>.ora in $oracle_home/dbs directory.
Change the db_name parameter to appropriate name in the init<oracle_sid>.ora file.
    Now create the database.
In the same fashion create another database with the new database name and different oracle_sid
Now in order to switch between the databases.
Change the env variable Oracle_Sid to the value of the database which you wanted to start.

  • How to share the same Database Connection when using several Task Flows ?

    Hi All,
    I’m using JDev 11.1.1.3.0.
I’m developing ADF Fusion Applications (ABC BC, ADF Faces…)
These applications are deployed on a Weblogic server.
Each application has only one Application Module.
All Application Modules have the same connection type defined: JDBC DataSource : jdbc/GCCDS
    It is working fine.
I’ve also developed Task Flow Applications for small thinks that are reused in multiple main applications.
Each Task Flow Application has also one Application Module with the same connections type as main applications.
All these task flows are deployed to JAR file (ADF Library JAR File) and are reused on my main applications. (drag and drop from the Resource Palette to ADF Regions….).
There are some parameters passed to Task Flows, so that they can filter data depending on which main applications they are called from.
    Everything is working perfectly.
All my main applications are using more and more task flows. Which is nice for the reusability etc…?
    Only ONE PROBLEM: DATABASE CONNECTIONS.
Every Task Flows service made a database connection. So one user may have 10 database connections for the same adf page. And when there are 100 users that are working at the same time, it becomes a problem.
How to share the same database connections for the main applications and all task flows which are used in the main application?
    Best Regards
    Nicolas

    Hi John,
When I open a ADF Library JAR file of one of my task flow. (gcc_tf_recentSites.jar)
    I can see TF_RecentSitesService.xml and TF_RecentSitesServiceImpl.class in gcc_tf_recentSites.jar\mu\gcc\tf\recentSites\model\service folder
    + bc4j.xcfg in gcc_tf_recentSites.jar\mu\gcc\tf\recentSites\model\service\common folder.
    bc4j.xcfg details are

    +</AppModuleConfig>+
    +</AppModuleConfigBag>+
    +</BC4JConfig>+
So, it seems that the Application Module is packaged with the task flow....
    Is it normal ?

  • How do you share Aperture file across multiple users on same Mac?

How do you share Aperture file across multiple users on same Mac? Seems this should be a preferences choice.

When you share your library between users, you may run into permission and ownership problems, if both users are editing the Aperture library and not only reading it. To avoid that, it helps to put the Aperture library onto a separate disk or a separate partion of your hard drive. For s separate partition or disk you can enable the "ignore ownership on this volume" flag. Then all users can access the library as owners of this library.
You might try to put the aperture library into a shared folder on your mac, but that has caused problems recently, i.e. when the library also contains video files.

  • How can I convert a Database Handle from TestStand to LabVIEW?

I want to use a Database Handle (already created in TestStand by an Open Database step) in a LabVIEW-VI (called from TestStand) to connect it with the "Connection Reference" input of the "Easy SQL.vi"? If I use a directly connection via the "TestStand - Get Property Value (Number).vi" I get back the error message 4101 in LabVIEW. How can I convert the Database Handle?
    Test Engineering
    digades GmbH
    www.digades.com

The TestStand database step types use the CVI SQL Toolkit to talk to databases. The handle that you are referencing is an internal memory location and not a actual handle that you can directly use. Currently as implemented the handle that is stored in a numeric TestStand property for the connection and the SQL statement are the handle values returned from the CVI SQL Toolkit. So for the connection handle, you could call the CVI SQL Toolkit function
    DBGetConnectionAttribute (
    int Connection_Handle,
    tDBConnectionAttr Attribute,
    void *Value);
and get the CVI CAObjHandle reference. With this you could then call the CVI ActiveX function
    CA_GetInterfaceFromObjHandle(
    CAObjHandle Object_Handle,
    const IID *Interface_Id,
    int Force_AddRef,
    void *Inte
    rface_Ptr,
    int *Did_AddRef);
to get the actual ActiveX interface reference. This would have to be converted into a LabVIEW reference.
You may want to consider just using LabVIEW to open a new parallel reference only using the toolkit.
