How do i make a scrolling text box?

hi, i'm looking to make a text box that the user can control the scrolling, i've made it how i want it to look already, but i haven't got a clue where to start as to how to make it actually work.
here's how i've got it set up so far, okay this is gonna take some explaining:
i've got the document made up in AS2, the movieclip known as 'Philosophy_tween' is on the main timeline, and inside that movieclip are two more child movieclips, one for the text and another for the scrollbar.
the text movieclip is set to scroll upwards, behind a masking layer using a motion tween on the parent movieclip, whereas the scrollbar movieclip motion tweens (inside itself) the scroller button. look at the attached image.
both motion tweens have a stop(); script at the beggining.
i don't know what to do after this though, so please help, thanks in advance!

i've got the nextFrame and prevFrame scripts working now, i'd only missed the brackets from those functions. i've also gotten the slider to respond to the button clicks of the up and down arrow by setting up a motion tween for the slider, so it actually works, just along with nextFrame and prevFrame functions. i've also put the slider button at the same level as the text movieclip
but what i do still need is to be able to control the slider button directly, so the user can drag it up and down and the text responds accordingly, like you said using the enterFrame function, but i don't really understand event listeners and that sort of thing, yet.

  • How do you make an expanadble text box in a pdf form?

How do you make a text box expand automatically in a pdf form?

    Hi;
Is this a question related to FormsCentral or to PDF forms in general?  If it is for PDF forms you should ask in the Acrobat forms forums: http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat/forms
If it is related to FormsCentral the text boxes do not expand automatically in a PDF, except for when saving a Response as a PDF form, when the responses from the View Responses tab are saved as a PDF form all Multi-line text fields are expanded to fit the text the user had entered.

  • How do I make good scrolling text for end credit

    Hi,
I'm trying to make end credit as in other feature films. I tried to use Boris title 3D, but the space is not even, how can you make it even between character's name and their real name side by side?
Do I have to set the margin?, if so what is the correct measurement for it.
    Thank you for your help

    No worries,
Open Boris 3D. Here's a step by step:
Right (option) click the button with and A on it at the bottom right of the Viewer.
From the shortcut list select Boris>Title 3D.
Go to the Viewer and select the Controls Tab.
Click the grey box that says *Tile 3D*.
The Boris text window should open and you're ready to lock and load the titles.
The default Justification is Centered. You can tell by looking at two things.
    1. Six justification buttons about centre left of the window.
    2. The small icon (foot) at the top left corner of the Boris Window.
Click the justification buttons and watch the little foot icon change. Got it?
With the Foot icon justified to the LEFT, drag the icon along the Ruler to the place where you want to start the left side of the text.
Change the icon to Right justified and repeat the last step.
You should see two icons with the feet facing away from each other.
Hit the Tab key (on the keyboard), the cursor will move to the first Tab (set in the Ruler), type away in left justified mode.
Hit the Tab key again (on the keyboard) to move to the other icon (set in the Ruler) and type in Right justified mode.
Repeat for as many lines as is required.

  • How do i make a justifiable text box in Photoshop CS5

    Hi
I tried to justify text but find it hard, any quick and simple ways to do it?
    Thanks

We need less people like Tai Lao on these forums and more thoughtful, well thought out and thorough answers like the one 24/7 Tech Support gave.
I fail to understand what you're motivation and goal is Tai Lao?
This is precisely a board for people that are trying to learn whether they're beginners or not, or have high IQs or low IQs?
I've been using Photoshop since 1996 and I recently got CS5 and I was searching for this exact topic, because I just wanted something comprehensive on the subject, so I don't understand why you or anyone else feels the need to get in the way of that?
I mean, seriously, is this all for your ego? You like feeling superior to people, people you don't even know for that matter? Take your issues somewhere else. The immaturity is so obnoxious, especially when people that use these boards have work to do.
We out here have work to do, and we need thorough answers. Sometimes, some of us, while we're in the middle or towards the end of the work day aren't even at our best or freshest and we need clear and comprehensive answers during those moments when we're not necessarily operating at our best.
Whatever the case is, the truth is when you post answers, you should assume that the people are beginners or have "low IQs" or whatever garbage Tai Lao wrote.
24/7 Tech Support, I hope you continue to go about with your method of presenting detailed thorough answers to the people's queries here on the Adobe boards, I'm sure I'll come across one of your USEFUL posts sometime soon in the near future, and hopefully less across the USELESS posts of those like Tai Lao.

