How do I hide off stage objects ?

Hello,
I have just started an internet course on Flash. The second assignment is creating a 720 x 90 animated banner ad. When I test the movie in Flash Professional the objects that I have outside the stage are still showing.
I want to start an object outside the stage on one side and have it go across and out the other side.
How can I just show just what's in the stage ?
I am using version CS5.
Thanks

Ok cool thanks guys.
I think I understand whats going on. If I view the .swf file it will show everything, but if I view the same movie in .html the objects will be confined to the stage parameters I set. In this case 720 x 90.
Is that correct ?
I guess my next question is where is that darn html file ? Or how can I save my movie to a .html file ?

  • Off stage object's

    Hello Adobe community,
    I need a little help with a project i' m working. I' m trying to create a web site and i'm using flash catalyst because i want some specific actions on it. On flash catalyst stage, i have an image with specific dimensions, let's say 1600x1200, and a button in front of the image. Also i have an object, let's assume an image, dimensions 1600x400, outside the stage, on the right side. When i'm clicking the button, this object is moving, from right to left, and is entering in the stage replacing the first image. This is my project, and here is where my problem begins. I'm having the "classic" problem with scale, so after a litllte research i found something here.  I'm importing the fxp file to flash builder. On the <Application> tag, in the Main.mxml file, i'm removing the width and height attributes and replece them with this attribute: preinitialize="systemManager.stage.scaleMode='showAll'" . From flash builder menu, i'm choosing Project > Export Release Build to publish a version of my swf. I create an index.html page and i embeding the swf there. So,
    The file is only scaling horizontally, which means that i only see a part of my page, something like 3200x300 on the top of the screen. The rest height is cropped and the page is blank
    I can see the object that was outside the flash catalyst stage and shouldn't be visible.
    Any idea how can i fix those two things?

    When i'm using this code:
    <title>Untitled Document</title>
    <style type="text/css">
    body {
        margin-left: 0px;
        margin-top: 0px;
        margin-right: 0px;
        margin-bottom: 0px;
    </style>
    </head>

    <param name="movie" value="file:///C|/Users/user/Desktop/project scale/Main.swf" />
    <param name="quality" value="high" />
    <param name="LOOP" value="false">
    <param name="SCALE" value="exactfit">
    <embed src="file:///C|/Users/user/Desktop/project scale/Main.swf" width="100%" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" height="100%" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" loop="false" scale="exactfit" />
    </object>
    </body>
    the result is this:
    the blue arrow shows the area, that shouldn't shown, and the black arrow shows the area that should be my index page. The stage i used i flash catalyst and flash builder is the size of the image shown with the black arrow, 1600x1200. The rest are (blank area) is cropped..
    If i set dimensions on the above html code:
    body {
        width:1600px;
        height:1200px;
        margin-left: 0px;
        margin-top: 0px;
        margin-right: 0px;
        margin-bottom: 0px;
    and the result is this:

  • Off-stage objects affecting performance

    Hello,
    I have a list of 50 rows (with images and buttons and stuff)
    that the user has to be able to scroll through, and it has to wrap
    around, top to bottom. So imagine a 1x50 spreadsheet, but you
    really only see 4 rows at a time. Common sense says that you would
    only build a little of it above, and a little below the stage so
    that you can scroll smoothly and shuffle things as needed. For
    reasons I won't go into (ok, it was easier) I built the entire 50
    row "spreadsheet", and then do my scrolling, and then shuffle
    things to the top and bottom of my list as needed. My question is,
    do all those things that are off the stage eat up performance? They
    have buttons with listeners, graphics, and references to other
    objects in them. At some point if it gets too big, I know that the
    mere task of moving things becomes noticeable, but this list will
    never get over 100. thanks.

    yes. just because you can't see them, they still must be
    tracked and maintained by flash.

