How do I parse map data?

The data i want to parse looks something like this:
sdf,dfffffs,safsf,asasrw,re6546eg,dfgert;
gfgr,trt546,rgert,egrg,erg,ergretgreg,erg;
basically its items seperate with a , and they are ended with a ;
i want to make a 2d array out of that.
my pseudocode:
new string array [amountoflines] [amountofitemsinfirstline]
for i=0 to amountoflines do (i++)
while j>0 do
  while k>0 do
   array[i][j] = array[i][j]+characterat(k);
   if( "," ) k=-1;
   if( ";" ) j = -1;
}would it work? what kind of methods do you suggest i use?

Did i get iit?
// inputstr = the map data
String inputstr= new String("Sad,asf,sdf,dst;ret,ert,yyt,ryt;ry,tr,yt,ry;");
// Creates an array and assigns it like this:
// Line 1 : Sad,asf,sdf,dst;  (does it also assign the ";" ?)
// Line 2 : ret,ert,yyt,ryt;
// Line 3 : ry,tr,yt,ry;
String[] tmpstr=inputstr.split(";");
// Defines the "Map" Array
ArrayList _2DArray=new ArrayList();
// Goes through Line 1-3 (mentioned above)
// For each line it:
// Splits the items along the "," and stores them in a 1Dimensilnall String Array
// Ads/Insterts that array into the correct spot for the 2D array
for(int i=0;i<tmpstr.length;i++)_2DArray.add(i,tmpstr.split(","));Does When it splits test,test1 with "," does it also return the , ?

  • How to uninstall older maps data - folders are dif...

    My E71 has maps data 0.1.24, i want to use newer 0.1.25. What are the steps to delete the older maps data?
    In my memory card, there is a folder cities, inside it there are folders called maploader, diskcache. Inside diskcache, there are folders including clientindex, etc.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Firstly although prepared to help with OVI Maps issues any solution given would be biased towards resolving problems for Mac users for whom OVI Suite is not an available option.
    Secondly with early N97 having a "chequered history" in that GPS hardware modification may not have been carried out on device if needed, resolution of issue may not be possible.
    Although easy for me to say, I would probably always advocate a "hard reset" being carried out on device even if firmware just updated, although this would entail loss of all data. Additionally it would probably be wise to re-format "mass memory" after saving any important data.
    I would at that point suggest downloading OVI Maps v3.04 for N97 Mini from here:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/maps-support/compatibility-and-download#/nokia-n97-m... ( avoiding need to use OVI Store or OVI Suite) drag across to "mass memory" find with device "File mgr" and install from there.

  • How can I parse this date format?

    Hey,
    i am trying to write an interface between two applications. One application gives me the following date:
         Wed Jul 16 12:18:20 CEST 2003
    but I need it to look like this:
         16.07.03 12.18:20
    I tryed to use Date and DateFormat to parse and change it but the Date was unparseable.
    I hope somebody can point me to the right direction or show me how I can do the formating.
    Thanx a lot!
    Martin

    If this isn't a well-known date format, I can't see any solution but to write small function yourself which doe the job.
    you can start with :
    String source = "Wed Jul 16 12:18:20 CEST 2003";
    String[] elements = source.split();//splits source around spaces
    then you write functions that map day of week with numbers
    "Mon" --> 1
    "Tue" --> 2
    etc...
    it won't take you days to write this.
    Sometimes it's faster to write the stuff yourself than spending days looking for something pre-defined that may or may not exist.

  • Parse a Date to String

    Hi
    i would use this to parse String to Date :
    public Date parseFromString(String dateString){
          try {
              java.text.SimpleDateFormat formatter
                  = new java.text.SimpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yy");
              return formatter.parse(dateString);
          catch (Exception e) {
          return null;
      }how can i parse a Date to string?
    Thanks
    D

    check the API Docs for SimpleDateFormat - particularly the format method. public StringFormatFromDate(Date date){
          try {
              java.text.SimpleDateFormat formatter
                  = new java.text.SimpleDateFormat("dd/MM/yy");
              return formatter.format(date);
          catch (Exception e) {
               // You really shouldn't catch Exception - and you really should do something in your catch
               // blocks so you don't post a question like "my code executes no problem, but nothing happens...
               e.printStackTrace();
          return null;
      }

  • How do i parse data from the second jframe back to the first?

    Hello.
    I have a jFrame were I promt users to keep a list of Names in a jTable. (I keep data for something else, but lets say names.. ) Anyway, afterwords I want to add some extra parameters for each name. So I created a new frame, which is opened when user press an Edit button. The new frame opens and users can add for the specific name some extra data, like age, height, color, sex.. etc. that characterizes this person.
    On this second form i have a save button, which when its pressed i would like to keep this information for this name, so as when user press edit again from the first frame on the same Name the data that previously entered will be loaded (lets say that the user can not enter the say name again)
    I haven' t figured the code for the save Button, but with the rest I am fine.
    Can you give any ideas with structures that I have to use and how the action listener will have to be??
    When I set visible the new form i have made a constructor that loads the new form which have a label with the name of the person that is edited., but how do i parse data from the second form back to the first that is already opened??
    Thanks very much..

