How do I repeat a command in numbers?

Excel has the capability to repeat and undo a command.  It appears Numbers can only undo a command (CMD-z).  Does Numbers have the capbility to repeat a command?

Undo applies to (almost) any action, not just commands.
Its opposite, Re-do (shift-command-Z) applies only to something that has been Undone.
Numbers has no equivalent to Excel's Repeat feature.
Feature enhancement request may be made via Provide Numbers Feedback, found in the Numbers menu.

    Make a feature request.
    Illustrator and in general many Adobe products are lacking considerably with repeated tasks. The number of hotkeys available is limited to using Function keys and a lot of them are already assigned by default to frequently used tasks. Also, often users need to repeat a task frequently in one or a few sessions but not every day on a regular bases which doesn't justify creating an action and occupying a hotkey that is easy to forget if not used daily. Nowadays production programs are brimming with features and there are a lot of excellent solutions already invented and used by may programs but unfortunately Illustrator is not one of them. Here are some examples of excellent solutions:
    a hotkey for the last menu command selected
    a hotkey for the previous tool selected (for example while using the Sheer Tool on existing objects, you want to draw a box and quickly go back to the Sheer Tool)
    list of recently used menu commands panel
    tearoff menus similar to the existing tearoff toolbars (imagine it was possible when you go to Object > Paths be able to tear off the Paths submenu so it remains like a panel and you can click on any of the commands of this submenu without digging through the menus again and again)

    Ok--one of the most useful keyboard shortcuts I took advantage of when I had MS Excel was the F4 button, which repeats previous command.  It worked for just about any command.

    I've found that a short AppleScript provides a convenient way to identify duplicates (repeating values) in a range.
    Just select the range of cells you want to check for duplicates and click. It will turn the duplicates red.
    --select range, run, turns duplicates red

    Just copy and paste the above script into AppleScript Editor, and run it from there. Or place it in your scripts menu. Or download this  Automator Service (Dropbox download) and double-click it to install it in your Services menu.
    Similarly, if you want to get a list of just the distinct values in a range (i.e. with duplicates removed) this Copy Distinct Automator Service (Dropbox download) is very convenient.
    Select the cells, make the menu pick, then paste the distinct values wherever you want in a table by single-clicking a cell and typing command-v to paste.
    These functions become, in essence, a customized menu.  That way you don't have to set up formulas to do this each time you work with a new Numbers document.

    Add a column to the left of column A (it will become column A).
    Assuming you want to start with the first "name" in Row 2 (and NOT number the header row):
    Two methods:
    1.
    In cell A2, enter =ROW()-1
    Grab the Fill Handle (small circle, bottom right of the selected cell) and drag down to fil the formula into the rest of the cells in the column.
    If the formula is placed in ALL non-header row cells in the column, it will automatically fill into any rows added to the table.
    If rows are inserted or removed, numbers below the inserted/removed row will be automatically adjusted.
    2.
    In cell A2, enter a 1
    In cell A3, enter a 2
    Select both cells.
    Grab the Fill Handle and drag down to the rest of the cells in the column.
    These are fixed numbers. They will not be automatically filled into new rows added to the table, nor will they automatically update when rows are inserted into the table or removed from the table.
    To add more numbers, select the last two cells currently containing numbers, drag the Fill Handle down.

    Is there anything special about your drop downs (lots of choices)?  Are the drop downs part of the selection?  You may need to select all of the fields in the section then add the drop downs to the selection by using control-click (command-click on Mac).

    You know how you can press Shift-Command-4 on a Mac and draw a rectangular selection to take a screenshot? Well on my Mac using my Magic Trackpad, I draw a selection and after a second the numbers in the bottom-right corner of the selection change.
    So, for example, 150, 250 changes to something like 1174, 623
    Has anyone else experienced this? I wonder if it is related to my Magic Trackpad or just a general bug in Mac OS X 10.6.7

    No, no, you don't quite understand.
    • I type Shift-Command-4 which gives me a crosshair pointer with co-ordinates changing by it.
    • Then I tap with 3 fingers and drag down and to the right
    • If I wait still for less than a second, the co-ordinates change
    It's hard to explain, but I haven't noticed this behaviour on other Macs.

    Copy the cell (contents), Paste onto a page of a separate document, or onto a separate sheet of your Numbers document, Print.
    Or insert a single cell table onto your Numbers document, type an = sign in the cell then click on the cell you want to print. Drag the new table to a second sheet, set up your page there, and print.

    The 5163 template has the following dimensional specs:

    Intended Use: Mailing Labels, Shipping Labels, Address Labels
    There's a great vendor site with this data readily available, better than the Avery site in my opinion. But, you can get the same info in the Contacts Print dialog pane.
    You can grab a template matching these dimensions from that vendor site, Copy the table after opening the Word Template in Pages and drop the into a blank Numbers Sheet.
    I found that Sheet side margins of 0.15" worked better than 0.18. For some reason the table wanted to flow to the next page to the right with 0.18". Turning off the Headers and Footers and setting Top and Bottom Margins to 0.5" worked well. These adjustments are made in the Sheets Inspector.
    So, that will put the template you specified into a Numbers document and you can print labels properly aligned from there. Since your problem statement is a bit lacking in detail, that's all I can offer you at this point.

    I don't find that difficult to believe. If you need the functions supported by Excel and not by Numbers, then Excel is the tool to use. OTOH, your finding of 'more flexible' translates, at least in part to 'more familiar.' All applications, Excel included, force you into certain paths.

    It's not necessary to change the Command N keystroke..
    From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
    Click:   Remove All Website Data
    Then delete the cache.
    Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
    Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
    Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
    If that didn't help, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
    From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
    If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
