How do I move Outlook email from Windows to iMac

I have decided to move from Windows (Vista) to iMac (Mavericks) and need to move all my email from my Windows PC (Outlook 2010) to iMail.
I've found several suggestions on the internet including various software applications for converting from one to the other although most seem to indicate problems with lost emails. Is there a recommended method from Apple which works?
Any help appreciated.

Open the Apple Mail application. There should be guidance for adding your AOL mail to the application. I have AOL mail and have it seamlessly integrated into Apple Mail. Since AOL uses IMAP, your mail resides on the AOL server.

I have left a lot of emails in my Inbox that should have been moved to specific folders. How do I move them in bulk to their specific folders other than moving each one individually. I have highlighted the messages concerned by searching and then selecting all. I then click on move to....
Nothing seems to be happening....I'm sure there's probably a step I'm missing here. What would it be??
A similar problem occurs when I want to do a mass delete of emails from a specific sender....

I did all that and nothing happened. As it happens, I did manage to deal with the problem, but in a rather convoluted and tedious manner. I went into Edit, Find, and Search messages, typed in the criteria and the messages I wanted moved came up. However, there was no option to "Select All" so I had to highlight each one and then move the lot to the specific folder....that also worked for the delete problem. That is a workable solution to my problem, but the lack of a "select all" option made it very time consuming. However, I guess it's a notice to me to remember to sort my emails more often.

How do I move my library from Windows Vista hard drive that is now in an external box to a Windows 8 PC?

My old PC operating with Windows Vista failed to reboot, ironically but only coincidentally right after I installed the latest Itunes update a few weeks ago. It would not get past the DOS screen but getting that far I was at least able to conduct a diagnostics. The result was Hard Drive failure "BIOS-HD." I have a new PC with Windows 8 and have installed Itunes there as well. I removed the Hard Drive from the old computer and placed it in an external drive box. Fortunately, I can access everything on that drive including Itunes. How do I move my Itunes Library from my old hard drive in the external box and connected to my new PC, to the hard drive in the new PC? I see all sorts of instructions on line but none for the specific circumstance of the old hard drive in an external box and moving to a new PC with newer operating system (Windows 8). Thanks

Aside from checking here, I also Googled for an answer. Then I faced the problem on the Internet where stuff stays there forever and so I see solutions for previous and maybe obsolete versions of Itunes. I have no way of knowing if the seemingly sound advice was solved in later versions of Itunes. In one case there is a great YouTube video with a guy from Circuit City (now out of business). I found an extensive explanation that made my head explode with all the detail but I did understand enough to see that the solution they precribed has you go onto your new computer and make sure you rename your new hard drive to match the name of the hard drive from your old computer. That way Itunes on the new computer will be able to find it okay. These instructions also tell you to downlaod Itunes software on the new computer first and then move two different folders (I think one has the extension of .itl); one folder with the library and the other has the metadata--to the new computer. Then to confuse things I have seen instructions that also say to just move the files and they don't address the issue with the file names like turringtest said. Most discouraging is that all of the instructions I have talked about, explain what to do without ever addressing my specific situation where the old hard rive used to reside in an old computer and has an Vistas Operating System that apparently failed and caused me to get a new computer in the first place (I guess I could have loaded a new operating system but not sure if that would have wiped out my extensive files...also irrelevant to the discussion }:) Sorry). Do either of the following:
Drag a file or folder from the desktop to the iTunes window.If you add a folder, all the files it contains are added to your library.
In iTunes, choose File > Add to Library, locate a file or folder, and click Open.
By default, adding items to your iTunes library places a pointer to each file in the iTunes folder; the original file remains in the current location. For information about copying files to the iTunes folder instead of creating pointers to them, see Change where your iTunes files are stored. If the file is an unprotected WMA file and you have Windows Media Player Series 9 or later installed, iTunes makes a copy of the file and adds it to your iTunes library. The original WMA file remains unchanged. You can’t add protected WMA files or protected WMV files to iTunes.

How do I get Outlook Email from Exchange Server configured on iPhone?

My business email is hosted on MS Exchange Server via Outlook and is distributed to my networked PC and VPN home PC and laptop. My IT manager has enabled IMAP on the Exchange Server. I am unable to get my email account on the iPhone to receive or send mail through my Server. My domain names have been entered in the format "exchange.[domainname].com, and my user ID and password has been input for both incoming and outgoing email. The iPhone cannot seem to talk to the server and retrieve or send mail. Does anyone know what to do on the iPhone to be able to communicate with the server? (I am aware of the various limitations of the iPhone vs. Windows Smart Phones in terms of being able to use Microsoft Push Email and to be able to synch calendars, contacts etc. with a corporate server and/or multiple computers. Thanks for your response. I've used the path that I had successfully used for years with my Windows Smartphone to no success. Neither advanced Apple telephone support nor my IT guy could get this to work. I have implemented a workaround to have my server automatically forward my emails to a new Yahoo account which then pushes to my iPhone. Definitely an unsatisfactory and incomplete solution, however.
Editorial comments for Apple: Windows ActiveSync was so much more sophisticated in terms of being able to deal with server-based email, contacts, calendar and for users with multiple computers - i.e. office, home and laptop. I would have expected Apple to introduce something at least as functional and sophisticated or to licence ActiveSync. My user capabilities are substantially downgraded in these areas with my new iPhone and absent a quick software upgrade or licence of ActiveSync I will be unable to function productively with my iPhone. While we're at it, Apple, with my multiple email accounts set up on the iPhone, which is a great feature, I have no easy way to tell in which account to find a new email. I am forced to update the inbox in every single account to try to find where my new mail is going - some new mail indicator next to the account name (as opposed to showing how many unread emails exist with each account) needs to be implemented. The phone hardware, other than the batter - which doesn't even last me for the full course of a workday - is great, but software has only gotten to about 75% of where it needs to be.

You're welcome.
Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is really designed to be accessed with a single email client only.
I access a MobileMe account and a business POP account with the iPhone's mail client. Since an IMAP account is designed to be accessed with more than one email client keeping all server stored mailboxes synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account, accessing an IMAP account with the iPhone's mail client is much more preferable to me. All sent messages are available with each email email client used to access the account. Read a received message with the iPhone's mail client and the message will be marked as read automatically when checking the account with the email client on my computer and vice-versa. I create additional server stored mailboxes to store received and sent messages by category and I can transfer messages from the account's Inbox or Sent mailbox to the designated server stored mailbox with the iPhone's mail client, with all server stored mailboxes kept synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account.
If messages were removed from the server with the email client used on your computer to access the account - transferred to a mailbox stored locally on your hard drive, you can transfer the messages back to the designated server stored mailbox.
Need to delete and recreate the account with your iPhone's mail client, or need to restore your iPhone with iTunes, all messages that don't remain on the server will be lost with a POP account including all messages sent with the account from the iPhone - which can be stored locally on the iPhone only unless you always Bcc yourself with every sent message.
Delete and recreate an IMAP account with the iPhone's mail client and all server stored mailboxes and the messages within will be available again automatically.
IMAP account access is the way to go with the iPhone IMO.
