How do I reset system audio?

I inadvertently okayed an install of something called Sunflower audio. Now I do not have native audio input/output. the Sunflower app has no I/O controller either.
I uninstalled it, rebooted. The app is gone, but the sunflower choices remain in my System Preferencece/Audio box, but still no native audio I/O.
At a loss. How do I rid myself of this damnable app remnant and retrieve my native I/O capability?

Try plug the headphone jack in and out of the socket couple of times.
Try Reset PRAM and SMC.

Try Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup.
I'm afraid I can't simulate your issue as I have no iRig Pro, so I would just look around in there and make sure there aren't any issues.
If that doesn't work, try making a new project in GarageBand, click Empty Project, and then the Microphone. Underneath the microphone you just clicked will be input, output, reset setting, etc. You may be able to resolve your problem by playing around with these.

If when you go to icloud.com and sign in with your current iCloud ID you see all your iCloud data there, you can safely sign out of the iCloud account on your Mac and choose Delete at all the prompts, then sign back in with the current ID. This only deletes the data from your Mac, not from iCloud. Your iCloud data will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in after a brief delay as it redownloads. If you have automatically imported your photo stream photos to your iPhoto library you won't lose them either (if you haven't, save them to your library first).
Again, only do this if when you go to icloud.com with your current ID you see your iCloud data there.

So you have business contacts that were lost... do you not have these on a Database in some shape or form? Sounds like you need to invest in a RAID1 backup setup for your computer so you dont have this issue in the future.
As for repairing your problem, sounds like you are going to need to start from scratch at this point or if the data is still on your phone look into a program that can take the information from the phone onto iTunes.

Have you yet, during setting up the new iMac, transferred old data and settings from an external hard drive or another computer? If so, then your computer obtained its current set Password from that tranfer, so you would have to determine what that Password was in the old system. If you have Not transferred any information that way, then the installation and/or setup seem to have corrupted somehow since it hasn't yet received a new system Password selection from you.
At this point, if you can, you can reboot while holding down the Command - R keys to boot into the Mountain Lion Recovery Partition. There you can select to "Reinstall Mountain Lion from the Internet". This will overwrite your current installation and any problems that have occured and give you a fresh install that hopefullywill allow you to set up without problems.

BurrWalnut mentioned, first please run a virus scan to eliminate virus infection (if AV program is not opened in adobe)
The files association could be corrupted in your situation, apart from the solution posted in the first reply, I also suggest you check Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set your Default Programs or Associate a file type or protocol
with a progra,, manually check the association and check if it can do some help.
Add: another way to open restore point is launching it in recovery console, please refer to this guide

How can I reset my web server settings to factory default without reinstalling the operating system?

I have a MacBook Air that has been upgraded over time from OS to OS. I'm currently running Yosemite.
I don't have any issues with the computer, it is running fine. Over the years, however, I've tinkered around with the server in different ways (the apache and php that shipped with OS X, MAMP, and with NGINX) and when I went to get back into some development it seems as though there's some conflicts.
What I'd love to do (assuming it is possible) is reset all of the web server's factory settings so I can just move forward from that point (Apache, PHP, MySQL, etc.).
I saw there was a terminal command for OS X Server that allows you to reset all of the server settings to how it came from the factory.
Is there a similar command that works for non-OS X Server or a utility that can restore the web server settings?

there probably is a way, but the success rate would be fairly low. you say you don't want to reinstall the OS, why? you know that reinstalling it keeps all your files and settings as they are, while resetting system files? (OS X Mavericks: Reinstall OS X)

Anyone know how to record system audio when screen recording in Lion? I've been trying to use the Quicktime Player record. I've trying to avoid spending gobs of money on a 3rd party app I'll only use rarely. Any help at all would be great.

