How do I effectively use my Object Libraries ?

I have created a generic form which allows users to search a name in a database table. I have created an Object Libarary and added the Blocks, Canvas, etc. to this OLB file.
My concern is reusing this object in several applications without having to customize each time I attach it to a new form.
Does anyone have experience with reusing Object Libraries? If so, how do you make modifications to your OLB file so that it propagates to the other forms using it?

How (or what) do we set when using shared object libraries?
We have Java Native Methods which are implemented using C++ and stored in shared object libraries. We can build our project, but when trying to execute the project, the shared object libraries are not found. We had tried to set the external execution settings to include the library paths, but nothing seems to take affect.
What do we need to set to run with the shared object libraries?

I appreciate your responce, hopefully we'll get this worked out. I will try to give you as much information as I can so you will hopefully understand the problem.
We have added a Library Reference to our project - which is a jar file - this jar file contains our Business Objects which are implemented in Java. Within this Library Reference, there is a Java class which has a Native method. The method is implemented in C++ The C++ implementation of this method is within a C++ shared object library (libname.so).
How do we let Creator know that we need to link in this C++ Shared Object Library at run time?
The Modifers Properties for the method in the library reference are correctly set - that is they are set to Native. For a method within a java element, selecting or un-selecting this modifier simply changes the method declaration. It does not tell Creator where the actual implementation is (shared object library in this case).
As originally stated, we tried to include our shared object library in the Execution Property of the properties window for the Java Element. Here is what we have done so far - all unsuccessful....
Under the External Execution Property - we added the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH set to our shared object library path. We also selected the Append Environment Variable (set to true). We are not able to modify the Library Path of the External Execution Property - it will not allow changes - all buttons are disabled in the pop up window.
There are no properties for the Internal Execution within the Executor Properties, so there is nothing we can set there.
We have tried to set the Debugger Execution properties in the same manner as the External Execution properties to run the project in Debug mode - and have the same problem - while executing the project, we get the error message which indicates that our shared object library can not be found.
There are no property settings available on the J2EE Server Execution Properties to set.
What do we need to set so that this Shared Object Library will be located during execution of our project under SJSC?

OK paper weight is harsh, but i made the upfront investment to have longevity ....
Reality:
- We can't predict what Apple will do, we can only go on past behavior.
- For the past decade Apple has stopped pretty much all support for anything except the current and previous operating system (OS) version. Apple has brought out a new OS version roughly every 2 years. This translates to roughly 4 years of update support. In some cases Apple may stretch it a bit such as iTunes also still working under OS 10.5 (we're now on 10.7), but iTunes isn't an OS. I do know with the recent malware incident Apple did not bring out a fix for any OS earlier than 10.6. Now there's an interesting change ahead. Apple brought out Lion last year and is likely to bring out Mountain lion this year. We're now on a 1 year upgrade cycle. If Apple continues past pattern on only supporting the last two OS versions it means your OS basically only has an effective lifespan of 2 years instead of 4. Longevity?
- Hardware. We bought an iphone last December. I asked the person in the store about battery life. He said, "Oh, at least two years but you'll be thinking about getting rid of this one by then and getting a newer one." Two years.
I don't remember the exact criteria, but Lion won't run on the earliest Intel Macs (2006) and Mountain Lion likely won't run on some of the middle aged ones. Snow Leopard (ca. 2009) won't run on any Mac made prior to 2006. Reviewing OS releases for the past 6 years or so it seems to me you get roughly 5 years before new OS releases won't run on your hardware any more.
So, we have software support dropping out after 4 years or so (maybe now down to 2 years???) and hardware becoming obsolete after 5 years. Is that longevity?

How can i create attachment to the parked invoice using Generic Object services? i want function modules which are used to do it.
Actually I want to do this from the business object method. I am having word document as one of the workitem step. once i get this document I need to attach this document to the parked invoice so that users can see that document by view object list.

Check your configuration of document type assignement to required business document - object type, Archivelink table, content repository in OAC3 transaction.
Goto respective business document > Click on GOS > Create > Store business document - Here you can see defined document type with desctiption. Double click on this the assign your document to this business document. Save it.
This will help in attaching the document to your required business document.
To verify you can check the archivelink table or by transaction OAAD.