  • How far off stage can I move a tweened object

    Flash Pro CC 2014, all updates.
    I have a movie clip that is about 5500 pixels wide. I need to have it enter and exit across a 1920 x 1080 stage. As I try to move it to the left, it won't let me motion tween it far enough to get it off stage. It reaches the point where the left side of the object is at -3780 and that's the limit. I can drag it farther but when I release it the movie clip snaps right back to this distance.
    Also, I need to activate roving frames so the motion is smooth, but for some reason I don't get the option, it's grayed out in the menu. Don't know if this relates to problem #1 or if I am just doing something wrong.
    This one is a hot potato, as usual, I have someone hyperventilating to get this back to them.
    Thanks for any help!

    Except that it still won't work. That's one of the first things I tried.
    If I position the mc at x = 1980 so it's left edge is just off stage, then motion tween the span, then go to the last frame of the span, I enter -5478 into the x value in the properties panel and it turns it back to -3779 when I change focus just like when I drag it. It's like there's a limit on how far it will let me go.
    If the mc is not in a tween I can slide it left forever (thank you unlimited pasteboard), but in a tween it refuses to go past x = -3789. Is there a tween limit somewhere? It won't go more than 7740 to the right either, just snaps right back when you release it or change focus in the properties panel.

  • How to set timer intervals for object + and a motion for entering stage

    Hi, I am making a simple game but I have a couple problems/queries.
    1) My game is a touch an object and you get a point game, currently the objects appear randomly over the screen, however I am trying to get it to slide into the screen similar to the Fruit Ninja game, but not limited to entering from one side, does anyone know how to set this?
    2) As I mentioned above my objects appear randomly, I have set a timer when I change the timer from 800 to another number, it just makes all the objects on the screen last for 800 milliseconds all at the same time then disappear and appear somewhere else on the screen for another 800 milliseconds and it repeats, what I am trying to do is make them come at different intervals, for example:
    Object 1 - constantly appears, so when the 800 millisecond is over, it comes back on a different part of the stage
    Object 2 - I want it to appear every 5 seconds, so when the 800 millisecond is over it will come back on the stage in 5 seconds, but not instantly like Object 1
    But I have no idea how to do this :/ anyone have the code needed for me to do this?
    Sorry for the long questions, I only asked because I really am stuck, I have been trying to do this for over 2 weeks now.
    Thanks very much.

    The only thing that affects TopLink is the increment by, as increasing this is what allows TopLink to reduce the number of times it needs to go to the database to get additional numbers. Ie, an increment value of 1 means TopLink needs to go the database after each insert; an increment value of 50 allows it to insert 50 times before having to get a value from the sequence. The cache on the sequence object in the database affect the database access times. While it may improve the access times when the sequence number is obtained from the database, but I believe the network access to obtain the sequence is the greater concern and slow down for most applications. It all depends on the application usage and design though - an increment (and application cache) of 50 numbers seems to be the best default.
    I cannot say what effect the cache vs nocache settings will have on your application, as it will depend on the database load. Only performance testing and tuning will truly be able to tell you whats best for your application.

  • How can i hide object in line chart?

    In Webi XI R2, i am preparing a line chart for which on x-axis i have two objects like "month name" and "month ID". The purpose of "month ID" is to sort the month name. So sorting is applied on "month ID" column. Now how can i hide this "month ID" column, but still sorting is applied so that month name is displayed in correct order.
    secondly, on the x-axis values are displaying like "AUG/00987","SEP/00988". i.e Month name/month ID. How can i make the line chart to display only month name but still sorting needs to be applied.
    Please advise.

    Hi Raveendra,
    You can try to hide the column from the webi report in a TABLE, and might just work with the table, and make them charts.
    regards,
    Shreyash.

  • How to install business content Info Objects..

