How do I create a startup procedure in Veristand?
I want to create a procedure on first execution of the workspace. I also need procedures without alarms. How do I do this in Veristand?
JY
Solved!
Go to Solution.
You can create a startup procedure set to run when the VeriStand Engine first starts up. To do this, simply create a procedure in System Explorer, then go to the main Procedures page and check the box called On Startup. Then simply select the procedure you want to run at startup.
This is slightly different than a procedure that runs when the Workspace opens. For instance, when running a PC Engine configuration, the Workspace might not open up until maybe 10 seconds after the PC Engine has started running, due to the time it takes to connect to and synchronize with the PC Engine from the Workspace. Also, for an RT configuration, when the Workspace runs it doesn't necessarily mean the engine just started up. The VeriStand Engine might have been running for hours or days beforehand if you don't redeploy. Do you want the procedure to run when the engine starts up or every time the Workspace connects?
If you really want a procedure to run when the Workspace connects, one good way to do it would be to create an alarm for the System Channel called Host IP. This channel's value represents the IP Address of the connected host computer. It is zero when no host is connected. Therefore, you can create an alarm to trigger your procedure whenever this channel transitions from zero to a non-zero value. You can use a dummy User Channel to cache the previous value of the host IP so that you only fire the procedure when it changes.
Last point: You said you want to trigger a procedure without creating an alarm. Can you describe your use case a little more? Is there any reason you specifically don't want to use an alarm for this?

