How do I keep the Hotspot feature on my iphone4 from timing out every 90 seconds?
It seems that Apple has decided that 90 seconds is long enough for inactivity on the hotspot feature shared between Iphone4 and iPad2. Anyone know how to keep it alive longer than 90 seconds. It would be nice if Apple made a software change to allow users to select their preferred timeout period. Ideally minimum of 5 minutes before diconnecting between devices but adding at least the option of 15, 30 60 minutes would help. What a pain to have to constantly restart the connection if you get interrupted for a couple of minutes and it shuts off.
In System Preferences > Mission Control > UNcheck "Displays have seperate spaces". Your second monitor will now function the way it did in 10.8.

How do you keep the hotspot activated?
I love the hotspot feature and am glad they have enabled that feature on the iPad and iPhone. Yes I know the data is no longer unlimited for most, but the feature is cool none the less. My question for the community though - is there any way to set the hotspot feature up just like a wifi network? For example, my iPhone is logged into my home wifi network. When I leave home, the phone logs out and switches to 3G. (I don't have the iPhone 5 yet) When I return home it logs back into wifi without me having to do anything. I tried turning my iPad LTE hotspot on and connecting my phone. I works great, but after a period of time it logs off and I have to retoggle the hotspot on the iPad. It would really be nice if when I get the new iPhone, every time the iPhone is within range of the iPad it will automatically connect so the iPad can use LTE over the phone. Having to always turn the hotspot device screen back on and toggle is just a bit of a pain. If it was always on and allowed connected devices to reconnect with ease it would be really nice. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
This looks to be an issue only with iOS6. I have a New iPad (3rd Gen) and used the hotspot feature without incident until I updated to iOS6. Now I experience the same problem you have described. Maybe the upcoming iOS 6.1 (bug fix) will correct this. I'm thinking about backout out iOS6 and seeing if iOS5 resolves the problem. Good luck.

You need to make sure with Verizon that the feature is active on your plan. Then, go to Settings>General>Cellular>Personal Hotspot and set it to "On". Once you've enabled it, you'll see it at the top level of Settings. For further information, see the manual:

We have an intermittent error here, and I'm a rookie. The error results in a 500 being sent to the customer every 10th-20th POST and only occurs under heavy load. The heavy loading is over the for the day, but it'll be back.
My first suspicion was the app code doing transaction work and having database performance problems. But the app is non-transactional and the database is fine. The server farm nodes (4) are all experiencing the problems at equal rates, and the other apps on the farm are fine, so it appears to be app-specific rather than rooted in server state or database state.
I looked at the stack a little more closely and it appears to be some kind of internal persistence issue, but a completely foreign one to me. We have no Persistent Stores configured, so I don't know where to even start on this puppy.

But when I went to the Data Source for this connection, I found it's a non-transactional driver. That's what made me go back and give the trace a second look. I don't see any references to the Data Source in question. It's OpenJPA stuff and Session persistence stuff.Non-XA drivers can still participate in an XA transaction via a variety of JDBC data source options - for example, labeled "1PC" and "LLR" on the console. (If you want to understand the particulars search for "JTS" or "LLR" in the JDBC edocs).
You seem to be suggesting maybe the setting can be made in a config doc, possibly of the app itself, right? Right. EJBs have a transaction-timeout attribute.
As opposed to setting it in the console. WebLogic has a domain wide default transaction-timeout setting that can be set on the console, but I tend not to recommend using it. In addition, there's something called a "deployment plan" which can be used to override some of the common EJB attributes via configuration, but I'm not personally familiar with its usage.

I wonder if this thing couldn't be telling me it's waiting on the persistence subsystem to come available to store simple session data? Sometimes the problem is that there are periodic app requests that are more complex/larger than others. Sometimes the system is simply overloaded, and takes 30 seconds to honor a request that might normally take 10 seconds.
That other app is all about persistence. What if app2 is sucking some persistence subsystem dry and app 1 is waiting just to store session data? Could be.
If the nonXA thing really does kill the quick timeout workaround, how could I health-check the persistence subsystem?Don't know. At a wild guess I'd check for CPU's at 100% on all involved serves, and examine database stats. -

The website maybe using autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from filling the name automatically.
You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to test that.

