How do I remove little black arrows next to some addon buttons?

These tiny arrows greatly annoy me when I add these elements to the sidebar. Is there a way to remove them?

Does clicking the arrow have the effect as clicking the icon part because sometimes the serve a different purpose?
It should be possible to remove the drop marker arrows (they usually have a -dropmarker suffix) with code in userChrome.css, but you would need to know the ID of each toolbar button or else they will all be removed and you may want to keep some (e.g. there are two Bookmarks buttons in the toolbar palette).

Since upgrading to iTunes 8, I can no longer find the setting to remove the arrows next to the song name, artist, album and genre. I don't like them in my library as it takes up space and creates clutter while I'm browsing though.

How can I remove the black slide?

I created a slide show in iPhoto and saved it as a movie, .mov
Apparently in the conversion, a black slide was created at the beginning. This slide is not visible in iPhoto, but it is in .mov and MPEG-4
Does anyone know how to remove that black slide?

Do you have Quicktime Pro? If so you can move the play head arrows in Quicktime Player to each side of the black frame and cut it out. If you don't have QT Pro try it anyway with QT Player. It might allow that type of editing. Otherwise try using iMovie to trim the black start frame off.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

Using footage from my iPhone 4, how can I remove the black bars on the sides of my picture? Or change the color to white...

My footage is vertical and there are two black bars on the side filling in the rest of the picture. I want to imbed this into PowerPoint without the black bars on the side. Any suggestions on how I can remove them or at least change the color to white? I changed the background color in View > Background > White, but it was only for editing purposes and didn't keep the color after rendering.

To change the background to white, in FCE, place the video on track V2 and place a color matte generator on track V1. The default color for the color matte is grey so you'll need to change it to white using the color picker.

I'm using thunderbird on Mac OS X Mountain Lion. Whenever an email is forwarded, an arrow appears on the original email. How do I remove this? I don't want to remove it for every single email that has been forwarded, just some of them.

They are in your Profile folders which are hidden files. So you need to make hidden files and folders visible.

However, when you restart Thunderbird, a new .msf file will be created as it is the indexing file. As soon as you 'Forward' / 'Reply', the email in the list will be marked with the appropriate arrow. So it will not be a permanent fix. As Matt explained, you cannot permanently remove this as it is a signifier that the email ws 'forwarded' or 'Replied'.
You can only stop this occuring by not using 'Forward or Reply'.
You can only remove it from the display by deleting the current .msf file for that folder until you 'Forward or Reply' another email. Then it will reappear for that email.

How do I remove annoying black box surrounding icons and windows...

I hate to think that this something very simple but I can't figure it out.
There is a black box that surrounds icons when I single click on them and while I'm in my browser its surrounding the red x circle in top left of window.
Whole in iTunes it surrounds the main window with the list of music.

enter command+F5. this will turn off voice over which you've accidentally activated.

I am not an expert but here's my two cents:
The exclamation point means itunes cannot find the music file in order to play it. There are several possible reasons for this, including but not limited to changing the name or location of your music library/songs, or storing them on an external hard drive or device that is not currently attached. The solutions for these are different so let me know if any of these apply and we can troubleshoot.

You need to find the file you want associated with that track. It should be in a logical structure in your Media folder. If you don't know how to find files or navigate the directories on your computer ask the IT person. Once you have found the file iTunes may ask if you want it to find others, and if you're lucky it can.

So what you're saying is the PDF already exists on your web server, and all you want to do is navigate in the browser from your ADF application to the PDF, yes? If that's correct, let's assume you're PDF exists at:

How do I remove the big arrow on upper toolbar that glows when I download anything?

Recently an arrow appeared at the top of my upper toolbar next to search window. It glows when downloading and tells time I have left to finish. Then enlarges when download is finished. It's stupid. I have download bar in my add-ons to track downloads. How do I get rid of it, very annoying!! My son's computer got one too and is a little different in color, but he hates it too. Is it an automatic Mozilla update? I didn't download any add-ons or browers recently.

How do I remove the black border from around my videos?

I have PE7 on my Dell laptop with Windows 7. I've been editing videos on it probably since January. I just never thought anything of the black border, but recently it's really been bugging me. I tried Googling some answers, but all I found was to switch your camera to 16:9 Widescreen. My JVC Everio GZ-MG555U was already set to that setting. I'm just frustrated & I want to get rid of this border. If anyone knows the answer to this problem, please let me know. I need help!

Thanks for staying with the troubleshooting. I will stay with this as long as it takes to get the project to a successful conclusion. Let us work through this step by step.
1. The readout that you give for your JVC video file is consistent with what those .mod widescreen files have been reading out as, that is,
720 x 480 with a pixel aspect ratio of 0.9091 (standard 4:3) rather than 720 x 480 with a pixel aspect ratio of 1.2121 (widescreen 16:9).
2. Premiere Elements 7. Start a new project with the project preset of NTSC DV Widescreen.
3. With Get Media/Files and Folders import your video clip into the project and drag it to the Timeline.
4. Go to Interpret Footage and, in the Interpret Footage dialog, dot the Conform to: and change the Pixel Aspect Ratio to
D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 16:9 (1.2).
5. Right click the Monitor, select Magnification, and make sure that that the setting is "Fit". Now look at the Edit Mode Monitor space. Is the area designated for the video display filled? No black borders? If so, continue. If not, you are going to scale the video to make the fill. It should not take much scaling for this if needed.
a. Select your video on the Timeline
b. Open Properties/Motion Panel to reveal Scale. Use the Scale slider to zoom in to fill the monitor space to the minimal degree to achieve that purpose, that is, getting rid of any unfilled space (black borders).
6.Then export that Timeline to a NTSC DV AVI widescreen file, saving it to the computer desktop.
Use Share/Computer/DV AVI with Presets: DV NTSC Widescreen
Check out how your NTSC DV AVI widescreen plays back on Windows Media Player. Nevertheless, continue on....
7. Go to the YouTube web site and upload your DV NTSC Widescreen there. And, let us know the results.

I am getting a black rectangle appearing everywhere the cursor ends up (eg, toolbar, screen, etc). Don't know how it became activated. Also has lots of odd acoustics associated with it. Would like to remove it. Appreciate any help.

Are you using the "Reflections" theme in your slide show? Then the mirrored reflection is built in and you cannot remove it. It is part of the design. Pick a different theme, if you do not like this feature.
