How do I organize my otr shows in itunes?

Old Time Radio shows are becoming increasingly popular.  However, there dosen't seem to be a category set asside in itunes for organizing them.  I have been using the music categories.  Is there a way to add OTR files as a set of files the way TV shows are hightlighted in iTunes?

Perhaps no one has a solution to your question. Unfortunately, it's not unknown for work-round suggestions (with questions such as these) to be shot down in flames, so perhaps that's why there as been a reluctance to offer any work rounds.
However, perhaps a suggestion or two might give you some ideas on how to deal with these programmes.
I assume that you are downloading the programmes as MP3 files (not Podcasts), which then find their way into your music Library, along with your "music". If they are Podcasts, that should separate them from your music automatically and they will be set (by iTunes) to Skip when shuflfing, so they don't get played while shuflfing music.
But back to MP3s.
You may be able to combine some of the suggestions below to achieve what you need:
leave them in the Music Library, but set them to Skip when shuffling to stop them playing while listening to your music in shuffle mode
assign a Genre unique to the OTR shows so that you can find them more easily
create a Smart Playlist which automatically adds OTR shows to itself (by finding a unique field that you set or the shows already have). So if you give the OTR a genre of (for example) OTR, the Smart Playlist is set to include all "genre=OTR"
create Smart Playlists which exclude the OTR shows, so that your music is in the Playlist, but the OTR ones are not
change the Media Kind to Audiobooks, so that the OTR all become "audiobooks, with their own section (under Books) in the iTunes Library. You may need to set them to Skip when shuffling too. Some iPod models (perhaps all) have a separate Audiobooks section, which will keep them separate on an iPod as well.
set the Media Kind to Podcast, although frankly, I would advise against this particular option as they may become even more of a mess unless re-titled and renamed
Any use?

  • How do *you* handle Old Time Radio (OTR) shows in iTunes?

I collect OTR shows, free from Internet Archive.
    1. If you do as well
    2. How do you put them into iTunes? As music or possibly audiobooks?
    3. How do you signify it is OTR.
Currently I have them as Music, with "OTR" in the Genre list. But that really is not a genre and was hoping to get sone better ideas.

It's up to you, though you cannot edit the catagories list and won't be able to have OTR up next to music, audiobooks, and movies.  The few plays I have I separate into genres.  They aren't an audiobooks to me since they are plays, usually not a reading of the original book itself.

  • How do i organize my TV Shows properly in chronological order?

I ripped Band of Brothers onto my laptop and put it into itunes. itunes organizes it by alphabetical order. How do i properly organize it in the episode order ex" epsiode 1 ,2 ,3. And how will i make it show up on the iphone properly?

Hmm that's odd. I don't even use the track number field. I go to the video tab, change it to TV Show, I make sure I have the same name typed into the first box 'Enterprise Season 1' (or whatever it is), the season number (unfortunately you cannot put in leading zero's for season number so when you sort by season it goes season 1, season 10), then the next two fields I put in the episode number.
I work in iTunes for windows and it may be different there than for mac. Unfortunately I am early in the switcher phase and still run totally on a windows platform so I don't even know for sure that the Apple version of iTunes has the same fields in the same order.

  • How does iPhoto organize originals under "show package contents"?

They used to be organized based on the name of my folder in iPhoto (year -> month -> folder name from iPhoto), but now there are many folders organized by year -> month -> day -> and then tons of folders titled by a series of numbers that make absolutely no sense to me. Is there a way to get the folders organized the way they used to be? Also, when I look into those folders, most of them are empty, some have one photo, and others have hundreds of photos. I just don't understand the way they are being organized. Thanks!

An empty folder has zero bytes so they don't take up any space at all like this one in my library.
There's nothing to worry about as far as they are concerned.

  • How do I delete onl TV shows from iTunes?

I have an old TV Show in my iTunes library which I want to permanently delete.  I try to right click, but no options appear when I do that.  I have tried to manually manage music and video, but no help.  How do I permanently delete?

I agree...that's not the answer (even though that's what iTunes Help says to do). It does nothing. I'm trying to get rid of multiple tv shows that I bought seasons ago and my iPad keeps sync'ing them. I need the storage space for other movies.

  • How do I organize music files w/in iTunes?

Before I got an iPod & iTunes, I had all of the music files on my computer (using M/S Vista) organized alphabetically within each folder and all folders also arranged alphabetically - I'm anal that way. When I copied all the files from My Music into iTunes & iPod, they came out almost completely random - e.g., White Christmas is sandwiched in between a Vivaldi Mandolin Concerto and an ABBA song. Can anyone tell me how I can re-organize iTunes & iPod into the logical order they should be in?
    Thank you in advance.

