How do I Delete an Email Address from Auto Complete in iPad iOS mail

How can I remove old/unwanted/incorrect email addresses, (which have never been in my contacts list or which have been superseded because they were wrong)?
Every time I start writing an email address I get this list of suggestions of any similar addresses I have ever used - many of which are either wrong or not wanted & have never even been in my Contacts list! Its really annoying as the "wrong" ones are usually near the top of the list!!

PS none of these addresses have been "imported" from another computer!

The only way that I currently know of to remove old or incorrect email addresses is to restore the device back to factory defaults, which is somewhat extreme. You can try leaving feedback, and hopefully one day we'll get a way of editing them http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

Hello to everyone on this great forum,
I have been having trouble trying to find out how to delete the old typed email history. For an example, if I go to send a picture to Bob, I start typing Bob and it comes up with 3 old emails of his. Not a big deal except it's hard to keep track of what emails are current.
In other words, after deleting the old emails in the contacts it still shows up when I start typing a person's name.

Edit the list the comes up when you go to the Window menu and select "Previous Recipients".

If that AüpleID has been disabled for security reasons, you may not be able to access it. Then you need to give Apple Support a call: only they will be able to help you. See this webpage on how to contact Apple Support in your country: There are either telephone numbers given or an email form:

If you haven't already removed the email address from your contacts in cloud, you may want to start there. If that doesn't work, then you may be out of luck. Unfortunately, smartphones remember things we don't want them to :-(

As with the Mail app on a Mac, the iPhone's Mail app stores all email recipients in a list of previous recipients which is separate from the address book or contacts. The email address autofill feature when addressing an message pulls from Contacts and from the list of previous recipients.
Different from the Mail app on a Mac, there is no access to the list of previous recipients with iOS on an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to remove a previous recipient from the list, or to add a previous recipient to the address book or contacts that is not already entered - not at the present time anyway.
The only way to purge the list of previous recipients at the present time is by restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, which will start being re-populated again with every sent message.
