I have been researching this for some time now with no solution.
If the answer is that "IT CAN'T BE DONE", then that's fine. At least
I will have an answer and can stop searching. If (as I suspect) it can
be done, then kindly supply me with "step by step" instructions.

I guess that was a bug in that version .
It does not happen in Acrobat XI and Acrobat DC .The window comes right in front of everything else .
I wonder that was a bug and that was fixed the other versions.
You could upgrade to the latest Acrobat version ,i.e Acrobat DC and you would not experience this anymore .

From what I read you can't. If you used Boot Camp to partition the Macintosh hard drive so you could install Win 7 on a boot camp partition you are locked into that one partition.
If you try to RE-partition that BC partition Win 7 won't boot, and IIRC there is a possibility of OS X not booting (Not sure about that). I just went through this myself.
That's one of the big reason I have gone back to Win PCs as my main systems.
Mac's are OK but to restrictive in what you can do with the hardware, and the OS IMHO.

I believe if you go into the control panel, and click on boot camp settings, there is a setting in there somewhere that changes the function of the f keys.

Firefox used to follow the Windows 7 theme in the address toolbar; if the windows are coloured green then the address toolbar is coloured green. Now the Address toolbar is a gross grey-blue colour. Previously, only the tabs and the bookmarks toolbar had their own yucky grey-blue colour, but it's spread upward!

I would really love any solutions that did not require me to install a new theme, as whenever I have done that in the past it has always impaired performance (slows down the loading of the browser).

You can use a custom style rule to change the color. Custom style rules can be applied to the user interface either using the Stylish extension or by creating a file named userChrome.css in your profile (settings) folder.
To create the rule, though, I think someone might need to see the particular shade of green. I don't know whether it is possible to detect that automatically.
Alternately, you could make the background of the address bar transparent so the color behind it shows through. There's an example of that kind of rule in this thread: [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1000123]. If that looks too naked, one might try a translucent background (e.g., white, but only 10% opaque so most of the background color shows through).

How can I make app use all available space in window?

Hi,
I'm trying to embed my flash app in a browser window and have
it use all available space. I've found plenty of tutorials online
that tell me how to make it take up the whole window, and they
work, but that isn't what I want. I have other content on the page
(a bar of links across the top). I thus want the flash app to take
up the full width and almost all the hight, leaving enough vertical
space for the link bar at the top. Right now, I have it set to 100%
for both height and width in the object tag, and it displays the
link bar, but the bottom of the flash gets chopped off (an amount
exactly equal to the height of the link bar). It seems that setting
height=100% means 100% of the full window height, not the unused
height. Is there any way to make it do what I want?

I believe the 100% will be relative to the parent container
of the Object/Embed tag.
If the Flex app is in say, a DIV that is correctly sized,
then 100% will fill the DIV. So I think you will need to get your
div sizing dynamically. A CSS expression maybe?

Searches. How can I make it confine itself to the active window only?

I'll have a window open, then I open a second window, for an unrelated Google search, then I clicked one of the links from the search and go to a site. Frequently I'll open a third window for yet another search then click on a link to a site. In any case whatever I looked up last is appears in all my open windows, not just the one I was working in. It happens most frequently when I'm looking up images, but it does also happen on regular searches. Unfortunately, it's intermittent. Even when I close all windows then repeat the steps right after it's happened, it doesn't happen a second time. There doesn't seem to be any one site that causes it.

I have a practical suggestion plus some general musings and brainstorming that might help you work towards a real solution.
The practical suggestion: use three different brands of browser instead of three instances of firefox. For example opera and chrome.
Now the musings. First off, I don't understand what you said, "I have the problem before I select a result." But anyway, here are some thoughts.
1. You could try unchecking "Open each selected result in a new browser window," and then use control-click instead of click when you're selecting which google results you want to look at. I think that allows you to retain the google list in the first tab.
2. Uninstall firefox again, but this time, make sure you manually remove all folders and files that firefox uses, before you reinstall.
2a. Try an older version of firefox.
3. In the config editor, there is a field that tells firefox how to search. You might want to take a close look at this value and compare it with the value in a firefox installation on another machine (that hopefully doesn't display the symptom), or with the analogous value in opera.
4. Try working in safe mode (all add-ons disabled) to see if the symptom goes away.
5. Try installing one of the add-ons that describe themselves as google enhancers.
6. Post your problem on the google support pages or on the support page of a well-supported google-enhancing firefox add-on.
7. Try a different search engine.

How can i make multiple oracle homes co-exsist on windows

I have a windows box on which I have just installed oracle 9i and 10g.
Whenever I connect through the sqlplus , it defaults to the first one installed which is oracle10g every attempt to connect to the second database which is 9i keeps coming with “ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified”
I know on unix I can easily set my environment, I will like to know how to get my environment set on windows for me to connect easily to the two databases.

Yes, they must be in different homes. The 'definition' of an ORACLE_HOME is the software for one product at one version/patch-level.
The easiest way to do what you want - search for all the TNSNAMES.ORA files and make them the same. They will be in each ORACLE_HOME/network/admin directory.
If you intend to have multiple homes for a while, the smartest way (IMO) to do what you want is to study the custom installation capabilities of the 10g installer and install just a listener in a new ORACLE_HOME. Then add a TNS_ADMIN variable to point to the central LISTENER and TNSNAMES.ORA and keep just that one TNSNAMES.ORA file up to date.
Takes a lot more effort up front but is easiest administrative effort in the long run. There is a lot of information in the Oracle Network User's Guide and Reference at http://www.oracle.com/pls/db102/homepage

Most people know how to use their browsers BACK button to return to a site. Or better yet, right click on links to open them inside new tabs or windows. This should almost always be a user's decision and not a web designer's decision.
If you have all links open in new windows/tabs, In no time at all, user's browser will be stuffed with them which is ugly and can diminish browser performance.
If you need to open a new window on SELECT links, use the Behaviors Panel, press the Plus sign (+) and select Open Browser Window. Repeat this for all links you want opened in new windows.

Sun tries very hard to make each version of Java backward compatible with previous versions, especially the previous major release. If it works in 1.5.* it's highly likely to work in 1.6.*... so yeah, suck it and see...
