How do I read the excitation Voltage from an NI 9237

Hello everyone,
I am new to labview and have some previously set up code I am trying to work with in a research situation. We have a strain gauge connected to an NI 9237 module which in turn is connected to a cRIO-9022.
Our issue is that during our reading there is an constant upwards trend in the data that occurs over time. We want to check the excitation voltage the 9237 is sending to the strain gauge in software so that we can (hopefully) properly account for any drifting that is occuring in the excitation voltage. In the attached project I have all our code.
Again, any advice or guidance would be appreciated. Right now the excitation voltage is set to 5V and we have a constant input of 5V in the VI but I would like to replace that with a reading of the excitation voltage.

If you have a module with an Analog Input, I don't see why you couldn't wire the excitation up to an AI and log it that way.

Hello! I am trying to develop an application in C++ for measurements with Agilent(HP) 8510C network analyser using NI488.2 and National Instrument's PCI-GPIB card. In HPBASIC the trace data is read using OUTPDATA command which contains PREAMBLE, SIZE and then the data string in real and imaginary pair for the required points. It seems that in HPBASIC you were using an instrument driver for the 8510C. OUTPDATA is not a native HPBASIC function. National Instrument has similar instrument drivers for LabVIEW and CVI.

For example in the CVI instrument driver you will find a source file called hp8510.c. In the source code you will find a function called hp8510c_dataInRaw that sounds similar to the function that you described.
Note that this example is designed for CVI, but it is possible that you could extract the information you need for C++. If
you had a copy of CVI you could just add the files downloaded from the instrument driver to a project and then compile and run the project. It already contains a ready to run example that allows you to capture data and use your instrument.

How do I read the display icon from the IStep interface?

I would like to read the step icon from a step object for display on my custom UI. IStep::GetSmallIcon returns a LPDISPATCH, but I can't find in any of the documentation how to use that interface pointer to get the icon handle of the step. Is there an TS icon interace that I should query for?

Hi,
::GetSmallIcon returns a IPictureDisp. IPictureDisp has a property called DISPID_PICT_HANDLE which returns the handle.
Here is an example code in CVI
pictureH is a CAObjHandle(IPictureDisp)
CA_PropertyGet (pictureH, &errorInfo, DISPID_PICT_HANDLE ,CAVT_LONG, &stepIcon);

Is there anyway to read the unscaled voltage from a scaled virtual channel?

I am using DAQmx to read voltage from a SCXI chassis. Programmically in Labview I created a task with virtual channels and custom scales. Later in the program, I wish to view the scaled volatge and the raw voltage at the same time. Is there a property node which will allow me to do so?

Hi Fergusonhd -- yes, there is a way to do this --> Look in DAQmx-> DAQmxAdvanced-> Scale -> Scale Property node.
Drop it in and wire in your scale.(I did it by creating a constant for active_scale) Select the various attributes depending on the type of scale you created and manipulate your signals based on that information - For ex. if you created a linear scale, you could get information about the slope and intercept from this property node -- that being said, you can use this information and do the reverse logic:
[if original was Y=aX+b]
X = (Y-b)/a
where b is the Y intercept and a is the slope

I am afraid there ain't any direct method to extract XML field from a data base.
Indirect way could be converting the whole table (instead of one field) into XML format and then extract one field from it!!

How can I read the serial data from my mouse on com 1?

I just started using LABView so please have patience with me!
An error message says the resource is valid but VISA can not open a session with the device, in this case a Roller ball cannected to the comm port. Obviously windows is already using this device, I don't want to over ride it just monitor it.

If you are using LV 7 the attached VI demonstates how to use the new functions that are now included with LV.
I just stumbled across these earlier today and they worked right out of the box.

How can I read the voltage from a serial port

I am fairly new to LabView and I am having trouble figuring out how to read the DC voltage coming out of an RF Power Supply through a serial port so that I can monitor the voltage every few seconds. In order to do this do I need to purchase a DAQ card or anything like that?

You would not need a DAQ card to read data over the serial port. You would, however, need a serial port. That may sound sarcastic, but it's not, since many manufacturers are ditching serial ports on computers. If you don't have a serial port then you would need to get something like a USB<->serial adapter or a serial port card that you plug into an expansion slot in your computer.
Assuming you've got that then you need to find the command set for the RF Power Supply, and write drivers for it so you can send the command to read the voltage, and then read the resposen. I would suggest looking in the Instrument Driver Network to see if a driver for your supply has already been written.

How to make SSIS packages automatically read the input file from a path?

