How do I populate variable with NULL in link

I need to reset a variable value to null upon clicking on a link on the page. I have gone into the field and setup the link, selected the field, and set value to NULL, then told it to create the link.
When it gets to the new page I get an error of Invalid Number on the queries using the variable. I have an NVL in the query which works. How can I set the variable to NULL instead of the string value "NULL"

"216080",
I understand no more than the gist of your description, and nothing at all of the second sentence. But let me offer this in case it might help. To set an item value to null in a link, you can use a comma to represent the null value, for example f?p=100:1:&SESSION.::::P1_ITEM,P2_ITEM,P3_ITEM:999,,888 will set P1_ITEM to 999, P2_ITEM to null, and P3_ITEM to 888. This may not be exactly what you asked for ("to reset a variable value to null upon clicking on a link to the page") but it will set the various items' values in session state as I described at the time the page request is processed. Nothing will happen on the current page when you click the link.

    Can i know the message put by SIebel in JMS Queue was it SOAP converted adn then how they are going to handle in Process Sales order Requestor ABCS.

    HI,
    In JMS Consumer of order to cash pip, Instead of using a schema reference they use a Envolpe.zxsd file which will take care of conversion adn then other artibutes are mapped in a transformation file.
    Please take an export of jms consumer in jdeveloper and reverse engineer the code of JMS COnsumer Service.
    Envelope_To_ListOfSWIOrderIO is the xsl whcih converts the message in AIA Queue to a message in a SOAP. Please look into the transformation.

  • How to use shared variables with native c programs

    Hello
    What is the way to use shared variables with native c programs?
    I have a c/c++ program that uses the NIDAQmx C-API to perform measurements. Now I want to communicate to a LabVIEW program via shared variables.
    Is there a C-API for shared variables as there is for the NIDAQmx functionality? Where can I find further documentation? The document "Using the LabVIEW Shared Variable" mentions that one "can read and write to shared variables in ANSI C", but there are no hints about how and where to look.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi user42,
    with CVI 8.0, you cannot create or configure shared variables. However, you can read or write to an already configured LabVIEW 8.x shared variable from CVI using the DataSocket API.
    In order to do this you need to have and DataSocket 4.3 or higher installed.
    Here's a forum post about using the DataSocket functions a LabVIEW Shared Variables:
    http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=180&message.id=24569&requireLogin=False
    With CVI 8.1 and Measurement Studio 8.1 it's possible to use Shared Variables via the Network Varaiable Library (check out the end of the "Network-Published Shared Variable" section within the "Using the LabVIEW Shared Variable" documentation and the following link).

    if you have a file with more than one line but you only want the first line you could use 'head'
    VAR=`head -n 1 file`

  • How to create date variable with interval in VC

    Hi Everyone,
    I have 2 questions:
    <u>My scenario:</u>
    I am using a BI 7.0 Query which is having some variables. I want the same variables to be displayed in the VC output.
    <u>Question 1:</u>
    I know that how to bring these variables in variable screen, but when we use these queries, dont the variables in the variable screen automatically ask for the input?
    I tried it but it is not happening automatically.
    There are 2 inputs for queries with variables, i tried using both, but it is not working properly. Can any one tell me is it possible.
    <u>Question 2:</u>
    In this variable screen, I have to select date with interval format. but i dont know how to use variable with interval. ( Date with interval format).
    I hope some one might have come across the same scenario .. If so please share with the solution me ..
    Regards,
    Chan

    Ok .. Let me be very clear .. I think I confused you.
    As you mentioned I have done every thing in query level.
    I have created a query with a variable which is an interval based variable(date).
    When I execute the query it asks for the dates to display the inbetween data.
    I gave the inputs and the data is displayed properly.( So far what I have mentioned is all in Query designer).
    In VC, I have used this query and it is having two ports named INPUT and VARIABLE. I know that I need to give input in variables. I selected the calander month variable from the list to display. After this I deployed the model. In the output screen the table is displayed and 1 text box is also available for the date input. I know that here I have to give date with same format as in Query designer output. I tried so many ways to give input by even selecting some other options like date picker but it is giving the following error - <b>Variable expects interval values; enter an interval.</b>
    The date format which I m using in Query is "MM.YYYY" and I m using the same format in VC too.
    Now I hope that u can understand better.
    I want to know is there any other way through which this can enter interval value or what mistake I m doing in the above explained scenario?

  • How to replace one variable with another in large number of queries

    Hello guys!
    I have this situation: our company needs to use one variable instead of another for certain amount of queries.
    Is there some way to automatically replace one variable with another for a certain characteristic in big number of queries ( like 150 - 200 ) ? Doing this manually would take lots of time)
    Apreciate your help!

    you could try (at your own risk) the following:
    1. search the technical id (ELTUID) of your variable in table RSZELTDIR
    2. see where this variable is used in table RSZELTXREF (by filling RSZELTDIR-ELTUIID in RSZELTXREF-TELTUID)
    3. add similar entries for your new variable
    4. delete the entries for the old variable (they're part of the key, so you can't simply "change" them)