    Hello all.
    I am trying to do some BW extraction in our sandbox. Unfortunately I dont know how to install BC infoobjects. I have searched thru this forum but am still not fully sure. I have the source system client connected to BI. I replicated the datasources and see a ton of datasources under the UNASSIGNED NODES tree.
    Eg: How do I install the InfoObject 0Material. Can somone tell me steps..I think I can figure out the rest after that.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
    The Data Warehousing Workbench for installing BI Content has three navigation windows:
    In the left-hand window you determine the view of the objects in the middle area of the screen.
    In the middle window, you select the objects that you want to activate.
    In the right-hand window, you make the settings for installing the BI Content. The right-hand window also contains an overview of the objects you have selected, and it is here that you start installation of BI Content.
    In the Data Warehousing Workbench, you use the Navigation Window On/Off pushbutton in the toolbar to display or hide the left-hand navigation window. The rest of this section assumes that the left-hand navigation window is displayed.
    2. Assign Relevant Source Systems
    If you want to assign a source system, select the Source System Assignment function. The Choose Source System by Default? dialog box appears.
    Select one or more source systems by setting the corresponding indicators in the Default Assignment column.
    Only ever select the source systems that you really need, otherwise you may have to wait unnecessarily when objects are collected.
    The assignment of the source system is only relevant for source-system dependent objects (such as transfer rules, file DataSources, and InfoPackages). If more than one source system is available, only those objects assigned to the specified source system are collected ready for the transfer. Objects that have not been assigned to the specified source systems are ignored.
    For more information about the special features inherent in activating process chains that can reference source-system dependent objects, see the Customer Content documentation, under Process Chains and Process Variants.
    If you do not select a source system, all the source systems are assigned automatically. You can change your selection later using the Source System Assignment function.
    3. Group Objects To Be Included, Determine Mode of Collection for Objects
    Make the settings you require from the following selection lists on the right-hand side of the screen:
    Grouping
    Choose the objects that you want the system to include. The groupings combine the objects from a particular area. You have the following options:
    Only Necessary Objects (default setting)
    Data Flow Before
    Data Flow Afterwards
    Data Flow Before and Afterwards
    If you change the default setting (Only Necessary Objects), the new setting becomes the default setting for your user.
    The grouping selection has an impact on system performance during BI Content installation. For more information, see View of Objects and Object-Specific Recommendations.
    Collection Mode
    Select how you want to collect the objects:
    Collect Automatically (default setting): The data is collected when the objects are selected.
    Start Manual Collection: The data is only collected when you choose Collect Dependent Objects.
    Set the collection mode to Start Manual Collection. You can select all the objects without having to wait.
    4. Determine View of Objects
    In the left-hand navigation window, specify how you want the objects to be displayed. For more information, see View of Objects and Object-Specific Recommendations.
    5. Transfer the Objects to Collected Objects
    In the central area of the screen, select the objects that you want to install, and drag and drop them into the right-hand Collected Objects area of the screen.
    The Find Object function allows you to use strings of characters (for example, 0CUST) or wild card searches (for example, 0CUST_*B) to search for objects.
    Input help is available for every type of object: Double-click on the Select Objects icon in the tree structure of the corresponding object type to display the Input Help for Metadata screen. Select the required objects. Choose Transfer Selection.
    If you implement BI Service API Releases lower than 7.0 in the source system, you have to install the active version of the BI Content DataSources in the source system and replicate them in the BI system before you can use them for transferring data into BI. For more information, see Installing BI Content DataSources and Metadata Upload for SAP Systems.
    In the Collected Objects area of the screen, the system displays the selected objects and all dependent objects. Collected objects are stored by default in the repository cache. This reduces the time it takes to access these objects when you want to use them again.
    When you transfer objects into the Collected Objectsarea of the screen, these objects are also added to the tree structure of the corresponding object type in the central area of the screen and stored for your user. This personal object list can be called up each time the program is restarted.
    If you want to remove objects from your personal list, select the objects that you want to remove and choose the Remove Object from Display option from the context menu or click on the icon.
    Objects that are listed in several tree structures can only be changed in the place where they first appear. All additional instances of these objects are grayed out so you cannot modify them.
    6. Check Settings for Collected Objects
    Check the following columns in the Collected Objects area of the screen:
    Install
    The following BI Content objects are highlighted in this column by default:
    Objects that are being transferred for the first time. There is not an active version of these objects in the system.
    BI Content objects that have been redelivered in a new version. These objects can be identified by the Content time stamp in the corresponding object tables.
    When setting this indicator, check whether the checkbox refers to a folder of an individual object: If the checkbox refers to a folder, the indicator is set for all the objects that belong to this folder. If the checkbox refers to an individual object, the indicator is set for a single object and the indicators for the other objects in the folder are not changed. The same applies if you deselect this indicator.
    In the context menu, the following options are available for the installation:
    a. Install All Below
    The object in the selected hierarchy level and all objects in the lower levels of the hierarchy are selected as to Install.
    b. Do Not Install All Below
    The Install indicators are deselected for the object in the selected hierarchy level and all objects in the lower levels of the hierarchy.
    Match (X) or Copy
    If the SAP delivery version and the active version can be matched, a checkbox is displayed in this column.
    With the most important object types, the active version and the SAP delivery version can be matched.
    Note that the InfoSource TRCS supports the match, but the 3.x InfoSource ISTD does not.
    From a technical point of view, the SAP delivery version (D version) is matched against the M version. As in most cases the M version is identical to the active version (A version) in a customer system, this is referred to as a match between the D and A versions for reasons of simplification.
    When a match is performed, particular properties of the object are compared in the A version and the D version. First it has to be decided whether these properties can be matched automatically or whether this has to be done manually. If you are sure that the object will be used in the same way after you install BI Content, you can perform an automatic match for those properties. When performing matches manually you have to decide whether the characteristics of a property from the active version are to be retained, or whether the characteristics are to be copied from the delivery version.
    Assign points if useful.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Hari

