How do I get Verizon to honor the $200 trade-in? (they only gave me $36).

I'm writing this while on hold for the "Verizon Device Recycling--rippoff--Program".  (877) 835-2024.
I've seen on line that many others have had the same problem.
I traded in my iphone4 (in great condition), followed all the directions to a T and they send me a gift card for $36.
It was promised to be $200 ($40 for the phone in good condition and $160 in promotional value).
Has anyone had any luck in getting the $200?  If so, how?
Thanks,
Tim.

Update:
I got through the hold (about an hour). "Debbie" said to go to the status website:

and check status.

Apple A1349 iPhone 4 16GB - Verizon
$200.00
Paid
$36.00
LCD is not working - Touch Screen not responsive
But the phone was in perfect working condition when I sent it in.
I told this to Debbie and asked to speak to a manager.  we waited a while for the manager, then she put me on hold again.
(So far, this appears to be a scam, where they just don't want to give you the promotional value of the phone).

  • BB won't honor the $200 trade if your phone didn't arrive by the 17th?

People are reporting all over social media that BB stores are denying people who preordered the note 4 the $200 trade in if their phone didn't come in on launch day??????
Well that is 99% of us.
If this is the case, this is the most dishonest thing I have ever seen from a major retailer. I was specifically told (per the trade in details) that the preorder must be placed in the time line (9/19/14-10/16/14). No mention that the phone must be received on the launch date to be able to use the $200 trade in promotion.
Can a BB rep please respond to this and give us accurate and reliable information?
We have been mislead by so many BB employees throughout this entire preorder experience it is mind blowing.
    Thanks....

    Hello again thegipper-
It is never our intention to mislead customers regarding the availability of products.  However, vendor agreements and product availability to influence what information we can give to customers.
A pre-order with Best Buy does not guarantee availability of that item on release day, it simply guarantees that you will have first crack at the product as we receive them from the manufacturer.  As this availability can be influenced by vendor agreements, product availability and shipping issues, we are not able to guarantee release date availability.  I apologize if you were given any information that we would promise that you would have your phone on the release date or for any incorrect information we supplied about the release date of the Verizon version.  We have no control over release dates being changed.
I’m truly sorry that you have not received your pre-ordered phone yet.  Best Buy continues to work with Samsung to get more inventory so that we can fulfill those pre-orders as quickly as possible.
Thank you for your patience during this process.

  • How do I get Verizon to honor unlimited data plan stated on receipt?

I was among those who upgraded their phones during the "glitch" that allowed customers to keep their unlimited data plans. Our two new iPhone 5s' arrived this week, along with receipts for each that, as far as I can tell, maintain our unlimited data plan.
When I called to activate the phones, the rep told me he couldn't guarantee we would keep the unlimited plans after activation, and the activation (along with the potential change to the 2GB plan) was irreversible. I asked to speak to a supervisor, who told me we still have the option for unlimited data and that it was just our luck of the draw. I took this to mean we lucked out with the glitch. However, when the rep got back on the line he said the supervisor meant that when he (the rep) activates our phones, it will kick us to the 2GB plan, and he may be able to switch us back to the unlimited if he acts fast enough, but it was no guarantee (hence "luck of the draw"). I decided to not act just yet and got off the phone.
So, is the rep pulling my leg? I understand I got to this point through what was later revealed to be a glitch, but I thought Verizon stated to the press they would honor the orders, not to mention I have receipts showing the new phones and our current plan that we've had for years.
How should I proceed with this? Thanks for any help.

Fortunately in all my dealings with the court system "written" takes a great sway over intent. You have someone sell you a service and they write this order is final with the additions etc. Then on the day the goods or services are provided the company states this was not supposed to be agreed to (intent) the contract is based on what was written and agreed to.
I am presently locked into a simular situation now with a home improvement contractor. On the contract it stated the job must be completed no later than October 13, 2013 or sooner. Its signed by them and us. Now they missed the contract date, they are claiming the agent for the company had no right to do so. They keep pushing the date further and further away.
Went a filed a court claim for the large money we paid plus simple interest on the amount. Also found another company who will do the job now at a cost $4,000.00 more than the other company. In my state the court can grant me either as relief. Also not doing the job is criminal in nature so we can file a police complaint for grand larceny. Bad business practice.
Evidently the company was served with the summons last week. Since they called and said the work will be done complete Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
They have to honor what was written. Same thing with Verizon via their press release.
I remember years ago an online retailer had a typo in their ad, the price should have been $250 but the printed ad said $25 in that case the companies ad had a disclaimer which said not responsible for typographical errors. In this case verizon had no such disclaimer at the check out process.

  • Logicboard replacement came with new serial that stops me from connecting w iMessage and FaceTime. Applecare ran out and now I am sure it is this issue... How can I get apple to honor the serial mess up?