Sorry - I neglected to reply to your second question. If I clk on a column and clk to sort by that filter, it does so. The trouble is that there are no columns or column choices that will provide an appropriate filter across the spectrum - not all files are in the same format. For example, I have a lot of classical music, which will sort by composer - but that eliminates from sorting files not indicating a composer, as such. But at least that has helped me get the files into a little better order than it was. Thanks.

  • How do i view purchased TV shows in Itunes on my IPad?

I've downloaded several seasons but when I select an episode to watch in my "purchased" tab it only gives me the option to preview the episode?  I've confirmed that the full episodes have been downloaded.  Now what?

iTunes on the iPad is a link to the store only.
It is used to buy media.
To listen to music or audio(podcasts, audiobooks) go to the music app.
For movies, tv shows or music videos you use the videos app.

  • How to access iCloud movies/tv shows in iTunes 11.1

The iCloud icon recently disappeared and is not showing up next to my apple ID at all so I can't access the movies/tv shows previously purchased by Apple TV or iPhone 4S to stream it to my computer. The only way is to download it and I don't want to do that. Is there any way to reestablish the connection?

Open iTunes Prefs > Store and select the option for "show iTunes in the Cloud purchases."
For some reason this option seems to get unselected.

  • How do I transfer a tv show from iTunes to my iPad.

Can someone help me get a tv episode from iTunes on my computer to my iPad.?.

    1. The movies must be synced to the iPad through iTunes, so you have to add the movies to iTunes first via File>Add to Library from the iTunes menu at the top of the screen.
    2. The movies must be in a format the the iPad can read. You can click on the movie in your iTunes library to select it and then go to File>Create new version> Create iPad or Apple TV - version if necessary.
These are the supported video formats on the iPad.
Video formats supported: H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High Profile level 4.1 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG‑4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format.
If the movie is in the correct format, you then sync them using iTunes.
Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Movies Tab on the right.
Click on all of the Movies that you want to sync.
Click on the Sync Movies Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes

  • How can I delete 2 tv shows in iTunes I watched on my pc?

Help menu said to choose "move to recycle bin" however, I can't find that option in my iTunes.  Help, please!

You need to connect your phone to your computer and de-select that album in your sync settings in iTunes.
    Best of luck.

  • How do I organize my itunes library so that album name only shows up once for multiple song?

When I view the songs in my itunes library, it appears that album names appear multiple times even though they are the same album. (that I may have added to my itunes library at different times).
For example: For U2 album War, there are multiple songs in my library which I downloaded or uploaded in my itunes album at different times. Now the album War under artist U2, appears multiple times. How do I organize and make songs that belong in the same album appear under the album once so when I choose the specific album, all the songs are available there so I can listen to it all or shuffle it within the album. I don't want single songs under the same album names. It is very irritating. Please help to organize my itunes library better, I have a large album and it would be much easier if the album names would appear once when I have multiple songs for that album. Thanks!

Each tune gets a file name - that is how iTunes works. iTunes is a data base manager.
In a PlayList a reference is created that will link to a specific tune.
You can take the tunes that you do not want listed under a particular album name and change the album name using 'Get Info' for that tune(s) from the iTunes window.

  • How do I organize my songs(files, playlists) in my zen nano p

I have read the FAQ about organizing in a USB mass storage player, but I still do not understand how to do it. I have a Zen nano plus with GB and I would like to put my songs into a certain order and/or in 'playlists'. In the FAQ it says to click on the folder where the tracks are that you want reordered, but I do not have a seperate folder where tracks are. Is there also a way to make folders to put songs into If so, how? Also, when a song is playing and I hold down the 'scroll' button a screen comes up that says root with a folder in the left hand corner and two arrows on either side at the bottom with no other words. What is this? Does it have anything to do with making different folders? Most of my songs that are in the Creative Mediasource Organizer are not under the PC music library but in Zen Nano Plus(on the left hand side of organizer) and only show when my zen nano plus is connected to the computer, is that supposed to happen? Will it help in making folders/reordering if all the songs are in the PC music library? How do I put them there(the songs that are in the library are also in the Zen Nano Plus area)? Please help.

Right click the header bar. Select "Date Added" to add it if it isn't already a sort category. Then click the heading to sort either in ascending or descending order.

  • How do YOU organize pages, create a site map, and use hyperlinks?