  • Animating A Stage Object

    I want to cause objects to move off stage after a button is
    pressed. I've looked at different as3 code examples but can't get
    them to work. My goal is to have several objects move smoothly off
    stage in the up, left, right, and down directions after button is
    pressed. Thanks

    I recommend using the Tweener classes for small motion
    tweens, it is very easy to implement and use...
    http://code.google.com/p/tweener/
    Once you know how that works, you have to put this in your AS
    code
    button_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, moveItems);
    function moveItems(event:MouseEvent) :void {
    //insert code here to move objects
    }

  • How can I use the same object in the different jsp files?

    I am doing a project. I have finished my jave source files and compiled them successfully. And I also wrote a main method to test my classes, they also worked well. Now I am trying to use my jave code in the jsp files. But I meet a problem, in my method of java source file, I can generate a object of a class, and use it in the whole main method. But in the different jsp files, how can I do same thing?
    For example, in the .java file,
    Vector vl = new Vector();
    While ...{
    vl.add(...)
    In each of my .jsp file I want to do one loop of the above, meanwhile I want to do that in the same object.
    I hope you can understand what I mean. Really need your help!

    put your object into a session and you can the use it in all the jsps as long as the session is valid. Or you could create a static variable in the class that only creates one instance off an object and then create a static method to return this object.

  • How can I hide an app on my iPad2 with iOS5?

    I would like to know how I can hide an app on my iPad, but still be able to use the app?

    Demo's answer explains how to hide it in iTunes... but if I understand correctly, you're trying to hide the icon on the iPad screen but still have the app on the iPad? There's no way to do that. You could put an app in a folder, which isn't exaclty hiding it, but is the closest you can come. If you enable restrictions the app will be hidden, but that only works for certain apps and you'd have to turn off the restrictions to use it.

    I have an old ipod (it's the very thin oblong one in purple, the one before the one that does video) and want to know how to get everything off it and into my iTunes library.  My old computer died and the original library was lost, so don't have any of the content saved anywhere else.  I now have an iPhone 5S and listen to music on that, so want to be able to listen to things from the old ipod too.

    Apple normally does not get involved in handling lost objects like this.  Since a real name is not installed it will be much more difficult.
    You can try contacting Apple support at the US number, assume you are US going to BWI from the listing: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 and explain the situation and see if they offer any suggestions.

  • How can I hide a JPanel?

    Ok thanks everyone. I've taken the MyPanel class from here http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/painting/step3.html
    class MyPanel extends JPanel {
        private int squareX = 50;

            g.setColor(Color.BLACK);
            g.drawRect(squareX,squareY,squareW,squareH);

  • How can I hide a text label as I would a control or indicator?

