How do I explane for a blind man:

":=" is used in Pascal, at least that's the only language I've programmed in that uses it. Java much like C and other programming languages use "=" instead of ":=" this will assign one value to another.
Pascal used "=" as a comparison, which in words could be called "is equal to", to compare two variables in java you must use "==" .
The best way to describe ":=" with words for me is by using the word "assign", which is what my lecturer always reffered to it as.
So as far as I have ever seen ":=" does not exist in Java, but is used as "=" instead.
