How do I put out Result.ReportText only on a Failure
When a step fails I want to put some text out into the report with a failure path. I added the Callback "SequenceFilePostStepFailure" and added a function statement "Parameters.Step.Result.ReportText = FileGlobals.msgText" but my text doesn't get into the output.
What's going wrong? Am I useing the wrong callback? doe the paramenters not really put data out to the report? what do I need to do to get the information out?

Thanks for the help, I figure out the problem, not the solution.
I was putting text into my FileGlobals.msgText as a parameter passed back through a return parameter in the same step that was failing and no data was showing up in it. When I put text (as a test) in FileGlobals.msgText the step prior to the failing step, the text get's into the FileGlobals and the text gets to the report.
I also tried putting data into the FileGlobals.msgText as a pre-expression and the data didn't get out there.
So the problem becomes, if the callback happens on a failure step failure, why aren't the FileGlobals being updated in that step?
I'll ask the NI people. But I have some ideas to try.

How do i put the results from a calculation as the offset value
hi .. i am trying to set the value of the mask offset from the results i get from a calculation.
this is what i am trying to do
i want to get a ROI from an image, so i used thresholding to separate it form the background
then i find the centroid of the image. i then create a mask a little
larger than the ROI to get rid of the background in an unthresholded
image but the position of the mask is at origin(0,0)
i need the centroid of the mask to be the same as the ROI. so i
subtract the x and y values of the ROI centroid with the centroid of
the mask to get the offset. which is done manually. but i want to
do it for ROIs in different positions, so i want to get the value of
the subtraction staight into the VI .. how can i do that..?? i tried
wiring the value of subtraction into the input of the "set offset" node
but it does not work .. can anyone help me ??thanks very muchi managed to get it done...i did not know how about the cluster to element function .. could you comment on my program?
i'm trying to construct a sign language translator. for the
signing. i am using yellow colored gloves with colored finger tips. the
yellow region is to help me detect the position of the gloves during
thresholding.
1st of all .. i do thresholding to separate the ROI from the
background.. then i put a bouding box around the region of interest. is
there any better and easier way to do this??
could anyone point me in the right direction ?
i am very new to LV and image processing. i always have problem
using some functions especially when it requires lots of settings.
sometimes the help file does no help much ..
my next problem after creating the bounding box is how do i extract
only the colors from the image? i tried color thresholding but the
result is gray scale. how do i extract only the yellow region of the
gloves and the finger tips to be further processed? in MATLAB , color
segmentation is used.. but i can't figure how it works in LV .. please

Why did they release I cloud if idoesn't work properly. Gmail is no better the integration of gmail with my Mail app on my mac book is ridiculous. All of my rules are out of whack. I tried changing them and searching for the problem but I can't find anything wrong with my rules. mail just ends up everywhere. A few months ago I loved my mail program, now I am so ****** off. Can Gmail and apple just shake hand and quit ******* there customers over with ****** software.

I'm afraid your question is not clear. If you don't want music playing, close iTunes. If the music is on a web site that you are visiting, mute your sound - System Preferences>Sound>mute.

I can't believe all the issues that have happened with iTunes 7... I'm in the same boat as many - my iPod wont respond at all when connected to the comp, after working fine.
But I dont understand how they can release programs without checking them....
Even with the iPod itself.... so many times my ipod wont switch on after a day (this is before iTunes 7), making me have to press MENU. Also, it suddenly freezes.
The software doesnt seem solid at all. I dont know how a company like this with such a successful product can have second-rate software on it and being released!

I can't do the update it says I don't have enough storage it wont even let me download apps, I have very little on my Ipad i only have 1 song 24 apps 623 photos 96 videos and this has 13 GB
The 96 videos are probably the space hog.
How much space is used by your Other? You may be able to reduce.