    As I have multiple indicators that must have the same identifier to the operator I can not use the indicator label as the items identifier. At times I want to hide the indicator and label. How can I hide the label? Please recall a text label just sits on the front panel as desired. It isn't within a raised or lowered box. In the attached sample I would like to hide "MyLabel" when the date indicator is hidden.

    Heres a way. Its a little involved, but it will work:
    1. Customize a control or indicator to remove the border (I used a string control)
    a. Right click on the control or indicator, go to Advanced Customize
    b. Click on the wrench on the tool bar to enter edit mode
    c. Select the border and drag it off to the side
    d. Reduce the size of the border to a single pixel (it wont let you delete it)
    e. Rubber band a box around the 1 pixel border to select it and use the cursor keys to move it within the white space of the string control. It will effectively disappear. You will NOT be able to move it with the mouse as LV will try to resize the border instead of moving it.
    f. Using the color tools suck up the background color of your vi and paint i
    t into the white space of the control.
    g. Make the control the correct size to hide your label(s). Make sure it is right as you will NOT be able to resize the control outside of the customize function (i.e.: while on your front panel)
    h. Click on the tweezers to go back to customize mode.
    i. Give your control a descriptive name
    j. Right click on the control, go to Visible Items and uncheck label to hide the label.
    k. Save your new control
    2. Back on your front panel, place your new control over what you want to hide and programmatically make it visible or invisible as desired.
    I have included a copy of your original vi, modified to hide and unhide your label. I have also included the customized string control that accomplishes this. You may resize the control as needed by customizing it as described above.
    The only disadvantage to this method is that if you want to hide multiple labels they must be in the same area of the front panel. Otherwise you must have seve
    ral hiding controls.
    An advantage is that you will not have to make the original control or indicator (i.e.: the date indicator) visible or invisible as it can be hidden as well.
    Hope this does what you want.
    Good Luck.

  • How do I turn off the Ipod Charging Tone?

    Firstly please don't say by turning down the sound slider because if I do I can't play the music on my ipod whilst it's charging.
    Right the situation is that my iPod touch is connected via usb in my car so I can play music on the move, also as a bonus my iPod is charging at the same time, but here's the problem because it is charging not only do I get the music from the iPod I also get the annoying charging tone through the speakers. I can't find a setting for this specific tone in the settings, and searches would suggest that it can't be turned off. I do hope this is not the case becasue if it is it's madness. Also if I connect via aux cable if the usb is connecting ie the iPod is charging I still get the charging tone trilling it's merry way.
    How can I turn off this tone. I know I can disconnect the usb ie stop the charging but that defeats to object as I then gradually use up the power meaning on long journeys I have to either dispense with the iPod or put up with the tone. Also when I get to my destination instead of having a fully charged iPod I am already down on power.
    HELP?

    Okay, well I'm still not aware of any iPod which repeats the charging tone. Have you checked in the Connector recess of your iPod to make sure there is no muck in there, or that there is no damage to the connector pins? This is because I still think that the connection between the cable, dock or whatever and the iPod is not staying "made". In other words, the connection is disconnecting and reconnecting and every time it reconnects, the beep sounds.
    Can you watch the iPod's display? When charging, the battery symbol shows the lightning bolt or, when full, the plug in the battery. Does that change to the battery only just before the charging beep? If so, that suggests that the connection is being repeatedly broken and re-made. Also check the cable (just in case).
    If you cannot solve this I think there are two options available to you.
    Ask any of your friends (who have an iPod Touch with the same iOS version on it) if their iPod does the same as yours; if they are aware of a setting for this and if so, how to turn it off, or;
    Make an appointment at the Genius bar of your local Apple store and see if they can sort this out.
    Like you, I do not see the "change with buttons" option mentioned by kartabyaa, although I only have iOS 4.2.1 on my Touch. (I don't believe the iOS version is different to mine in this respect, but if you ask someone with the same iOS version as you, that should help confirm or refute what the iPod can and should do.)