The story is that I have an imac i7 that was still under Applecare when the logicboard coraked.
I brought it in for repair and got it back. Somehow imessage and facetime would never connect anymore and come up with connection errors yet everything else worked. I tried all tens or hundreds of suggestions over hte last few months and nothing worked.
So I resorted to a clean hard drive repartitioning and install of Mountain Lion.
To my surprise: it sill did not work.
That;s when I found an obscure post that I am quite certain is the problem: the poster had the exact some symptoms I had and NOTHING worked. Hrs of phone support etc. Until it dawned on him that he had a logic board replacement after which the issue occurred. He found that his serial was no longer the same as the original item and came up as invalid on the apple website and was not listed in the "About" of his iMac.
I immediately recognized the recent support symptom and motherboard replacement and checked the rest. And behold it is all exactly as he said. He had to bring it back to the service center and they put the original serial back in and everything worked again.
Here is my problem: months of troubleshooting have passed and my iMac went out of Applecare warranty. Support does not warrant an exception for the serial online and the service center wants to get paid    I am not wealthy. This computer is my life and I need them to change the serial back to what it was when I purchased the machine. Can someone suggest how I get help. Apple is acting like M-soft in this respect.

The only people who can possibly assist you with this is Apple Customer Relations, call your local Apple contact number and ask for Customer Relations then explain your situation clearly and politely (be firm but don't rant).
You might want to investiage what the local laws are regarding defective goods and 'fit for use' definitions on warranties etc. Consumer Protection can be a useful tool to use or bargain with if needed ...

  • HT4559 How do I get a list of the 200 new features for iOS 5

How do I get lists of the apparent 200 new features of iOS 5 for some reason I cannot find any in support on this website or anywhere!
Also I want a description of what each feature does. Mainly in safari but I'm getting a bit suspicious if any of the features exist. We pay our money there needs to be a list of what we get.

You mean for iOS 6 that was recently announced and won't be released until this fall?
If so, iOS updates are free - you won't be paying anything for it, and the same for iOS 5.
Apple has provided some of the new features included with iOS 6, but not list of all since iOS 6 has not been released yet. Some of the features included with the current iOS 6 BETA version may be removed or changed.

  • How can I get Verizon to honor new price? I bought online on 7/9 and picked up from store on 7/10. In that time the price dropped $100.

On top of that, I was told by the customer service rep I was chatting with to act fast before the sale ends. Only to have the price go down!

WGB1130 We understand wanting the best deal on your device. We offer different promotions and device prices are subject to change. This does not guarantee a price match and we would need to review this on a case by case situation. Other's who have may received courtesy adjustments could be based on other factors. It is not a policy to price match the phone but we would love to see what ther options are available. You can look into trading in your previous phone to try and help offset the costs http://bit.ly/GGnDDC

  • How do you get Verizon to honor something their customer care department told you?????????

Spoke to a very nice woman on 2/11/15 who kindly allowed me to override my update date (which is only 1 month away mind you) in order to get in on the G3 for free deal going on right now and may I point out that SHE RECOMMENDED IT SINCE IT WAS FREE. I told her that I would drive to a store that evening in order to try the phone out to make sure that is what we wanted and she was to call me this morning to set everything up. We had quite a lengthy conversation about the features of that phone compared to the Galaxy S5. Well, this morning my phone decided to block her calls twice for some reason so I called them. I get a different person that NOW tells me "Oh we can't give you that price although we are letting you upgrade now". WHAT????!!!!! I'm furious! I was wanting to get two of these for two of my lines of which I have 4 lines! I pay them $250 per stinking month for their service so they have made a MINT off of me and they cannot give me the phones for their advertised price?????? No way to override the date huh? RIGHT!!! No way to override the price huh??? RIGHT!!!! Well, I work for plenty of lawyers and I don't roll over and die on issues where I am wronged! I will fight this to the end so who in the world do I contact next to get this resolved???? OR lose 4 lines PLUS I will return the tablet I just purchased LAST NIGHT!!! As well as place horrible reviews on every site I can think of. Verizon you were wrong!

Verizon is corrupt in what they tell you and what they honor. Their right hand does not know what their left hand is doing.
I am so angry at them for what they are NOT doing to solve problems we have had with billing since October. I have been putting horrible reviews on every site I can think of as well. This typically is not my approach but I have exhausted every avenue of reason with them up to this point. They are so big they don't care. Only thing though is I live in a small community that does pay attention to things others say and I am telling it like it is. Verizon customer service is a group of dishonest, incompetent people.

  • Firefox 19.0 pdf viewer ignores pdf encryption - how do I get it to honor the encryption?

