How do I remove Shared Computers?

I've reached my threshold with this computer. I have a MACBOOK PRO, I've reviewed all the information on the blogs as well in doing searches on the web looking for more answers.
Disabled shared users, unchecked everything, changed my passwords, deleted their wifi off my keychain, gone to preferences in finder, Unchecked "connected Servers," and still this persons computer keeps showing up every 2 minutes I connect to my wifi. I don't speak to this person anymore, and oddly every time their computer shows up on the list, mine slows down and begins to have a giant lag in everything I'm trying to do.
I'm not sure if they're hacked into my system, but this is driving me insane. I'm on the verge of throwing my computer into the wall.
PLEASE HELP! SOMEONE! ANYONE!?

Devices that show up on the SHARED list in the sidebar of a Finder window do not represent devices that are hacking into or connected to your machine. They are devices on the same network that are available to be connected to.
Does this person live nearby? If so, he/she is likely still using your wireless network, so the machine is showing up when your machine queries the network. Change your wireless network's password to lock him/her out.
If this person does not live nearby, are you still sharing an Apple ID? If so, that could cause a remote Mac using the same Apple ID and with Back to My Mac enabled to show up there. If this Apple ID is yours, and he/she should not be using it, change the Apple ID password. If it is not yours, you will need to create your own Apple ID, sign out of the old Apple ID in System Preferences -> iCloud, then sign in to the new Apple ID.
As for the lag, that is purely coincidental. A device that shows up in the SHARED list cannot in any way affect the performance of your Mac. The only exception would be if you were to try to connect to that device... if the connection is poor, it could affect performance. If you have connected, you need to disconnect to restore performance. If you don't know how to do that, just restart the computer.

How can I remove sharing of iTunes on a Macbook Pro?

You can only deauthorize a computer by connecting it to iTunes then deauthorizing it. It cannot be dauthorized remotely unless you deauthorize all computers. You can do that but only once a year. Now that you have five authorized devices all you can do is deauthorize all of them then reauthorize the ones you still possess.

  • How do I get shared computers to show up in the sidebar in Leopard?

Still trying to come to terms with Leopard's way of doing things, and can't get shared computers to show up in the sidebar. I've never shared computers before, so need very basic instructions on how to do this. I thought I had set up for other specific computers to share, but nothing happens. Do they need to be using Leopard too?
    Thanks for any help.

All of the things that folks seem to be having problems with are broadcast or multicast based. If you're not seeing things, chances are really good it's because you're not seeing the broadcasts / multicast packets. Why? Donno... shouldn't be any different than Tiger and "works fine for me".
Here is how you see what multicasts are going on the wire (broadcast are just another type of multicast):
    sudo tcpdump -nvvXi en1 -s 1500 multicast
When you do this, if it's the first time you've run sudo, it will give you a warning and ask for your password since this is a privileged command. The next time, it will only prompt you for a password (unless you ran it recently and your password is cached).
There are a few different types of broadcasts that you'll want to be looking for. Note: These are only examples of each type - there are multiple sub-types of these to advertise other details. I'm only giving generic descriptions of each - the packet data in yours will be different, but a similar format.

If you're not seeing these packets, you're not going to see anything in your finder.
Why would you not see them?
    1) Your firewall is blocking them from going out from the system that is sharing data
    2) Your firewall is blocking them from coming in from the system that is looking for the data
    3) The necessary services are not started on either system
    4) Your network does not properly forward multicast and broadcasts between hosts
I've posted a number of threads on how to figure out each of the above situations. An easy thing to check is to do a 'netstat -anp udp' and see if there is a *.XXX where XXX is the port number listed in each of the descriptions. If there is, your system is listening for the packets and I'd check the firewall. If there is not, your system isn't setup right to listen for them (double check your file sharing settings and options).

  • How can I prevent shared computers from automatically connecting?

When I click on a shared computer in the finder using bonjour, the computer is automatically connected. It should require a password, but I can't seem to prevent this. Please help me prevent this computer from automatically connecting. Thanks

You need to modify the preferences on the MacBook. The System Preferences>sharing pane should show you the options. You can add or delete users and folders, and I believe if you turn off all sharing options, you won't be able to connect to the machine.
Here's my System Preferences window for reference.

  • Remove shared review

How can I remove shared review from an Acrobat X PDF? Everytime I open this PDF a message appears "Please connect to join the shared review..." I want to remove that altogether. In Acrobat 9 it could be removed by choosing File > Save a Copy, but I don't see that option in Acrobat X.

