The padlock only shows that there is a secure connection and doesn't guarantee that you are connected to the right server. So you might still be connected to the wrong server if you make a typo in the URL and someone has claimed that mistyped URL. The functionality of the padlock has been replaced by the Site Identity Button on the left end of the location (address) bar.

Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
Release the Buttons...

Installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Client Combo) will reinstall the App Store for you.
Restart your Mac after the combo is installed then try purchasing Aperture.

I purchased all out of Denmark. My HD crashed and I reload it all. While doing this I had to install new iTunes, - this is the newest version 10.xx. The old version was probbaly 9.xx (cant remember). So the library files are from an old version, - but it does not look like creating a problem. I am now in Sweden, so iTunes was installed in Sweden, and I try to re-download my missing songs while being here in Sweden. However, - I belive I am connected to iTunes store in Denmark. ... (it takes 2 smileys for this, - if you get as far as to here and still have an overview.)

Pretty much the same way you'd know with any other device. Are you using cellular data? It's pretty secure. Are you using WiFi? If so, is it public, unsecured wifi? Or private WiFi with a password? If you're doing any type of sensitive transactions, are you checking to make sure that the website is secure by checking to see that the address begins with https not just http? Are you making sure you're typing in address for banks and financial institutions rather than clicking on links in email?

- Still a cumbersome process for this of us that PAID for software and support, the whole point of this discussion is to implement this directly on LR, so we, the PAYING users don't have to waste time doing a useless process that could be EASILY AVOIDED ig Adobe released updates as they are needed, or if they OPENED THE SOURCE CODE so the community could do it.
Adobe created DNG, which is a well-documented backwards-compatible format, which is free for any manufacturer to use.

How come there is no "safety lock" icon picture in the tool bar when your accessing personal banking info. On other browsers, it shows that the Internet line is secure (the Lock icon) is in the address line. There's nothing on using Firefox.

Padlock is no longer part of Firefox; it was removed beginning in Firefox 4. The padlock shows that there is a secure connection but does not supply additional information. You could have made a typographical error and still have been connected to a secure connection. The padlock was replaced in Firefox 3 with the Site Identity Button. Familiarize yourself with the Site Identity Button at the left end of the Location Bar:

I attached an external drive to my macbook pro for backup purposes. I found that the device is 'read only' for me. I read that I could change permissions by selecting 'get info' for a item and clicking the lock icon to submit my password. The lock icon is not displayed on any 'info' window for any file on my macbook, much less the attached drive. I am the only user and administrator as far as I know. Oh, don't worry. I know exactly. I'm a retired law enforcement officer after 30 years. I didn't mean for them to allow you to use the Internet, I meant for them to assign an officer to try and track the device for the victim. Again, that would require the victim to provide their Apple ID and password, which most would not want to provide.
Pinging the phone as you mention is only when there is probable cause and that is done through the carrier.
I'm glad to see someone also understand that a stolen cell phone is not as important to law enforcement as it is to the victim. It is unfortunate as smartphones get more expensive. Hopefully as iOS 7 makes it debut later this year, the work Apple has done will have some impact on smartphone theft. Other manufactures and carriers are starting to improve here in the states. It never was something carriers worryed about with blacklisting. This is where they were a step ahead in Europe.

THank you Ogelthorpe. When my wife's computer I went on line to the site that you sent and tried everything But nothing worked. When my son came to visit and his MacBook Pro did exactly the same thing we became suspicious - too much of a coincidence. We took both computers somewhere else, out of our apartment, and they both booted. We ran disk utility on both, but the report in both cases was that there are no issues with the hard drive. Back in our apartment neither will boot up. My MacBook Pro is a later model with a solid state drive and it seems to work fine here.. I tried an external drive and it works fine. We think that this has something to do with some kind of magnetic interference in our apartment to which the 2009 drives are susceptible. It is indeed a mystery!