I encrypted a pdf with Adobe Acrobat so that the document's text couldn't be copied. However with the new Firefox pdf reader, the reader completely ignores this encryption so that the document's text can be copied.

I can confirm that problem: http://www.jeffersonscher.com/forumshots/no-copy.pdf
I guess the "security" offered by this feature is not very good if it's up to the viewer to honor it!
You might want to file a "bug" for this (you could do that on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi -- that's a new registration, separate from this forum). If you do, please note the number here for reference.

  • How can I get someone to answer the phone? I'm ready to give VERIZON my business. I sat on the phone for over 20 minutes only to be transferred to "Sales." I then sat on the phone for another 15 minutes!!!! I finally hung up.

How can I get someone to answer the phone? I'm ready to give VERIZON my business. I sat on the phone for over 20 minutes only to be transferred to "Sales." I then sat on the phone for another 15 minutes!!!! I finally hung up.

It takes an enormous amount of patience and time to get through to a qualified person.
My Samsung S5 was locked out and needed a factory reset. Including attempts to achieve this locally, it took over an hour before my problem was even addressed.
You may be interested in my journey to a very good technical support person.
First I called the local sales person who had given me his personal business card with the friendly advice to call me with any questions. No answer at about 8:30 am when the business was open. His voice mailbox was full.
Then I called the local store where I had purchased the phone. The person who answered the phone had learned all the proper stock phrases, but was not familiar with the issue, stated that there were no customers in the store, and I should go there in about an hour when there would be more staff. He suggested dialing *411 from my phone (which was locked). Then he gave me a number to call Verizon, which he had to look up, and it took a minute or so. The number was (removed). That is an internal number for employees and contractors and requires a code to access, obviously not designed for customers' use. He finally cut me off by stating that there were a number of customers in line waiting for his attention!
After researching all my papers I found 800-922-0204 on my bill. The automated message suggested a hold time of 5 minutes, it took 20 minutes for a Customer Service Representative to pick up, and then I was referred to technical assistance. The hold time was announced to take 5 minutes, after 12 minutes I finally was connected.
Fortunately I had my computer set up for Skype on a loudspeaker, and was able to do some other paperwork while waiting.
Persistence was rewarded by having the good fortune to be connected to a very experienced, qualified and patient technical support staff with the name of Thomas (removed). He solved my problem, answered my questions during the process of resetting the phone, and gave an example of courteous and kind customer service that I had never experienced before when dealing with any major internet company.

  • How can I get Verizon to install fiber in my neighborhood? Have been waiting 10 years.

How can I get Verizon to install fiber in my neighborhood?
I have been on the notification list for nearly 10 years with no action.
Current DSL download speed is only 3.0 Mbps, the max available for copper twisted pair, so I am told by tech support.
Unless Verizon will install fiber in my neighborhood, my only option to obtain faster internet service is to change to another provider, though I would prefer to remain a Verizon customer.
Any suggestions for alternate providers, under the circumstances?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Forget it. I've been waiting 13 years and every town around me has Fios, in fact my town is a small [27k population] city who provides the phone exchange numbers for the surrounding towns with Fios! Figure that out. I myself have given up and am moving on to Time Warner for my internet and phone and will not return even if fios does appear before the end times.. They are actually cheaper than verizon when flat rate phone service and real broadband speeds are figured in. Verizon only has last century's DSL technology available. Leave verizon, they don't care if do or not.

  • How do I get old texts from the Cloud

How do I get old text from the Cloud?   Issues with my phone forced the Verizon Tech to wipe my phone and start over.  He said the Cloud would hold everything and I could retrieve it later.   I can't find any of the saved texts that I had.   Help please.

Had you previously backed up your texts to the cloud? Yes, you can save things in the cloud, but you must first set it up to do so.

  • How can I get iTunes to display the tracks from a CD in their original (album) order?