Pointbase : How can I create a stored procedure with Pointbase database?
Hello,
Excuse me for my english, I'm not anglophone. I try to create a stored procedure.
This is my file SampleExternalMethods.java :
import java.sql.*; //import com.pointbase.jdbc.jdbcInOutDoubleWrapper; public class SampleExternalMethods { // A connection object to allow database callback static Connection conn = null; static Statement l_stmt; static Statement m_stmt; static CallableStatement m_callStmt = null; static ResultSet l_rs = null; public static void main(String[] args) { try { String url = "jdbc:pointbase:server://localhost/pointbaseDB"; String username = "PBPUBLIC"; String password = "PBPUBLIC"; conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, username, password); doCreateProcedure(); doInvokeProcedure(); } catch (SQLException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } finally { if (m_stmt != null) { try { m_stmt.close(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } if (m_callStmt != null) { try { m_callStmt.close(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } if (conn != null) { try { conn.close(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } } public static void getCountry(String Iso_Code) { try { // Query the database for the country iso code l_stmt = conn.createStatement(); l_rs = l_stmt.executeQuery( "SELECT * FROM countries" + " WHERE country_iso_code ='" + Iso_Code + "'"); //Affichage du résultat de la requête l_rs.next(); System.out.print(l_rs.getString(1) + " - "); System.out.print(l_rs.getString(2) + " - "); System.out.println(l_rs.getString(3)); // Close the result set l_rs.close(); } catch (SQLException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } finally { if (l_rs != null) { try { l_rs.close(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } if (l_stmt != null) { try { l_stmt.close(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } } public static void doCreateProcedure() throws SQLException { // SQL statement to create a stored procedure String SQL_CREATE_PROC = "CREATE PROCEDURE getCountry(IN P1 VARCHAR(30))" + " LANGUAGE JAVA" + " SPECIFIC getCountry" + " NO SQL" + " EXTERNAL NAME \"SampleExternalMethods::getCountry\"" + " PARAMETER STYLE SQL"; // Create a SQL statement m_stmt = conn.createStatement(); // Execute the SQL m_stmt.executeUpdate(SQL_CREATE_PROC); // Close the statement //m_stmt.close(); } public static void doInvokeProcedure() throws SQLException { // Create SQL to invoke stored procedures String SQL_USE_PROC = "{ call getCountry(?) }"; // Create a callable statement with three binding parameters m_callStmt = conn.prepareCall(SQL_USE_PROC); m_callStmt.setString(1, "CA"); m_callStmt.executeQuery(); // Close the callable statement //m_callStmt.close(); } }
Afterwards, I have read this note in a Pointbase document:
To invoke the dateConvert external Java method from a stored function, you must use the
CREATE FUNCTION statement. The dateConvert external Java method is called from the
class, SampleExternalMethods.
In order for the database to access this external Java method, the class SampleExternalMethods
must be included in the database CLASSPATH. For PointBase Embedded - Server Option, it
must be in the Server CLASSPATH, but not in the Client CLASSPATH.
If PointBase Server is run with the Java Security Manager, in the java policy file grant
’com.pointbase.sp.spPermission’ to the class that implements the external Java method.
An "spPermission" consists of a class name with no action. The class name is a name of a class
that could be used in creating a Stored Procedure in PointBase. The naming convention follows
the hierarchical property naming convention and that is supported by
"java.security.BasicPermission". An asterisk may appear by itself, or if immediately preceded
by ".", may appear at the end of the name, to signify a wildcard match. The name cannot
contain any white spaces.
I'm not sure, but I suppose that I must include the class SampleExternalMethods in a .jar file.
The database CLASSPATH could be : C:\Sun\AppServer\pointbase\lib\
These my files in this database CLASSPATH:
pbclient.jar
pbembedded.jar
pbtools.jar
pbupgrade.jar
I have tryed to include the class SampleExternalMethods in pbclient.jar and pbembedded.jar with this command:
jar -uf pbembedded.jar SampleExternalMethods
Afterwards I do that,
1) Start Pointbase
2) Configuration of classpath
set classpath=C:\Sun\AppServer\pointbase\lib\pbclient.jar
set classpath=%classpath%;D:\J2EE\Ch07Code\Ch07_06
I precise that my file SampleExternalMethods is into D:\J2EE\Ch07Code\Ch07_06\Ch07.
Then, I run the program:
D:\J2EE\Ch07Code\Ch07_06>java -Djdbc.drivers=com.pointbase.jdbc.jdbcUniversalDriver Ch07.SampleExternalMethods
But I have an error message:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Ch07.SampleExternalMethods (wrong name: SampleExternalMethods)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass0(Native Method)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.DefineClass(ClassLoader.java:539)
The problem, I suppose, comes from that the class SampleExternalMethods
must be included in the database CLASSPATH, but there is a pbserver.jar with pointbase normally, but I didn't find it. That's why I use pbembedded.jar or pbclient.jar in order to include the class SampleExternalMethods. May be I must start from C:\Sun\AppServer\pointbase\lib\ instead of D:\J2EE\Ch07Code\Ch07_06\Ch07?
Please, can somebody helps me?
Thank you in advance.

Thank you for your response, I have done two classes:

m_callStmt.setString(2, "CA");
m_callStmt.executeQuery();
// Close the callable statement
//m_callStmt.close();
}But I have the same error message that previously.
I have read this note and I suppose that the problem is linked:

Can you explain me what I must to do in order to solve this problem of spPermission.

How can I create stored procedure?
I am new in this field, I was reading in this web site on how to create stored procedure,and this is what I did :
SQL> CREATE PROCEDURE test.proc1 (n IN NUMBER)
2 AS BEGIN
3 select * from districts
4 where doe = n;
5 END;
6
Please direct me. I don't know if I am wrong or right, test is the name of the database, and proc1 is the stored procedure that I want to create, why when I hit Enter after END; I got the number 6.
How can I call this stored procedure, if it works.
Thanks in advance
nullSome reading and training might prove useful. Even if you are using Linux, this forum is no place for a question like that.

