I can t find a way to rename a group of photos at the same time as I did in Aperture. Has anyone a solution ?

In iPhoto '11: Select the photo in the "Faces" stack, open the "Info" panel, click on the face name in the "faces" brick and then on the name below the face to edit the name.

If you're not taking them out of iPhoto, then you need to back up the iPhoto Library:
Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store

Create an album, then search using a keyword. Select all the photos produced by the search and drag them into the album.

Rename a group of photos.

Does anybody know a simple way to rename a batch of photos in 'Photos'? I want to rename 50+ photos with one name + sequential of numbers e.g. Garden 001.....Garden 053, but there doesn't seem to be a simple way. I used to do the change in Aperture, but the name change doesn't transfer now. It has to be simple.

I know this is more of a workaround than a solution but it works for me and is very simple. You can just export the photos (renaming them sequentially in the process) and then reimport them into Photos. In Photos select the photos you want renamed, go to File -> Export -> Export Photos. Under "File Name:" towards the bottom, choose sequential, then for "Sequential Prefix" put your "Garden " and when the photos are exported (to the folder you select after clicking Export) they will show up as Garden-001, Garden-002, etc.
Then you can import these photos back into the Photos App if you wish, and either save or delete the original files that you exported & renamed. Like I said it's a workaround but works fine for me. It sounds like a lengthy process but it's actually very simple and fast.
If someone has a better way to just rename the photos in the app without exporting them I'd love to hear it!

It is possible to make a collage manually and its quite easy. This method may suit your purpose.
Click File >> Open and select all of your photos
That will add them to the project bin
Then select File >> New >> Blank File
Select background color White (or whatever you prefer) and add your width and height for your final image (set resolution 72 for web usage or 240 to 300 for printing) then click OK
In the project bin click your first photo and drag it up into the main window on top of your new background.
Click on the move tool and click in the center of the photo and drag to arrange it where you want on the background - you can hold down the shift key to maintain original proportions whilst dragging the corner handles of the bounding box to get the size you want.
Do the same with the next photo (drag it up into the main window) and use the move tool to position it. Then continue with each image.
Finally Click Layer >>Flatten image and save as jpeg. (Save as PSD if you want to preserve the layers for editing again)
N.B. as you add images they get dropped in the center. So you need to use the move tool to drag them apart. Click in the middle of one and move it around, and then the others until you get them positioned as you want
When you click again with the move tool a bounding box appears around the image and you can drag out the corner handles to re-size your photos. Hold down the shift key when dragging the corner handle and that will maintain the proportions of the original.
Finally click Layer >>Flatten Image and save - you may then want to use the crop tool to cut away any surplus white canvas, and then re-save.

How do I name a group of photos in new Photos app?

I have always used the Batch Change command in iPhoto to rename several photos of the same subject all at once, so I can easily locate them later. This command has disappeared. Is there some kind of workaround? I really really need this feature, or one that accomplishes the same thing.

How do I CENTER a group of photos on a page without merging them first?

I have six photos which are aligned and distributed equally and linked so they move as one. I want to center this group on the page but as soon as the background layer is selected, each photo piles onto each other with a mind of its own. Tried everything I know (which isn't really very much). It will work if I merge the group, but I don't want to do that. Thanks for any help. It's probably an easy fix . . . I have an 'untitled group' in my contacts on my iphone 4. How can I rename that group please?

I have some contacts in a separate group that comes up as 'untitled group'. I want to properly name that group but have no idea how to do that and I cant find any reference to naming contact groups in the i phone online manual. Any solutions please. Thanks. Anthony

The other option is to back up your iPhone 4 to iCloud now, then reset the iPhone 6 (Settings>General>Reset All Content & Settings) and then set it up again using the most current iCloud backup.

I use a summer 2007 iMac with latest operating system and latest aperature, both have latest updates. I've read the applicable help data. Should be really simple. Just select the photos to be rotated and do it. What simple item am I missing? I never had any problem with iPhoto, especially in this regard. I've been enduring this for a couple of years
I just don't want to pay Apple to help with such a simple item.
When I have a lot of photos to rotate and am reduced to doing them individually its frustrating and I wish I never left iPhoto.

It is simple - what is the problem, that it does not work for you?
Select the images in the Browser and press the "Rotate" button. Hold down the alt/opt key, if you want to change the rotation direction.
Make sure, the "Primary Only" option is not enabled - otherwise only the "primary" selected image will be rotated, see:

Select those you want to rename and use the Photos->Batch Change menu option. There you can select Title to text and put in what you want and have them sequentially numbered after the text.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
