How do I mark a "not measurable" event on a chart history?

I have an application which is working very well and takes measurements - continuously plotting a result on a chart. The chart history is typically a 100 or so measurements. I plot on the chart both an upper and lower tolerance limit, hence the measurment plot should hopefully stay between the two (straight lines) limits.
Occasionally a sample is "missing" and when this happens a "measurement" of zero is given. This is currently displayed on the chart as a sudden drop to zero. The users like this as it shows them clearly that the sample was missing. All OK so far, however...
On rare occasions a sample is present and is measured but for reasons I will not go into we know (and the software can determine) that the measurement result is actually invalid. This situation I call "not measurable" in that although a sample is present it actually cannot be properly measured. The question is this; how do I show this on my chart history?The chart history plot is by far the most looked at display of data for the users. I realise that I could show a message box saying "not measurable" (and intend to do so) but this would only last for that measurement cycle. How do I "mark" the chart to show that there was a sample but that it was not measurable.
I don't particularly want to use a zero value because that is being used quite nicely for the "no sample" situation. Also I don't want to simply not plot anything because the fact that the sample was "not measurable" is potentially very important indeed. Ideally what I would like is to put a marker, say a thick vertical line at the position where the invalid measurment is, in order to both block it out to show that it is wrong and also show there actually was a sample there in the first place.
Any ideas as to how I can do this? Sorry this is a bit wordy!

I have come up with a quick fix for using a chart which might give you a few ideas. This is just a quick fix and isn’t very nice at all. The green dots are meant to represent the immeasurable data, I have just triggered them by a set of limits. You would be better of using an XY plot and an array which you constantly up date. Using an XY graph will give you a lot more options such as using cursors to mark certain points.

How do I mark up multiple day events like school holidays?

I would like to mark up school holidays to help with planning family holidays.
Other than marking each day individually how can it be done?
I actually would need 2 school calendars as my boys go to 2 different schools and the holidays are different.
I imagine a user would need to mark up multiple day events like conventions or business trips similarly.
If it were my physical diary I would color the whole day background both on the day and on the year/month layout to block them out and make them clearly distinguishable in whatever view.
I have subscribed to the Australian Holidays calendar but it is incomplete. Major holidays such as the Easter break, Labor Day, Bank Holidays and Queen's Birthday etc are not included. In fact, except for Christmas, Australia Day and Anzac Day it did not have much at all.
If Apple needs an accurate set of Australian & NZ holiday calenders broken down into States & NZ regions, I am happy to assist. The information is available in the front of every diary sold here.

If you have other all-day events, there will be a separate pane for them at the top of the calendar in week view. Control-click in this area on the first day, choose New Event, then drag the right edge of the new event over as many days as you need.

I backed my iPod up to iTunes and then I restored my iPod touch 5...after it was finished I tried putting my data all back on but a lot of the data wasn't there. The only thing there was my contacts. I also backed everything up to iCloud too before I restored my iPod. How can I get my notes, calendar events, and my memos back? Please help me I really need the notes I had

Restore from backup. That is all you can do. Make sure y look at the date of the backup to see if the media would be in the backup. Maybe you overwrote the backup that contained the data when/if you backed up after the info was deleted form the iPod.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Yes, you can do something like that. What you would do is create a button for each image and then hide them. When I do this type of thing I place all of the buttons on a template page and then hide the template.
You can then use JavaScript to copy the icon from any of the hidden buttons to the main button that you've set up to display the image. For example, suppose you set up 10 buttons named b1, b2, b3, ...b10. The code to copy the icon from one of them to the button used to display the image (b0) would be something like this:

Events are more along the lines of a...well...event "Appointment with Dr. Smith"..."Travel to Mexico"..."Jon's Birthday".
What you are describing is what I would call a task. iCal offers "To Dos" for that purpose which include a check box for completion.

I updated today to the 5.0.1 and now when I try to sync to ITunes, it doesn't recognize my phone and an error message comes up saying that "This iPhone cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started.' TThose aren't bins. Those are just groupings based on when the content was created or any other selected parameter. Use the action popup in the toolbar tho change the setting.

I don't know what CurlyMolly's problem is. But I have a problem with an email that keeps ending up in my Junk folder...

That last part which states to "Mark them as not junk." Well, where is that? Because what is in the top part of my Mail app when I have that message selected while in the Junk folder is "Mark this as Junk". Fact is, I have a rule set up for messages from the senders email address to be moved to a specific folder. I actually have dozens of rules with emails being moved/copied here and there. This one email is my only problem child.

I'm a new Mac user. Finally figured out how to put events in iCal, add notes, etc. Now I need to print my completed calendar but I need the notes to print out as well. I cannot figure this out. Can someone help me?

It is the calendar on my iPad I was referring to and I was looking for a setting on the iPad. I have now found the problem. it was in my settings on my iMac for synchronizing the iPad. I had the box checked that said do not synchronize events older than 30 days. I have now unchecked the box and now have a historical record on my iPad of all events. You might not want to do anything here, the tv will only load what it can, with a preference for certain types of criteria. If your settings are to sync the unwatched video then once you have watched something from the tv, it will get removed and replaced by something else you haven't watched.

how do i organize photos by a person, not an event? I have thousands of random photos that are not tied to events and I do not want thousands of events in my library.

Events are a simple time based organization for people you do not bother with organizing - it is jsut a name - no reason to get hung up on the term "event"
Photos view is a bit more flexible
Faces is organized by people
Places is organized by location
For most people leaving events alone and using albums and folders (folders hold albums or other folders) and smart albums is th ebest way to organize
But that said each person must make their own decisions on organization - iPhoto provides many, many tools - you need to decide how to use them

my keyboard was putting out doubled note events durring a session.
But the note events are between 1 and 3 cliks apart.
in other words 1 might be at 1 3 151 and the other duplicate at 1 3 153
So remove duplicate events does not work.
I dont want to have to quatize all events either.

The only other option I can think of that may help you is the select highest/lowest notes.
This will select the top or bottom notes for any notes that are overlapping.
the key command is :
**** up ( highest ) or shift down ( lowest )
It may work on some blocks of notes, but it's a bit hit and miss.
Other than that it's a manual editing job I'm afraid