Currently I am using a SSIS package to read data from a .dat file and load it into SQL Server tables.
I am placing the input .dat file on the desktop. In the connection manager -> Browse option, I am pointing this file to create connection.
The file naming convention is like - aSNAP_Data_20140926_P-2014-09-26_07.02.36
However, I need the SSIS package to automatically read the input file from a folder which is located in a remote server. This folder has lots of files where input files are added on a daily basis with the date value in the file name as mentioned above.
I want to schedule the SSIS package to run daily and take the latest file in the folder based on the date.
Please let me know how to do it. Any help would be highly appreciated.....

According to your description, you want to get the latest file from a path to a SQL Server table. After testing the issue in my environment, we can refer to the following steps to achieve your requirement:
Create two variables, VarFolderPath stores the folder path in which our files exist, VarFileName hold the value of most recent File Name.
Drag a Script Task from SSIS Toolbox to Control Flow Pane, then select “User::VarFolderPath” as ReadOnlyVariables, select “User::VarFileName” as ReadWriteVariables.
Then Edit Script with the C# code below:
Add “using System.IO;” into namespace.
Add the code below under Main function:

            FileInfo[] files = directory.GetFiles();

Add the property below the Flat File Connection Manger expression:
Property: ConnectionString      Expression: @[User::VarFolderPath] +"\\"+ @[User::VarFileName]
Drag an OLE DB Destination that connect to the Flat File Source, then configure a table to store the data.

Hello,
You can't select image with select query. You need to create another database block from test table which has item binds with database pic column. Now in where condition in test block's property you have to write id=5. Change test block's properties UPDATE ALLOWED, INSERT ALLOWED, DELETE ALLOWED to NO. Only Query allowed property set to YES.
Now in your particular trigger write the code
GO_BLOCK('test');
Execute_Query;

How to read the field type from field id of DynamicFldTbl

In my application, i am using DynamicFldTbl, whch parses FML32 field table definition file. My field table definition file contains information about field names and its types.
I checked the API of DynamicFldTbl and didn't find any API to get the field type from field it.
Any way to read the field type from field id?

Hi Raguraman,
Once you have the field table, you can then create an FML32 buffer (TypedFML32) using the constructor that takes a field table, and then use the Fldtype() method on the specific field ID you wish to get the type of. I know this is sort of tedious and we should provide Fldtype() and some others on the field table class directly.

Scc sg04: can the excitation voltage value be change?

Hello everyone!
I have a question if someone can and is willing to help me.
Im using a DAQ system connecting a SCC SG04 to SCC68 for acquiring data from 2 pressure transducers. The excitation voltage provided by SCC-SG04 is 2.5V, but the pressure transducers only require maximum 1V. I was trying to modify from DAQ Assistant the value of the excitation to 1V but Im receiving errors (200077) from DAQ Ass. Could you tell me please if there is a way to change the excitation voltage as to each of the sensors to receive 1V? Is this value of voltage 2.5V a constant for this type of signal conditioning?

I have done some more research into you problem. The tutorial you were looking at is correct. However the SCC module that you are using has a built in excitation voltage of 2.5V and this cannot be changed through MAX.
I can suggest two options:
1) Connect a potential divider to the excitation voltage terminals of the module to reduce the voltage.
2) Connect an external power supply to your pressure sensor to provide the excitation voltage. Then use the SCC module to read the voltage output from the sensor.

The Properties class is already a subclass of Hashtable. So if you have a Properties object, you already have a Hashtable. So all you need to do is the first part of that:Properties props = new Properties();

wa_fieldcat-fieldname = 'FWAER'.
wa_fieldcat-seltext_l = text-023.
wa_fieldcat-no_zero = 'X'.
APPEND wa_fieldcat TO i_fieldcat.
CLEAR wa_fieldcat.

I've a new account on iMac. When composing an email the contact list does not show up on the bar, which would allow me to select the persons I want to include on the distribution of the email. When I start keying in a name in the email, it comes up with the person's address, which shows it is synced. How do I engage the contact list from the email like I do on my old account (where a contact list icon shows up, along with the "attach" and other icons) ?

With the New Message window open, go to the View menu and select "Customize Toolbar...".
In the screen that opens, drag the item labelled "Address" into the Toolbar area of the New Message window, then click the "Done" button.
That item should be then added to the Toolbar for the New Message window.
Note that the main Mail window and the New Message window (as well as the separate message window if you open a message that way) use different toolbars - the settings/inclusions for one do not carry over to another.