My iPhone 4s has been update as I said in subject bar.. Now can't connect to any of my cars Bluetooth systems. Also even more frustratingly can't connect to any wifi networks at home or work!!
How can apple put out such an update that causes so much grief and inconvenience to hundreds of people. Not to mention risking lives with Bluetooth kits not working...outraged!!!!!!First, grow up. Just because YOUR phone isn't working, doesn't mean Apple put out bad software. I've not had any difficulty, nor has anyone else I know. And just how is Apple risking lives with Bluetooth kits not working? It's YOUR decision to talk on the phone or text and drive. Not Apple's.
We're users here, volunteering our time to help others. Posts like yours, which are whiny and ranting, simply means we're likely to ignore you and not provide you with any help. Not to mention, it makes you look absolutely foolish.
Further making you look foolish is the fact that you haven't even asked a technical support question, nor have you provided anyone here with any troubleshooting steps you might have taken, including those recommended in the user guide.

The attached file is work inprogress, with some dummy data sp that I can test it out without having to connect to equipment.
The second tab is the one that I am having the problem with. the output array from the replace element appears to be starting at the index position of 1 rather than 0 but that is ok it is still show that the new data is placed in incrementing element locations. However the main array that I am trying to build that is suppose to take each new calculation and place it in the next index(row) does not ap
pear to be working or at least I am not getting any indication on the inidcator.
Basically what I am attempting to do is is gather some pulses from adevice for a minute, place the results for a calculation, so that it displays then do the same again the next minute, but put these result in the next row and so on until the specifiied time has expired and the loop exits. I need to have all results displayed and keep building the array(display until, the end of the test)Eventually I will have to include a min max section that displays the min and max values calculated, but that should be easy with the min max function.Actually I thought this should have been easy but, I gues I can not see the forest through the trees. Can any one help to slear this up for me.

but I have a few tips for you that might things a bit easier:
- You use local variables excessively which really complicates things. Try
not to use them and it will make your life easier.
- If you flowchart the design (very similar to a dataflow diagram, keep in
mind!) you want to gather data, calculate a value from that data, store the
calculation in an array, and loop while the time is in a certain range. So
theres really not much need for a sequence as long as you get rid of the
local variables (sequences also complicate things)
- You loop again if timepassed+1 is still less than some constant. Rather
than messing with locals it seems so much easier to use a shiftregister (if
absolutely necessary) or in this case base it upon the number of iterations
of the loop. In this case it looks like "time passed" is the same thing as
the number of loop iterations, but I didn't check closely. There's an i
terminal in your whileloop to read for the number of iterations.
- After having simplified your design by eliminating unnecessary sequence
and local variables, you should be able to draw out the labview diagram.
Don't try to use the "insert into array" vis since theres no need. Each
iteration of your loop calculates a number which goes into the next position
of the array right? Pass your result outside the loop, and enable indexing
on the terminal so Labview automatically generates the array for you. If
your calculation is a function of previous data, then use a shift register
to keep previous values around.
I wish you luck. Post again if you have any questions. Without a more
detailed understanding of your task at hand it's kind of hard to post actual
code suggestions for you.

This is a bit of a broad question, let me try to understand your needs a little better.
Are you looking to use FormsCentral to either create your form or create the form and collect and manage the responses? Are you looking for a web/HTML form or a PDF?
FormsCentral allows you to create web/html forms that when they are submitted the data is sent to FormsCentral and in a Paid level subscription you can configure Email Notifications to email the results to you, they are also always available in FormsCentral to view and analyze. For the web/HTML form you can simply add a link to the form on your website, or the web/HTML form can also be "Embedded" into your web site (there is Embed code on the Distribute tab).
FormsCentral can also create a PDF form, the PDF can either send the responses to FormsCentral like the web form with the same options (Notifications etc), and can also be a PDF form without a "Submit" button where you can then add a Submit button of your own that would email the responses to you. This requires having Adobe Acrobat to edit the form and add your own Submit button.
If you do use PDF see this FAQ on PDF in the web - we do not recommend "embedding" the PDF into your web page, do not have the PDF open in the browser, the users should download the PDF and fill it out using the Free Adobe Reader: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-4142

Tapping on ad in Windows Phone does nothing