To be absolutely honest, I don't really understand what this box is for, so I shall just use it to repeat and expand on my question. (I have already sent a "Feedback" comment on the same topic).
How can I get iTunes to display the tracks from a CD in their original (album) order?
It seems to me that there is something very basic wrong with the way iTunes handles CD Tracks.
Professionally produced CD tracks are seldom if ever in a randomised order. Why then does iTunes seem unable to display the tracks in the order they appear on the original CD source - whether from a personally owned CD or from a download from the iTunes Store?
Some music demands a specific, non-alphabetic sequence in order to make sense. Why does it seem that iTunes only offers Alphabetic, or reverse alphabetic order - both of which make a nonsense of the original, often intended order of tracks?
Why not replace the so-called "cover-art" in the bottom left hand corner if the iTunes window - which, while it may look attractive to some, gives the barest of information concerning the original disc, with a list of the original CD tracks in their original order, so that the user can easily reestablish the order in which they should be played.
As I would expect legibility might be a problem with doing this, why could not the original contents, (in their original order), at least, be displayed when the "cover art" is double clicked-on - the result of which at present gives me an enlarged version of the "Cover Art". While on the subject of the contents of the source disc, what about all the album notes which someone takes trouble to write in order to increase the appreciation of the music on the CD and the listener's general background knowledge of the artists involved. Such notes, it seems to me, have considerable intrinsic value in their own account. I would, I think, normally be prepared to buy such "Sleeve notes" - so long as a "taster" was supplied (as it is for the music) - for something like the cost of a single 'Tune" on iTunes.
These two aspects let Apple iTunes down enormously, in my opinion. I think that by chopping even quite protracted sequences of music up into bits does no one any favours - except perhaps Apple's already quite substantial bank balance. People have to be aware that two and a half, to three and a half minutes is a very short time to develop a piece of worthwhile music, and that there are many, many composers, not all of whom are alive today who have written music that huge masses of mankind value for the enrichment of their lives and the human condition in general.
Please make the viewing of iTunes tracks in their correct order by default possible. By all means have the alphabetical variations available as offering a different approach to the music, but not the sole approach to it - PLEASE.
    Frustratedly yours
    Alan Whitaker
PS I work at my old 24" iMac Intel Core 2 machine which runs OS "Tiger" - because it is more beautiful to look at, the screen is more pleasant to work on, and because, in some ways it is more capable (it will run FreeHand MX without needing a "patch"), than my more recent 21.5" which runs "Snow Leopard". (I don't find it that much slower, either).

    Dear Mike
Thanks for the support. I am utterly amazed that after all the hype about how good iTunes is that it cannot play a downloaded CD in the correct order, and that what that order should be is not available directly from within one's own iTunes installation. (I know that one can go back to the iTunes Store to check what the order should be, but having downloaded the tracks surely iTunes is clever enough to retrieve this important information.
My iTunes to differ from yours in that I have also noticed that it seems unable to download copies of my "talking books" in the correct order either. But in my case it downloads them - from a CD - in order, but with the first track downloaded first - so that it appears at the bottom of the column of tracks so that it would get played last! (At least this is, while being inexplicable, a relatively "logical" bit of blundering and because of this is relatively easy to put right!).
I like many genres of music, some of which are not really programmed except perhaps by the artist performing them. I know that Frank Sinatra was very careful to programme his album songs to obtain a particular effect and in relation to the keys of the music. iTunes presumes to know better.
Film scores may be totally randomly put together, in some cases, but in others the order is vital to one's appreciation of the music as a whole and how it relates to the plot of the film.
In symphonic music most works are divided into sections and are conceived by the composer that way. Some individual sections may gain a life of their own if played separately, but they are never complete in the sense that the composer envisaged them without being placed in their proper context.
Opera and probably most choral music too, is similar except that the words may well become meaningless if the order is changed at the whim of a piece of ill-written computer code, while ballet music has to be heard totally within its sequential context or it becomes meaningless.
Finally, I would venture that iTunes, by jumbling up the order of the tracks as recorded on a CD, does an immense disservice, not only to the music on a particular CD, but to music in general, by expressing everything in terms of "Songs" - which it seems to interpret as stand-alone items of between 2 and 4 minutes whatever the genre. Even the way the iTunes publicity speaks of how many "songs" it can store instead of how many minutes or hours of recorded sound. This has to be another brick in the wall of "dumming-down" of people's expectations, and the shortening of their attention spans.
I don't know about anyone else, but I feel betrayed by Apple over this. Perhaps the look, feel and general presentation of an item are not the most desirable features of a consumer product. Maybe it should be judged more on it fitness for the purpose for which it was sold. There is one other possibility - that Apple are trying to redefine "Music" - and that everything that lasts longer than about 3.5 minutes or is in the form of what could for want of a better term be called symphonic in the broadest sense is something else - not "Music" within Apple's new definition, at all!
Well that's off my chest! now I can get down to creating some sort of order in my iTunes Libraries, knowing that I have to reconsult all the sources in order to confirm the source playing order.
Anyway thanks again. At least I know that it is not just me

I am changing from Word to Pages. I have created my custom template with all my styles etc and that is what comes up when I go for a New Document. Fine. How do I get it to use the same Custom Template when I use Pages to open a Word document?

The template is a document in itself, it is not applied to an existing document whether it is a Pages document or a Word document converted to a Pages document.
You would need to either copy and paste content, using existing styles, or apply the styles to the converted Word document.
You can Import the Styles from an existing document and those imported Styles can be used to override the current document's styles:
Menu > Format > Import Styles
The process is simplified if the styles use the same names, otherwise you will need to delete the style you don't want and replace it with the one that you do want when asked, then the substitution is pretty straightforward.
