How do I import movies, home videos etc from my Laptop to iTunes (then to iPad)?

I am trying to import some Home Videos and some DVDs onto my iPad and iPhone, I have the video on my Laptop but I am struggling to get iTunes to import it.... In the help it states to drag and drop, this did not work, import, this did not work... I am now lost for what to do?

How I can upload all my music CDs from my laptop's itunes to the iCloud? I want to free up space on my laptop and thought the iCloud was a storage site.

It's a syncing service, not a storage site.  You can access your CD music from iCloud you have to subscribe to iTiunes Match: http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/.

  • How can i import bookmars history cookies etc. from my Opera brower to the newest version of Mozilla Firefox?

I was useing Opera - got dull with it, now i want to use Mozilla Firefox, but i cannot import anything from my old browser. While i was installing the new browser it asked me if i want to import any bookmarks history passwords etc. from any other browsers and the only option was Microsoft Internet Explorer, there was no option where i could choose Opera.....

If Firefox doesn't offer to import the Opera bookmarks then export the bookmarks in Opera to an HTML file and import that file in Firefox.

  • Importing Movies, Music Videos, etc.

Whenever I import a DVD THAT I OWN into iTunes from another folder on my computer, it copies it. I don't want to have 93984349Gigs of movies when I just need 100GB or so. Where can I place my video files to where they are just imported, like the music for iTunes?

Figured it out. Owned movies & media needs to be saved directly to the "Movies" folder in the iTunes folder. That way you won't have doubles of every media file.

  • HT1304 when i try to import movies and tv shows from my desktop to itunes it just sits there. does not upload nor does it give me an error message or anything, it just sits there and does nothing.

    help

By default you can only add M4V, MP4 and MOV files to iTunes. Simply drag and drop them into your library. If you have videos in other file formats (like AVI or MKV) you have to convert them one by one with a tool like HandBrake.
On Mac there are dedicated tools that will import videos for you, even without reconverting them. Additionally they will download artwork, put them in the Movies or TV Show category, etc. But I don't know if such tools exist for windows.

  • NOT ABLE TO IMPORT MUSIC AND VIDEO FILES FROM IPOD TO COMPUTER/ITUNES LIBRARY !!!!

Hi.... I am having IPod Nano 5th Generation. I can access music and video files (that are stored in Ipod memory) in Ipod. But when I connect the ipod to computer, I am not able to access/import these music and video files through computer. Also, I am not able to see any folders like DCIM, Contacts, etc... in the memory of IPod. Can any body help me out... ?

Search it up on google.com.  There's a lot of apps that will help you do this.  Check out this one:

I tried the import software (trial version) and it was fine but I didn't want to pay for software.  You can authorize up to 5 computers in the house to access your iTunes music and other iTunes purchases. Open iTunes, you can go under Store and select Authoize this computer.
    Good luck!

How do I get home video clips from iMovie Mac to iMovie iPad?  Surely there is some degree of cross-compatibility?  I have a load of clips in iMovie on my MBP that I wanna download to my iPad2 so that I can edit movies on the move.  Any ideas?  (The clips are in a .mov format, they have been imported / converted into this format in iMovie, original files were from a JVC camcorder in some other strange format.)

I copied the iTunes file from the external drive and it's in both places.  I thought all I would need is the iTunes program (which I downloaded to new computer) and my iTunes library file.  There must be something else that's missing.  My iTunes library looks the same on the new computer as it does when I open it on the external drive.  If I click on an iTunes library song from my new computer, it will only play if I have the external drive plugged in.
My back-up drive is a mess.  I have multiple copies of music, video, photo, and document files and I don't know how that happened. ={  Obviously, I don't know how to back up stuff properly and there are back-up files extending over a 6- to 8-year period.  I think all I did was just drag and drop the main folders from the back-up drive to the same main folders on the C: drive.  Also (and I'm kind of fuzzy on this) Windows used to automatically save music files in a folder within my document files (which makes no sense to me).  As my Jewish friends would say, "Oy Vey!"

  • HT3775 how do you import movies from an i-kam xtreme eyewear video camera hunting glasses into imovie?

how do you import movies from an i-kam xtreme eyewear video camera hunting glasses into imovie?

    Here you go Karsten:
    http://www.hunterspec.com/content/i-kam-xtreme®-video-eyewear-0
Looks like it records in AVI format at 25 fps. I think that should import to iMovie OK - if not it should import to iPhoto and then be available in the iMovie Events Library under "iPhoto Videos". Importing shouldn't be a problem based on this extract from the web page:
"The glasses can be hooked directly to a PC with the supplied USB cable to view the video, or when using the Micro SD card, it can be inserted into a card reader to watch footage."

EDIT: Also, see this point under Features: "Easy PC/Mac USB Connection (no driver needed)"

Use File/Import/Movie and navigate to the file.

  • How do I import movies from camera?

    Hi.
I have a Lumix FZ38 camera. Although iPhoto 6 does not recognise the make or model, it does at least let me import still photos.
But how do I import movies? They are in "Motion JPEG" format, but neither iPhoto, Quicktime or iMovie recognises them. I can navigate in Finder to a camera directory called PRIVATE where I can see the movies in a sub-folder, as .MTS files. How do I get them into iPhoto, or failing that, onto my Mac?
If I had chosen to record using AVCHD Lite they would be in H.264 and therefore not a problem, but the 'Quick Record' button which I use records in this other format.
(I'm not about to upgrade my hardware or software BTW, so please don't suggest that.)

You need to use iMovie for these movies, but there's a particular protocol needed for getting MTS >format material from your camera to the app. I have no idea if iMovie 6 supports it or not. Post on >the iMovie forum for more.
    I will try - thanks.
iPhoto doesn't support AVCHD Lite which is a proprietary version of the AVCHD format peculiar to >Panasonic. I know that recent versions of iMovie do support this material. I have no idea if iMovie 6 >will, again post on the iMovie forum for more.
I thought H.264 was widely supported by Apple (e.g. on iPods etc)? The MacWorld reviews suggested this wouldn't a problem.
(I'm not about to upgrade my hardware or software BTW, so please don't suggest that.)
Well you may need to be realistic about the chances of software from 2006 supporting formats that >didn't even exist then.
I'm not being stubborn for the sake of it. My computer is a good balance of 2006 hardware and software. I'm not even sure that iLife '09 is compatible with a G5? And even if it was I'd barely use it (iTunes yes, but that's not iLife; Photoshop yes, ditto) so shelling out for it, just for a version of iPhoto isn't an option really. I just want a way to replay my movies outside my camera, is all. H.264 was one of the reasons I bought that camera (I've read about that format for literally years in Mac magazines.)

  • I'm trying to import a home video on to imovie.

i'm trying to import a home video and make it part of an imovie.  When I click on import it says nothings been selected. what do I do to import a CD movie IN TO an iMovie? thanks

Can you drag the file off of the CD onto the Mac Desktop? Or is it a DVD? You might need to go through some extra steps to convert the DVD into something that iMovie can understand. For instance HandBrake can convert a DVD into .mp4 format which iMovie can then import into the iMovie Events Library.