Hi there,
We are coming up against the "all your licenses are currently used" problem from time to time so we're trying to narrow down some of the possibilities..
Is there any way through the central management console to check (after a report has just been run through the RAS) how many licenses are currently used? Like I can see, how many sessions are open, how many documents are open, connections etc. but do any of these correlate to licenses?

How to populate TEMKSV using BDC object in Emigall

Hi,
I need to migrate contact persons into ISU. So I created a BDC using BUA1 and it imports data fine.
BUT, I can't get the key generated to store in TEMKSV. I tried populating the Application Area with R1, Message Number with 425 (which is what I get when I save in BUA1) and message variable 1 (also tried 2, 3 & 4).
I get a short dump telling me that the return field was not found or the message variable is initial.
Can anybody point me in the right direction here? I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, and can't find anything in the docs about this specifically.

Good question Jurgen. The short answer is that my contact persons are not actually business partners. The data I'm trying to load is c/o mailing addresses. Ah, but you say, I can load mailing addresses as just that.
So here's the long answer. My primary problem is that I need to be able to assign an address to a piece of equipment in Plant Management, so that I can send a letter in regards to the equipment. In some cases I have dozens of mailing addresses in use for a single customer.
While ISU allows me to have many addresses for a BP, the PM side uses the SD customer and I can't have multiple addresses for an SD customer. But, I can have many SD contacts related to an SD customer. So my plan is to migrate these specific mailing addresses into IS-U contact persons, relate them to my IS-U BP, use some creative magic from my APAPer to replicate them as SD contact persons related to my SD customer. Then I will be able to attach the SD contact person (and thus the mailing address) to the equipment.
It seems like a round-about solution but we haven't been able to come up with a more elegant solution.

How can I effectively use "Spaces?"

I am going to try this again and see if anyone has any suggestions: Is there any way of disassociating an application's ownership of a "Space" in Spaces?
I want to be able to have, say, different open documents belonging to, say, Word, or Excel, in different Spaces for different projects. The trouble is if I open an application is a space, that space appears to now "own" that application. If I open a document using that application in, say, Space 1, and I then move that window to Space 2 for example, I have a problem!
So I am using Space 2 for Project A and all documents for Project A are in Space 2. Also, in Space 3 I have all the windows for Project B. It is often the case that Word, which I opened in Space 1, now has document windows in Space 1, 2 and 3.
Let us say that in Space 2 I also have a database application open and I do something in its window, when I click on the Word document window - swoosh - I am back in Space 1, where I opened Word in the first place. To get back to my project I must move back to Space 2 where I find the document window is focused and I can work in it. However if I go back to the other window in Space 2, the database window, and then again click on the Word document window - swoosh again - back in Space 1.
Extremely irritating, and makes Spaces unusable.
Any help? I do NOT want any Space to "own" any application. An application is common to ALL spaces, no ownership. In fact, and application is just a system resource like a printer or the clock.

Yes, if I do not change apps in the interim I can move from document 1 in Space 1 to document 2 in Space 2 and they are both editable instantly. But now if I go to the document 2 in Space 2 and, while in Space 2 I use a window from some other application, like for example I look at some entry in an Excel spreadsheet, then click back on my document 2 - swoosh, I am moved back to Space 1.
In other words, as an app "owns" a space, if I am to switch back and forth between documents (windows) in the same app, they must all be in the same Space else I am moved back to the Space where I first opened the app.
To me, this is entirely illogical! Why must a Space "own" an application? I should be able to access and use any window from any app in any Space, and stay in that Space until "I" decide to move.
For example I have my usual apps (Mail, Address Book, Calendar, Adium, etc.) in Space 1. Space 2 contains some log files. Space 3 is a project I am working on. All 3 Spaces have Word documents in them. This does not work, yet it seems an entirely reasonable way to work.
I do not understand it.

How do you effectively use if,for, type loops in TestStand. Do you have to use the goto command or is there a way of writing actual c type code (perhaps using the statement step in teststand) with the variables allready declared.