    Why are you using dynamic SQL statements? Why not just use something like this instead in your PL/SQL. I also replaced the leading // in your Xpath with just / since you start from the root node.
    select *
      INTO l_dummy
      from xmltable(XMLNAMESPACES('http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema' AS "XSD", default 'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/'),
                    '/definitions/types/XSD:schema/XSD:element'
                    passing xmltype(l_xml)
                    columns
                    ab xmltype path '.' ) t;Also, the above returns two rows, which I suspect is not what you want. Here is the pure SQL version for you to debug.
    select *
      from xmltable(XMLNAMESPACES('http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema' AS "XSD", default 'http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/'),

  • How to Set a Variable with data from Srouce Data Store

    Hello ODI Experts,
    I have created a Physical & Logical Schema and a Source Data store to pickup data from a database table.
    On the other hand, I have a few variable that I will pass in a web service call (ODIInvokeWebService tool).
    Would yo please guide how I can set variables from my source data store.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ahsan

    Hello Bos/Damodhar/ODI Experts,
    Doesn't it gives me a less optimized approach picking one column per query (per variable)?
    Lets say, I have to pick 35 columns from a table and put those in 35 variables...It would mean running 35 queries for fetching one record from the database table.
    Doesn't it seem less performance effective (less optimized)..a little scary..any thing better that I can do to make it more optimized?
    Another question, what if multiple new values have come in the DB table, since I am using Refresh Variable, would this variable have multiple values in it?
    Thanks for all your help,
    Ahsan

  • How to call a variable with a loop count in it

    First - I have a variable called "stages" this is a number
    that can vary. Because it can vary I want to run things in a loop
    based on the number that comes up as the stages variable amount.
    Second is a loop
    <cfloop index="riderCount" from="1" to "9">
    Next, I have a query
    <cfquery name="getPts" datasource="#application.dsn#">
    SELECT *
    FROM fantasy_racers
    WHERE proName='#pro#''
    </cfquery)
    ** Note: variable pro is set before the query **
    I have colums in my table: pts1, pt2, pts3, etc. all the way
    to pts25 for each pro in the table.
    Now to the heart of the matter
    I want to get the amount in each column. EX.: #getPts.pts1#
    but since the number of stages can vary I don't want to hard
    code for 25 outputs when there may only be 7
    so how can I call the column amount but utilize a ridercount
    in place of the number
    #getPts.pts
    ridercount#

    You can reference query variables in an array-of-structures
    notation:
    myQuery["MyColumn"][row]
    so you could do something like this:
    #getPts["pts" & riderCount][1]#
    Combine that syntax with Query.CurrentRow and
    Query.recordCount and you should be able to put a loop together
    that solves your problem.

    More than that the idiom that leads to factory creation is different for each factory. A factory that creates a database connection is substantially different than the one used in dynamic rules logic processing. A generic version will not be suitable for both.
    Actualy the only case I know of where such a factory might be seem to be a 'good' idea is where someone has gotten it into their head that every class should be represented by an interface and every class created by a factory (its own factory.) And of course that is flawed.

  • How to save a record with null foreign key?

    Dear all,
    Most articles show non-nullable foreign keys; but now I've got a problem with nullable foreign keys.
    With this simple example: an employee has zero or one manager.
    in manager object:
    @OneToMany(cascade={CascadeType.MERGE, CascadeType.PERSIST, CascadeType.REFRESH}, mappedBy="manager")
    private Collection<Employee> employees;
    in employee object:
    @ManyToOne
    @JoinColumn(name="manager_id")
    private Manager manager;
    when updating an employee record, i may use a selectOneMenu to pass a manager id of "0", I expect toplink to save a null manager_id in the employee record; but i tries to create a new manager object of id="0" (i.e. insert a new manager record instead)
    the code i use to save an employee is like this:
    em.getTransaction().begin();
    em.merge(employee);
    em.getTransaction().commit();
    What's the correct way to save the employee record with a null manager_id column?
    Could someone help?
    Thanks a lot!
    AK

    But could you give me some pointers on how could I do
    that from the web UI level?Got it. You want to select "nothing" and then set the object reference to that. I can't help you on JSF but how do you lookup the selected object behind the scenes? If you use entityManager.(Employee.class, 0) then you should get back null if there is no Employee with id=0.

  • [solved] How to avoid expanding variables with sed?

    Stupid question probably..
    Say I have a script that uses the variable $HOME, and I want to replace it with /another/dir using sed
    I try something like..
    sed -i "s_$HOME/file_/another/dir/file_g" script.sh

    Last edited by tjwoosta (2011-03-02 05:57:06)

    alternatively you could escape the $, if you wanted to mix some expanded vars and some not:
    sed -i "s_\$HOME/file_/another/dir/file_g" script.sh
    That should also work.

  • How do I display variables with # in them?

    Hello Cf peeps.
    I let users of my site create unique usernames and upload pictures.  They are then able to search those items for the exact name they entered.
    Today a user signed up with the name goboy#4.
    How can I avoid getting a cf error when on his profile page I output <cfoutput>#username#</cfoutput> where username = goboy#4?
    Thanks!

    Yes, because - as Reid said - # is a meaningful character in the composition of URLs... it's the separator between the path to the document, and an anchor within the document, eg:
    http://domain/path/to/doc.html#nameOfAnchor
    So you need to escape the # in the filename.  Fortunately CF caters for this, with the urlEncodedFormat() function.
    You should also familiarise yourself with how URLs work:
