How do I edit php pages within contribute

I have a page that I have made PHP. The purpose is to display different parts of the page based on the subscription level of the client. So there are 4 subscription levels and 4 section of the page. Now I want to edit one of the 4 sections which are html code. It displays the page correctly, however once I select edit the page is recognized php and shows a little box icon and not html.
I use contribute to edit the HTML portions of the page??

Hi,
You can use the option of editing the web page in an external application for making changes in php page.
I had couple of questions - How are you displaying the different sections of the web page? Is it depending on the subscription level of a user - which you are controlling via php? And, is the HTML code in the web page generated by the php code?

I am a beginner user but good enough to make edits to my HTML website. I just open the HTML file, make WYSIWYG changes and save them then use filezilla to upload to my server and boom changes are made.
Right now I was just given a php site and I want to make basic edits such as expanding the navigation menu, adding more links, pages to the nav menu etc and cannot get Dreamweaver to act like it does with HTML or SHTML files. Why? How can I fix this so that I can edit my PHP files with the same ease as HTML?

PHP is code view only. To work with dynamic sites (php, server-side includes & MySql databases), you need to set-up a local PHP environment on your computer.
Get one of these local testing servers for your OS and follow the installation instructions.

Difficulty editing a page using contribute.

I am having difficulty editing a page using contribute. All other pages for this website can be opened and edited using contribute, except this one.
The file can be viewed in Contribute, but when I scroll over the page content and click on the edit botton nothing happens
I previously could edit this file in contribute.

How can you "Add document" in shared documents without allowing editing the page ie Contribute?

    Using SharePoint 2010 Server and the UI, when you click "Site
Actions" - "New Site" and you create Team Site that that is a
Sub-site.
    When you create the Visitor, Members and Owners groups
how can you allow the user to add a document while at the same
time not allow them to edit the page when adding the document
as the only permissions are Full Control, Contribute and Read?

Hi Shabeaut,
To create a new permission level, you should manage the Parent (site collection).
Your current location is subsite, and it looks like it has unique permission(broke inheritance) that is the reason you are not able to see the create permission level. and another reason for seeing Inherit Permissions along with other menus in the ribbon.
You should also see Manage Parent along with the menus you see when your site inherits permission from parent.
So, go to your site collection and create a new permission level and assign users to it.
And to assign permission level to your new groups, you will be able assign permission when you create a new group, along with the name, all permissions would be listed in the same page(_layouts/newgrp.aspx).

Help with editing web pages in Contribute

Once I am connected to the website I want to edit and I click
on "edit page" in Contribute, the screen turns gray and I cannot
edit anything. It saves as a "draft" and I could publish it but it
won't allow me to see the web page I am editing. Help!

Why can't I edit certain pages within a PDF?

I use acrobat pro to edit powerpoint presentations that have been turned into PDFs. In some documents, certain pages won't let me select images using the edit text & images function ( normally if you hover over, a blue outline appears, indicating something you can select but nothing happens one these slides), and I can select the add text tool and create a text box, but whatever I type in it doesn't show up. I've tried switching back and forth between the selection tool and the hand tool, but that doesn't make a difference.
I have tried adding sticky notes on these pages, which seems to work, but often makes the program crash before I can save what I wrote.

They are lecture notes, originally powerpoint files and converted to PDFs and posted online. If I didn't have editing permissions, I don't think I would be able to edit any of the pages, but it is only certain ones within editable documents. It seems to be tied to documents having a lot of images, which also make adobe crash very often.

How do I edit Library Items in Contribute?

I've been attempting to edit a Library Item in Contribute CS5 with no real luck. First in said it could not open the file so I designated "simpleText" and also MSWord as alternate programs to edit the Library with. (I need something that my client has access to on a PC in their office). Contribute allowed me to open, edit and even publish...giving me a notice of "success" but when accessing the actual page online, the changes were not updated.
Adobe Tech support was useless on this issues.