How can i create a Package to make this above procedure fit under it ??
Hi ,
I am going through package tutorials in Oracle , but unfortunately i couldn't able to follow :
On Web , They simply say that Packages are used to group Procedures or Functions of similar kind .
Could any please tell me how this is possible ??
Assume that i have a simple Stored Procedure as shown below :
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE emp_sel (cv_results IN OUT SYS_REFCURSOR)
IS
BEGIN
DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('Hi my First Package');
END;
Please help , thanks .package is basicly a group of procedures, functions, type definitions, etc... if you put this procedure into a package you can do this:
a package has two parts, spec and body, spec is interface for outside and body is source code.
create or replace package DUMMY_Pkg is
PROCEDURE emp_sel (cv_results IN OUT SYS_REFCURSOR);
end;
create or replace package body DUMMY_Pkg is
PROCEDURE emp_sel (cv_results IN OUT SYS_REFCURSOR)
begin
dbms_output.put_line('something');
end;
end;

How can i create a Global Temporary Table inside a Stored Procedure....
Hi...
I need to create a Global Temporary Table inside a Stored
Procedure....
I have no idea how to do that....
Please....if u can send me a sample, send to me....
Thanks a lotTo create a global temporary table inside a stored procedure,
the minimal syntax would be:
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE procedure_name
AS
BEGIN
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'CREATE GLOBAL TEMPORARY TABLE table_name'
|| '(column_name NUMBER)';
END procedure_name;
As Todd stated, it would probably be better to create the global
temporary table outside of the procedure:
SQL> CREATE GLOBAL TEMPORARY TABLE table_name
2 (column_name NUMBER);
Table created.
You can also specify things like ON COMMIT PRESERVE ROWS or ON
COMMIT DELETE ROWS.
It may be that there is something else, like a PL/SQL table of
records or a cursor, that would suit your needs better. It is
difficult to guess without knowing what you want to do with it. -

I have a WD 2 tb hard drive that I want to use to back up my Mac Pro quad core. How do I create a back up startup disk? Also, when I used Time macine, it only backed up users and not the system or library folders. Ideas?
Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Time Machine should be enough to make a backup of your files. Also, it should back up all folders, so open System Preferences > Time Machine > Options, and make sure that there are no folders included in the excluded items list.
If you want to create a bootable clone of your hard drive, you need to use an app like Carbon Copy Cloner or the Disk Utility's Restore feature > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU7.html -

There is no reason why a properly written Java stored program cannot be used in APEX, provided that whatever it is doing makes sense in an APEX/web context, and isn't some nonsense like using DBMS_OUTPUT to generate a CSV.

How to create a stored procedure and use it in Crystal reports
Hi All,
Can anyone explain me how to create a stored procedure and use that stored procedure in Crystal reports. As I have few doubts in this process, It would be great if you can explain me with a small stored proc example.
Thanks in advance.If you are using MSSQL SERVER then try creating a stored procedure like this
create proc Name
select * from Table
by executing this in sql query analyzer will create a stored procedure that returns all the data from Table
here is the syntax to create SP
Syntax
CREATE PROC [ EDURE ] procedure_name [ ; number ]
[ { @parameter data_type }
[ VARYING ] [ = default ] [ OUTPUT ]

[ WITH
{ RECOMPILE | ENCRYPTION | RECOMPILE , ENCRYPTION } ]
[ FOR REPLICATION ]
AS sql_statement [ ...n ]
Now Create new report and create new connection to your database and select stored procedure and add it to the report that shows all the columns and you can place the required fields in the report and refresh the report.

How to use dynamic parameter when a report is created using Stored Procedures
Hi all,
any one have the idea of how to use dynamic parameter in crystal report XI R2
when report is created using Stored Procedure.
Regards
shashi kant chauhanHi
You can create an SQL command in Database Expert > Expand your datasource > Add command
Then enter the SQL query that will create the list of values to supply to the user
eg select field1,field2 from table
Then edit the parameter of the report. These will be the SP parameters adn can be seen in field explorer.
Change the parameter type to Dynamic
Under the word Value click on Click here to add item
Scroll down to your Command and select one of the values that you want to appear in the list
e.g field1
Then click on the Parameters field - this is essential to create the param
You can edit other options as required
That should do it for you.
I must say that i use CR 2008 connected to Oracle 10g SP, but i reckon this will work for SQL DB and CR XI as well
Best of luck -