I assume your loop is more than just one step. You should use the 'Loop Options' for a single step.
For looping on a group of steps, you can place them all in a sub sequence and then set the 'Loop Options' for the 'SequenceCall' step to set up your looping conditions. Pass values to and from the sub-sequence by Parameters.
You can keep the loop inline with the rest of your sequence by using 'Goto' or using 'Goto destination' in the Post Actions tab of the condition step.
Using a sub sequence will keep it easier to read and maintain.

How do you effectively use WSUS/Windows Updates in a mobile/laptop environment?

Hey everyone, I have a question about properly using WSUS and/or Windows Update to properly patch laptops. We provide our users with laptops and a large number of them work from home throughout the week. We want to make sure they're being properly updated,
but also make sure we can control what updates are installed on the machines. It's my understanding that it is against the EULA to make a WSUS server available to the outside world. To me, this leaves a weird gap within the Windows Update world where you either
get all updates from Microsoft's servers or you get updates only when you're onsite at your business.
I found a neat utility graciously created by the developer(s) of ABC-Deploy, called ABC-Update. This provides a utility to install, uninstall, update, or filter out any updates you wish. You can even have it run against your WSUS server. You could create a
script that runs as a scheduled task to run against WSUS when you're onsite (assuming you have a static public IP) or against Microsoft Update (and filtering out the updates using the /K option). Not perfect, but it seems to do an OK job. My worry is the list
of updates you'd have to filter out using the /K option could become rather large.
I was wondering what everyone else does to properly patch their mobile/laptop environments?
If there's no good solution, I'd love to get in contact with someone at Microsoft to work on this.

Do check with MS on that EULA thing. It sounds strange that it is against EULA assuming you require client authentication when accessing published WSUS server. I have also seen several blog posts from MS describing publishing procedure (for example

Otherwise, I'm affraid, there is no "lightweight" way to do this without using third party soft or doing some programming of your own. One option is using System Center Configuration Manager to manage windows updates. It does support management
of clients over internet, but requires deployment of a number of new servers and services in your network. Another option is deploying direct access in your environment to provide client computers with seemless connection to corporate network. In this case
you can use WSUS to manage updates and collect statistic, while clients can be configured to downloads update content from the internet.

With reference to Manual Bassani's SDN Contribution of code examples on how to attach documents using Generic Object Services - we have found that since implementing ECC 6 the following code no longer works (at the end of page 9):

Using COM object library & components in Java

I've built an application that allows a PC (connected to a mobile phone by cable) to send & receive SMS from another mobile phones, using VB & Nokia PC Connectivity SDK. I want to rewrite the application in Java.
As I have read in the documentation, Nokia PC Connectivity libraries are implemented as COM libraries. That is why I am asking if can I use COM object libraries & components in Java???
And does Java environment supports object libraries as VB or C++ does???
I am a VB programmer, but I am migrating now to Java which is why I have little knowledge about it. Please be kind enough to help me with this & with my learning about Java. Any help & suggestions are very well accepted.

I suggest that if you have a COM library dependency and lock-in, then Java is not the natural choice of platform. If you can re-write the Nokia connectivity app in Java, then that would be best. If you are just doing this to learn Java, then leave it and learn Java on a diff project!
When you talk of object libraries, I am guessing you are just talking about software components (as COM objects could be classed)... in which case - of course Java supports components. Take a look at JavaBeans.

This is what I do:
First Create the brushes by selecting the shapes desired. Select the shape and place it into the burshes window.
(Main Menu: Window + Brushes)
Then A new window will show: Please select "New Scatter Brush"
After you click OK, a new window will appear:
In here I have selected Random Size, Spacing and Rotation. You may want to adjust the percentages to you design. The last thing to select is the Colorization Method; in this case "Tints" is selected because will allow me to change the color of the shape by using the color pallet window. After that click Ok and use the brush tool.

if you run nw04s SP8, it's a limitation. you can create your own simple types and use them in your entities. but the custom data structures you create in the dictionary don't show in list of available structures when you want to create a new complex attribute