    I found it.. it was not so hard afterall..
    anyway, i quote the new code..

  • How do I get routing data from the Map App (powered by TomTom) so I can display the point-to-point annotations (turn-by-turn navigation) without leaving my own application.

    I have a tableView displaying a list of contacts from a Cloud Database.  After selecting a contact, I push to a programmatically created MKMapView.  Then I display the initial region (the view) that includes the users current location (starting point) and their selected destination (end point).
    Now I want to display annotations (as described in the Location Awareness Programming Guide) that displays polylines which will represent the turn-by-turn navigation IN MY OWN APPLICATION, and not in the Map App currently used in IOS6.
    Due to licensing and its becoming depricated in IOS 6, I do not want to get routing data from the Google Maps API.  How do I get routing data from the IOS 6 Map App (powered by TomTom) so I can display the point-to-point annotations (turn-by-turn navigation) without leaving my own application?
    I checked out Stack Overflow and other forums which basically left me with the impression that this is not possible. I also checked out the TomTom iPhone Mobile SDK User Guide from the TomTom Developer Portal and am still confused.  It must be possible to retrieve routes, since the Map App can display turn-by-turn directions.  How can I retrieve turn-by-turn data that I may display as a route within my own application?

    Thanks Michael. Apologies for the slow reply I was away for a bit (holiday blitz at work and visiting family madness etc.etc.) back now, I set both options you requested to "never " and retried the CMS software with no change.
    I do have progress of a sort though, as a test I took a separate test PC and put a clean install of Win7 on and loaded up the CMS software (it worked perfectly) and then took the version of ole32.dll off that machine and put it onto the computer I had built
    for her (using Linux) and...
    got a new error code. Darn I was so sure I had found a clever solution this time lol.
    Anyway now when the CMS fails it gives me a similar error but the offending module is "ntdll.dll" sooo... I tried taking the "working" version of ntdll.dll from the test box and moving it over (making sure to back up the existing ones
    first so I could put them back if needed) to her new PC and the PC would not boot.
    It seems to want the original versions of a few Dynamic Link Libraries and if I could somehow give it those while not breaking Win7 it should theoretically work seeing as it no longer errors with ole32.dll.
    ntdll.dll however seems necessary for Win7 to boot.
    So what I am wondering now is:
    Is there some way to have both versions of the DLL file in the system32 folder (bypassing the "cannot have two files with the exact same name in the same folder" thing) or rename the original DLL's something else and somehow make the CMS look for
    the new named versions so the system has the updated DLL's it needs to boot/run and the CMS has the old ones it wants to run or is there someway to have a self contained install of the CMS, say on a USB flash drive and give it it's own E:/windows/system32/needed
    dll's  path to the files it needs?
    Willing to try any other options or settings you may have come up with as well.
    Thanks again for your reply and my apologies for not answering sooner.

  • How do you store parsed XML data in an array

    Hi, i am trying to complete a small program which implements the SAX parser to parse an XML file. My problem is that i am writing a custom class to store the parsed data into an array, and then make the array available to the main program via a simple method which returns the array. I know this must be very simple to do, but i seem to have developed a mental block with this part of the program. I can parse the data and print all the elements to the screen, but i just cant figure out how to store all the data elements into the array. I will post the class which is supposed to do this, and ask anyone out there if they know what i'm doing wrong, and also, if there is a more effeicient way of achieving this ( i expect there definitely is!! but i have never used the SAX parser before and am getting confused by the API docs on it!!) Any help very much appreciated.
    Here is my attempt at coding the class to handle the parsed XML data
    class Sink extends org.xml.sax.helpers.DefaultHandler
         implements org.xml.sax.ContentHandler{
    Customer[] customers = new Customer[20];
         int count = 1;
         int x = 0;
         int tagCount = 0;
         String name;
    String custID;
         String username;
         String address;
         String phoneNum;
    public void startElement(String uri, String localName, String rawName, final org.xml.sax.Attributes attributes)throws org.xml.sax.SAXException{
    //count the number of <name> tags in the XML file
         if(rawName.equals("name")){
              tagCount++;
    public void characters(char[] ch, int start, int len){
    //get the current string
         String text = new String(ch, start, len);
         String text1 = text.trim();
    //there are 5 elements for each customer found in the XML file so when the count reaches 6
    // i reset this to 1
         if(count == 6){
         count = count - 5;
         if(text1.length()>0 && count == 1){
              name = text1;
              System.out.println(name);
              }else{
         if(text1.length()>0 && count == 2){
              custID = text1;
              System.out.println(custID);
                   }else{
                   if(text1.length()>0 && count == 3){
                   username = text1;
                   System.out.println(username);
                   }else{
                        if(text1.length()>0 && count == 4){
                        address = text1;
                        System.out.println(address);
                        }else{
                        if(text1.length()>0 && count == 5){
                             phoneNum = text1;
                             System.out.println(phoneNum);
                             //add data to the customer array
                             customers[x] = new Customer(name, custID, username, address, phoneNum);
    // increment the array index counter
                        x = x+1;
                        }//end of if
                        }//end else
                        }//end else
                   }//end else
              }//end else
    }//end of characters method
    public void endDocument(){
         System.out.println("There are " + tagCount +
         " <name> elements.");
    }//end of class Sink
    Before the end of this class i also need to make the array available to the calling program!!
    Any help would be much appreciated
    Thanks
    Iain