Though the suggestion above is valid, you might not want to
use it ("Resize") as the answer because it can be tricky to use,
and because it
always results in a much larger file. I think a better way
to accomplish what you want is to create the background image you
want in your image editor, making sure it is sized as you want it,
then make that image the desktop image.
The image you create might have a vertical (height) of 500
pixels, and a horizontal (width) of 740 pixels. Of the horizontal
740 pixel size, you might use 180 pixels on the left for a TOC or
Index area, 20 pixels as a "border" area, and last, a "content"
area of 540 pixels on the far right.
Then place your recording red-rectangle around the whole
image on your desktop, with the application to be captured placed
in the 540 pixel "content" area.
This works ... I've used the concept for years ... and it
doesn't result in a bloated file, as the "Resize" operation most
certainly will. Hope this helps. I'll be happy to give you some

I have Final Cut Express for a few years but I don’t practice very often, I use it once or twice a year when I have a family project to do. I am confused with the Scratch Drive vs the Final Cut Express Document Folder (Scratch disk>F.C.E. Documents>). About 2 months ago, I start a New project. Before that, I cleared up all the previous project files and from the Preferences I trashed the com.apple FinalCutExpress Plist and from the Final Cut Express User Dater File I trashed the F.C.E. 4.0 Pref and the Ojb Cache and reset my Scratch Disk for capturing (not the startup). Now my editing is almost done. Last week I open the Scratch Drive >Final Cut Express Document Folder, I notice there is no captured files (captured materials,data or media) anywhere in the Capture Scratch, Autosave Vault,Thumbnail Cache File and the Waveform Cache File but there are files in the Audio Render File and the Render File (I suppose this Render File is the Video Render). I open the System Setting, I notice I have set the Scratch Disk for Video Capture, Video Render and Audio Render, the rest are set for Startup Disk; I went to the Startup disk, I found them all filled with something, but I have no idea where to locate my captured materials and I am not sure if these settings are correct or they should all be set to store in the Scratch Disk instead. I am all confused. Right now my questions are where to locate my captured materials (data/medias) and how do I reset the above settings if they need to be reset? I appreciate some one will take time to explain all these to me. My equipment is G4, Final Cut Express 4.0 with OX 10.5. If further info is needed, please adv.

If I understand your advice correctly, after the current project is done, I should reset the Thumbnail >Cache File and the Waveform Cache File to the Scratch Disk and leave the Autosave Vault in the >Startup Disk because it is safer.
Yup. Plus back up your Project file to another media type, CD etc. for double security.

Changing names is fine if you do this within the FCE application because FCE still knows where to find the file. If you change the name in the Scratch Disc through the Finder, FCE will loose the link.

Right click an offline clip in the Browser and select reconnect, navigate to where the clip is stored through the window that appears.

You would use the Recovery Partition to erase, and resintall the Operating System, provided you are using Lion or Mountain Lion.
Boot to it by holding don the OPTION key while booting, then select the Recovery Partition from the list of bootable partitions.

Can't Open File Explorer -- How can I reset the Quick Access Toolbar from outside of File Explorer?

First of all, this is not a virus. This is my a bug within windows explorer itself.
So, I added the properties button to the QAT, and it displayed it as an expandable menu, like this: ";" but with small arrows like this: ">". didn't want this, I wanted to click on it and immediately display the properties of the file
to me. So, I hovered over it, right-clicked on "Properties" in this menu and added it to the QAT. Of course, this crashes File Explorer. Now whenever I try and open it, it crashes, so I have to assume that the corrupted button has been saved.
So, my question is: How do I reset the QAT from OUTSIDE of file explorer? Regedit magic? Any ideas?

Thanks from me too, Niki. This first happened with Windows 8.0 File Manager a week ago,, and despite much research I couldn't discover the cause so eventually I resorted to restoring the system drive from backup (luckily I make daily backups,
so didn't lose much work).
Without knowing the cause a few days later I again tried to alter the Quick Access Toolbar and the problem reappeared. Should I again resort to restoring the entire system drive, the thought horrified me. But
luckily while doing a bit more research prior to resorting to the same drastic recovery, I cane across this post of yours and it worked!
It doesn't seem to be happening with Office 2007's or Wordpad's Quick Access Toolbar, so presumably it's a File Explorer bug (a.k.a. Windows Explorer in Windows 7, of course). Have Microsoft recorded this as
a bug -- if not, why not -- and when are they coming up with a fix?

I tried with acual method as below from client '000':
DELETE FROM USR02 CLIENT SPECIIED WHERE BNAME = 'SAP*' AND MANDT = '001'.
After this when I tried to logon '001' using SAP* with password PASS it is giving the message that Incorrect logon and password.
(Also when I checked for 'SAP*' in 001 it looks like it is not got created as I queried as below:
SELECT SINGLE * FROM USR02 CLIENT SPECIFIED WHERE BNAME = 'SAP*' AND MANDT = '001'.)

You must restart the system. So, that a new user with the name "sap*" gets generated with password "pass"