The Save a Copy menu item is still there in Acrobat X, but it only shows if the open document is part of a Shared Review.
If the SR has been ended by the initiator (using Tracker) then the document message bar will also show a button to save an archive copy, which does the same thing.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You must reinstall OS X in order to register it with your Apple ID. If your computer came with DVDs:
    1. Insert the OS X DVD and press C key on boot.
    2. Go to Utilities > Disk Utility and erase the drive.
    3. Reinstall OS X. When it finishes, open  > Software Update and install the most recent version
If it didn't come with any DVDs, check > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4101

  • What are these shared computers and how do I remove them from Finder?

I have four Macs on my closed, hidden wifi network. Two iMacs and Two macbooks. For some reason, two unknown computers are showing up on the network, but only on two out of the four macs, one imac and one macbook, incedentally the two units with built in SD card readers. They are: hp0025b3e8a8ca and hp3c4a921329ca. I'll post a screen shot. They both have one folder called MEMORY_CARD and I can't open it. I've double checked, I don't have SMB sharing enabled on any of my macs. They have the little icon associated with a windows machine. Any idea what these are and how I can remove them from finder? is someone else on my network?

How are u connected, as in ISP, University Network, etc.? I get shares like that too, as my ISP here in Nepal is using some crazy way of sharing connections with customers. I called and asked them once, but they have not clue about Macs. I suspect it's a technician doing some work in the office, who is tapped into the same C1 connection that I am using, but it is a bit disconcerting to see computers you don't know on your Network.
When I teach in Thailand, I am on a university system that will show all the users connected to the same hotspot. That's why I lock down my sharing when there. It's kinda crazy, as I don't really understand all the security settings and what they imply. It would be nice if there were a guide for home/small business Lans on what exactly the settings should be in OSX, but I suppose it's all out there in Google, somewhere...

  • Just noticed my landlord's computer shows up on my shared drive.. How do I remove him? Can he access my computer? How do I change that? Thx.

Just as it says above. How do I remove access to their computer? And can I make sure they can't get into mine?

That is because all computers will show in the Shared section that are on the same local area network, the same lan. So you and he share a internet connection and are connected to that internet connection by the same router.
No he can't get to your mac unless he knows the exact user name and password for that user name on your mac.
    Does he know that information?
There is no way to remove that entry in the shared section of finder except to uncheck the Shared section of the finder preferences in the sidebar area.

  • How can I distinguish multiple computers with home sharing?

I have 2 computers which have Home Sharing turned on. When I use Apple TV it shows both computers and can play videos from both without any problems.
What I cannot work out is how to change the names of the shares. They both have the same name which appears to be determined by the first name from my itunes account which is sharing files rather than using the name of the library on the computer. So, both computers look identical. I cannot tell which one I am choosing from the list.
Since most of my videos are on an external hard drive which will only be connected to one at a time, I can only tell if I have selected the correct one when the video plays or shows an error.
Why does Home Sharing not care what I want to name my library or about the name of the sharing computer? Have I missed something? I know how to change the name of my "shared library" but it is irrelevant to what Apple TV can see.
It seems pointless to show the name of a shared library if that name is determined by the sharing account when Apple TV can only use one account at a time. Every computer it will allow will be called the same thing.
If it's relevant, my sharing computers are using Mac OSX 10.7 and Windows 7.

When I change it to say Matt's library from administrators library, the name changes on my apple tv. I'm not sure about 2 computers though. I would think changing the library name under preferences would work.

  • How can I determine what computers are home sharing??

How can I determine what computers are home sharing??

Launch iTunes on the computers you're interested in. Check in the "Advanced" menu.
If "Turn on Home Sharing" is listed as an option, the iTunes library that you have open is not Home Sharing.
If "Turn off Home Sharing ([accountname]) is listed as an option, the iTunes library that you have open is Home Sharing.

I have 5 computers authorized to use my iTunes. 2 of those computers do not exist and  have had their hard drives destroyed. How do I remove those computer from my iTunes account?

Begin by opening the iTunes program and going to the iTunes Store via the iTunes Store button in the top right.
Once you're at the iTunes Store, click on the Sign In button at the top left corner (if you're not signed in) or on your account name in the same location (if you're already signed in).
This will bring you to your iTunes account. In the top box, you'll see a section labelled Computer Authorizations towards the bottom. Next to it is a button that reads Deauthorize All. Click it.
A window will pop up asking you to confirm that this is what you want to do. Continue.
In just a few seconds, all 5 computers on your account will be deauthorized.
Now, re-authorize just the computers that you still use and you'll be all set.

You do realize that the SIM only contains account information for your wireless account.
Moving the SIM from phone to phone does not cause any of your iTunes content, contacts, email, etc to magically appear on the device.