I had to get out of bed to bring this up with you all; I couldn't stop thinking about this next learning curve. It is: How shall I organize the topics I have in my website? One extreme is to have all of the topics showing in all of the nav bars at the top of all the pages. The opposite extreme is ............ I cannot truly visualize it.
I think that the big obstacle for me is that i don't want to hide any pages so well, so slickly, that they can be found only by the most focused and persistent website visitor. I can see how some pages could be lost to a lot of casual website viewers.
On the other hand, there are some pages that are natural groups. In my case, the U.B.R.O.L. group is that. It is made up of five people and me. I have one page for a photo slideshow which has one photo of each of us, but then I have a separate page for Nigel and his photos, a separate page for Vali and her long bio and photos, and a separate page for Helen, her short bio and her many photos.
Tonight I tried making hierarchies using hyperlinks, so that U.B.R.O.L. shows up in the Site Menu, but Nigel, Vali, Helen, and Peggy do not show up. To get to their photos, one would have to click onto the U.B.R.O.L. group page. Once at the U.B.R.O.L. page, one can then click onto Vali's, Nigel's, and Helen's page, and then from each of their pages there are 3 hyperlinks: one to return to U.B.R.O.L., and three more hyperlinks to click onto the others who have personal pages. (Peggy does not have a personal page because she is shy and never gave me more photos or a bio of herself. She prefers anonymity.)
But even though I put those hyperlinks on those pages, I am having an internal concept war, my friends, and a solution is not at hand.
I am thinking of how I am going to deal with the pages made for me, my husband, and my husband and I together.
I cannot imagine clearly how a Site Menu would look at the topmost level and much less of an idea how each page would look several levels down.
I welcome any direction you could send my way. I would like to know how you organized your pages, how you decided which pages would not be listed in the nav bar, and what you did to/with the pages that were not listed in the nav bar.
Would you please send me the URL of your website so that I can SEE what you are talking about? I am not good at imagining what people say; I have to see it rather than imagine it.
    Lorna in Southern California

Lorna, mostly from reading books, Iearned the following things.
•Don't make me think (actually the title of an excellent book on webdesign)
•Every information should be available in at most 3 clicks
•Tell them where they are, where they can go and where they have been.
IMHO, iWeb lends itself fairly well for these last 2 criteria. The Navbar is a very useful tool and I suggest you do not go too far away from it.
On my current issue of the toy theatre magazine (which is NOT a beautiful website) I wanted to go in 3 languages; English, German and Dutch. I knew i was courting disaster but one can be so ambitious. This in fact meant that I had to do 3 sites. Sites being defined as a group of pages structurally belonging to each other.
So I made an Index/Splash page with a nice picture, a title and 3 flags. These being links to the 3 versions. (I did not want to make them think on the Splashpage).
Clicking a flag brings the visitor to a Contents page on their version of the site. Just like the Contents page in a book. Here they can choose to go to any of the items and on each and every page of the site is a Contents button that returns them there.
Pages are numbered in the middle of the website, and to the leftside the number of (and link to) the previous page and to the right the same for the next page.
The current issue is number 25, ( http://www.vischmarktpapierentheater ), the previous 24 were done in Freeway and the design stems from there.
The translation to iWeb did work well but in the end the result was disappointing mostly because I wanted some slideshows, hated the "None .Mac accounts" version and went overboard with Keynote slideshows, really ugly.
The other problem stems from the triple language idea. This meant that I had to do either 3 versions of each slideshow, or make one version accessible for every language. This menat some convoluted linking which I will never do again.
In short If you want to go "deep", make various sites and link each starting page to you Index/Splash, keep the starting pages of each site on the Navbar Make a Contents sidebar or something like that on each of the starting pages, and than you can go anywhere within the required 3 clicks.
    Good Luck
    Harry

  • Elements 5 - Organizer will not show thumbnails

Recently moved Elements 5 to my new laptop - On the laptop the organizer will not show photos in any view other than single picture.  Anything smaller shows the hour glass [also shows on the collections icons].  I deleated the first catalog transfer and have been only using new photos transfered from my D-50.  It will run full screen shows just nothing smaller that a single picture view.  I also uninstalled and reinstalled the Elements software.
I have unchecked the filer checker.
Systems is a Vista home premium 64 bit, 4 gig of ram, Lenovo ideapad laptop 5800T processor.  Version 5.0.2
    Any ideas?
    Alan

I can't be sure this is the problem, but ...
Is this the first time you have opened PSE5 on this computer? If so, it truly is generating the thumbnails. Your statement about how in single image mode the thumbnail appears is a symptom of this phase of the operation. Just let it run. It will finish, and the problem will be gone.