1. In the main menu go to >File>Actions>Edit page source in external application (Dreamweaver)
2. In the Dreamweaver make the necessary modifications.
3. Save the file
4. Return to Contribute and publish the page

How to only edit the Sky within an image?

Hi. I'm trying to fathom how you can, say, change the saturation; brightness;..etc of one particular section of an mage instead of the changes being applied to the entire image. Say, I wanted to tweak the adjustments for only the sky within a landscape picture but to leave everything else alone...how would you achieve this?

Thanks for the responses so far. This seems crazy. Here we have a Pro Application like Aperture yet it appears a user cannot do a relatively straight forward task of adjusting a particular area of an image.
Dodge & Burn is ok but doesn't allow me to adjust colour for example?
The colour eye dropper is ok but like you said if you alter the sky (blue) then you end up messing up other blue areas within the image unintentionally.
I am familiar with 'Layers' within Photoshop and was hoping Aperture could do something equivalent. Are 'Stacks' similar to layers? Could you have multiple stacks with each stack addressing an individual aspect of an image then stamp them all into one?
Back to my original question, my friend said Photoshop Elements allowed you to do what I want i.e. select just the Sky for editing by performing a 'Colour Cast' operation.
Is Aperture missing something really obvious?

How can I edit a page which uses jQuery Tabs that are hidden in edit mode?

My client cannot update the html5 css3 jQuery tabs as they are not visible on the page in edit mode. Is there anyway that he can update with Contribute 6.5 or is there any other CMS which would allow him to update it?

To make scripts visible in edit mode follow the below mentioned steps.
1) Administer the website.
2) Select the role and click Edit role settings.
3) Uncheck the option "Protect scripts, forms and spry widgets".
4) Click OK to save and exit.

How can i edit photo page?

I´ve tried to figure out a good way to display my photography portfolio using iweb, but I haven´t found a good way to do it.
What I want to try is using the photopage, but with modifications. I would like to remove the numbers indicating how many images there are, and place a selfmade button for next and previous. Is this possible?
Can I edit the text, font and color?
Can I edit the size of the photo?

Yes. You set the photo size in the FAE export, upload the folder that's produced to the server and then use iFrame code in an HTML snippet to add to any page you'd like. I suggest you create a test site that you can use to experiment with, publishing to a folder on your Desktop to see how it works before adding to your site. Once you get it like you want just copy the snippet form the test site to the page in your regular site.

Editing PHP pages containing forms crashes Dreamweaver

I have a small intranet project I'm using for doc storage and
retrieval on a localhost machine.
Have Windows XP, DW CS3, MySQL DB, and phpMyAdmin.
The project was working fine up until about a week ago.
Now, whenever I place my cursor in an area of the php file
that is between <?PHP ?> tags, Dreamweaver throws an
exception error.
I had installed PEAR between the last time it worked and when
it started throwing errors.
I removed all the PEAR folders and files and made sure
PHP.ini isn't referencing any PEAR .dlls etc.
Checked environment paths too, BTW.
I'm still thoroughly broken though.
I'm inclined to think it's not in the code itself since that
wasn't changed between the time everything worked and when
everything stopped working.
Looking for any ideas as to possible causes of the
problem.

It looks as though you have a corrupt cache file. Follow
troubleshooting

How can I edit the page numbers I've inserted?

When I click on the insertion cursor, the options in the Section>Page Numbers cannot be accessed. Same as when inserting from the Insert>Page Numbers menu. I tried deleting the page numbers, hoping that the settings would go back to default, only to find that it goes back to the previous style/settings.

nope. i did this on pages '09 from scratch. i was following a pre-designed template from photoshop so I did every technique i could to make it appear closely as possible to the design.
i achieved the header by inserting tables instead of ordinary text and background.
what else should i be telling?

You can try to click on the "live data view" icon on the top
bar of page window.
But I don't think you can *change* live data view in design
view, i.e. drag the edge of a PHP
generated div to make it wider. You'll need to edit PHP in
the code.