How do I keep the "use iCloud" in Settings Keynote from turning off
I recently opened Keynote on my Ipad IOS5. All of my presentations disappeared and I got dialog that they had been put into Icloud and were no longer visible.
On my Iphone 4s I can open Keynote and they are all there.
So I go to settings and to Keynote in setting and switch the Use Icloud to on. They I go back to the Keynote app and no presentations. So I go back to settings and it's back to off. I try this a couple of more times, restart the Ipad and get the same result. I can't keep the Use Icloud on "on".Brad805,

The numeric data on points on the graph that are close is overlapping, so you see two numbers in the same place. We can't figure out how to fix this.

How can I keep the leading zero in zip codes from disappearing in Numbers spreadsheet?
I have a spreadsheet with addresses, and the leading 0 of the zip codes (thanks New Jersey) keeps disappearing... How do I correct this?

It's easy for 5-digit ZIP codes to use the Number System format. Set to Base 10 and 5 places. Part of the goodness of this approach is that if you have already lost the zeros to the Automatic Format, this will reconstitute them.
ZIP 5 plus 4 codes are not a problem because the dash in the middle causes a default to Text.

Depends on your plan. Some plans include the mobile hot spot.
Others do not. Post the name of your plan or just look it up at Verizon Wireless web portal.
If its not included you can add it for a cost of $30 for 2GB.
on my account it was $20 for 2 GB but that price is no more.

How do I keep the order of sequentially named images from randomizing on import?
I have several thousand images that I've named sequentially and I'd like to add them to my book, so that each image takes up a single page and the images display sequentially. The issue I've been having is that the order becomes jumbled when the images are imported.
I've been importing images a hundred or so at a time using different methods. When I go to INSERT, CHOOSE and then select my files they land on the page initially in the correct order. When I change their placement to INLINE their order randomizes.
I've also tried this process with only five images and it doesn't seem to make a difference.
As a way of trying to work around this, I found that if I make a pages document with the correct order and then insert it as a new chapter, the order seems to improve. But still the image order becomes jumbled badly in some areas. There does seem to be some improvement though.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to deal with this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
One more thing: The images themselves are very similar to one another and so the only way I've been able to tell which is which for sure is by selecting it and reading it's name in the inspector. Is it possible that this is actually some kind of lag between what I've selected and the image name updating? The files that I've been working with were originally exported automatically from a PDF and then renamed and resized using Automator. The names are sequential 00001 - 15000.gif but for some reason they only import in the correct order after I've run them through my PS action... Which is slow going unfortunately. I agree that it's unlikely that their appearance has anything to do with the issue. Not sure what was causing the problem, but I'd like to if anyone willing to make an educated guess happens to be reading.
The method I use to make a multipage iBook without placing each image individually is to edit my chapter template so that it's just full-page, linked, text boxes. Then I make a new chapter, grab up to 200 images in the finder and drag them on to the page while holding command. This places the images in the text box and adds pages automatically to fit everything I'm inserting. -
How can I keep the interface/pasteboard for InDesign CC from resetting?
At work we just got Creative Cloud, and I don't like how the pasteboard in ID is automatically dark grey. I figured out where to uncheck "Match Pasteboard to Theme Color" which makes it go back to white, but when I shut down and restart ID, it goes right back to having that checked so it is grey again. Is there anyway to make my selection permanent? I dont understand why it checks itself back to that every time. It would be nice to not have to reset this every day.

I like the feature of the PDF being opened on the new tab on firefox browser's windows. But the newer version (3.6 or 4.0) will automatically open PDF in a pop up adobe apps. How do I keep the PDF open on the new tab as before like the 3.5 ver.? I want the PDF opened in the new tab rather than in the Adobe's app's pop up window. Could you help?