  • Scrolling Text box - won't work in IE

Hey everyone. I'll admit right off the bat that I'm very new
to web design, so I'm sure I've been making some mistakes. I'm much
more of a designer than a coder, but I'm doing the best I can.
I'm wanting to have a scrolling text box embedded on some of
my pages, and have figured out how to do it, thanks largely to
these forums. I've made a CSS tag that has gotten it working
    correctly - sort of.
You can see the page in question at
    http://www.kylehamrick.com/testing.html
It appears to be working correctly in Firefox. However, in
IE, the text just keeps flowing down onto the page, outside of the
allotted area. What am I doing wrong?
Also, is there a way to make this look correct in
Dreamweaver? Once I add text that exceeds the table height, it
breaks up my page, though it still looks fine in the browser. Is
there something I can do to correct this?
Thanks in advance for any assistance with this. I sincerely
    appreciate it.
Any other advice in regards to the page is welcome! Please
keep in mind that I'm very new to this, and it's still under
construction, so don't be TOO harsh... =)
Also, is this all I have to do? It seems that you all have a
way to examine my code and such just by having me post the url, is
that right? Is there anything else you need from me?

Anyone? Sorry, had to give this a bump. Seems it got buried
    VERY quickly.
Again, I'd appreciate any guidance you can provide!

Set an instance name for the dynamic textfield. Then, to
populate the textfield with the value of a variable, use:
    textFieldInstanceName.text = variableName

  • Scrolling Text Box question

I'm changing a site for a friend. She wants to add a scrolling text box with a bio of herself on the grid we're already using on her page. The problems I'm having are it's difficult to resize the box once on the grid (you can't) and I keep missing anything that looks like the ability to scroll up and down on the text box. I'm sure I'm missing something which is why I'm here. :-)
    Thanks in advance! :-)

check out the overflow:scroll command in the css - I'm not sure how this works with grids, however - but it could be a starting point....
    hope this helps

  • How do I create dynamic scrolling text in Flash CS5?

    Hi everyone,
I am a complete newbie to Flash. I'm tyring to build a scrolling text box that automatically scrolls. On mouse over, I want the scrolling to stop so users can click on an item in the text box. All of the items will be tied to external hyperlinks. I want to populate the text box with an external file. I've done some searches on Adobe, but haven't found anything that takes me through the whole process.
I have the complete Adobe Master Collection. So if this is easier in Flash Catalyst, let me know. I know how to buid a manual scroll box in Flash Catalyst. Could I export this to and add the auto-scrolling?
    Remember, I'm a complete newbie.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Thanks again Kglad,
I really have no preference of Action Script since I don't have any significant experience with either one.
I'll keep doing searches to see if I can get the information I need.
    Have a great holiday.

  • How to include unicode chars in text boxes?

    Hi,
We need the unicode chars (for example: Chinese, Korean, etc...) to appear in the generated .pdf and .pcl files from the Adobe Output designer's IFD file.
These chars are static and will not change, so we shall not be fetching them from FNF file (.dat).
While trying to copy-paste directly into text box field, we are getting an error prompting for converting them to some other character set.
We couldn't paste them exactly with the text how they should appear in the text boxes.
Please tell us if there is a way to achieve this.
    Thanks and regards,

Double check that all of the selected presentation targets and the font being used for the particular text box supports the characters you are trying to paste into it. For example, the PDF target only has 11 fonts available unless you use the other tabs to "create new soft font cartidges". If you have the appropriate fonts installed on you PC you should be able to use this capability to make the font available for each of your presentation targets. (At least that is my impression - I've never needed to try it.)

  • Has anyone been able to get a mouse scroll wheel to work with a scrolling text box in authorware?

Has anyone been able to get a scroll wheel to work with a
scrolling text box in authorware? Is there any way to attach the
hardware of a scroll wheel to a scrolling text in a piece? Sure
would make things easier for the reader.

I doubt it. Maybe using the WinCtrls.u32? But after a few
    tries years

how do you create aligned interactive text boxs in a PDF with the same width and height?
Without free hand creating the sizing?

Assuming by "interactive text boxes" you mean form fields; in Acrobat, make a form field, then copy it and paste. (GIve the pasted copy a different name so they don't genetate the same field feedback.) Now you have two fields of the exact same size. Shift-click or marquee-drag to select both, then right-click and choose a command from the Align, Distribute or Center menu.