    Ok, yer going about this all the wrong way. You shouldn't have to maintain a count of all the elements. Basically you are locking yourself into the XML tags not only all being there but are assuming they are all in the same order. What you should do is in your characters() method, put all of the characters into a string buffer. Then, in endElement() (which you dont use btw, you should) you grab the information that is in the string buffer and store it into your Customer object depending on what the tagName is.
    Also, you should probably use a List to store all the Customer objects and not an single array, it's more dynamic and you arent locked into a set number of Customers.
    I wont do it all for you, but I'll give you a good outline to use.
    public class CustomerHandler extends DefaultHandler {
        private java.util.List customerList;  // List of Customer objects
        private java.util.StringBuffer buf;   // StringBuffer to store the string of characters between the start and end tags
        private Customer customer;  // Customer object that is initialized with each entry.
        public CustomerHandler() {
            customerList = new java.util.ArrayList();   // Initialize the List
            buf = new java.util.StringBuffer();   // Initialize the string buffer
        //  Make your customer list available to other classes
        public java.util.List getCustomerList() {
            return customerList;
        public void startElement(String nsURI, String sName, String tagName, Attributes attributes) throws SAXException {
            // Clear the String Buffer
            //  If the tagName is "Customer" then create a new Customer object
        public void characters(char[] ch, int start, int length) {
            //  append the characters into the string buffer
        public void endElement(String nsURI, String sName, String tagName) throws SAXException {
            // If the tagName is "Customer" add your customer object to the List
            // Place the data from the String Buffer into a String
            //  Depending on the tagName, call the appropriate set method on your customer object
    }

  • How to parse system date to return Date and in yyyy-MM-dd format?

    Actually, After parsing the date from string, again it is converted into dfault format i.e. 21 Jan 00.00.00 etc...
    But I want this parsing date in yyyy-MM-dd format and again to return date.
    Can anybody tell me how to do this?

    Can anybody tell me how to do this?A Date object does not have a format, it represents a moment in time. You can use SimpleDateFormat to return a String representing that moment in time in many formats - this does not change the Date object to have that format (which it cannot since it does not contain a format).

  • How to parse URL Data into an NSString Array in iphone application

    Hi Every one
    I am newbie to iphone programming. I am having problem with reading and displaying the data into the table view. My application has to be designed like this. There is a csv file in the server machine and I have to access that URL line by line. Each line consists of 8 comma separated values. Consider each line has first name, second name and so on. I have to parse the data with comma and a newline and store them in an array of first name, second name array an so on. The next thing is I have to set first name second name combined and must be displayed in the UITableView. Can anyone provide me with an example of how to do it? I know I am asking the solution but I encountered a problem in connection methods separately and parsing simultaneously. You help is much appreciated.
    Thanks

    What does that have to do with a URL?
    The only thing that doesn't sound good is "array of first name" and "second name array". For each row, extract all the field and store them in an NSDictionary. Add a derived field consisting of first name concatenated with last name. That will be easy to display in a table.

  • How can I download UK map data in advance over Wifi

    I need to be able to download UK map data in Apple maps, for cycling navigation. How can I achieve this? Thanks

    You can't.
    Use an alternative navigation app from the AppStore that works without a data connection and downloads map data in advance.

  • How do I submit a correction to the mapping data?

    I live next door to a '4WD track' that is inaccessible to cars (and most 4WD's!), yet the mapping data on Nokia handsets shows this track as a road - we've had numerous people using the GPS on their Nokia trying to get up the track with a car an either a) getting stuck or b) having to reverse all the way back down the track (being a track there is no where to turn around).
    How do I submit a correction to the mapping data to flag this track as inaccessible and prevent more cars from following the GPS up the track?
    Thanks,
