How do I restore my junk folder?

I am not quite sure what happened, whether I accidently deleted it or what but for some reason my Junk folder has disappeared.
Any thoughts on the best way to restore it would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

@Jeffrey Jones2 - so simple when you know how. The option for filtering Junk mail in Preferences had become unticked.
I hadn't been doing anything with the setting so have no idea how that got changed.
I was further confused by 2 of the five Junk folders appearing in my own list of folders.
@Eric Root - if mine starts to disappear like that then I won't panic but check  first.
Thank you all for your contirbutions - really appreciated.

  • How do I make a junk folder to replace the one I accidently deleted?

I was having trouble with an undeletable, "ghost" e-mail in one of my junk folders, and the folder itself was uneditable. In the process of following all the advice from my Mac users group (resets, rebuilds, user library, preferences, etc.) I accidently deleted the offending folder. How do I make a new one? The junk mail folders in my other accounts are working fine, but now any junk that comes in for the deleted folder "disappears" (and it's not in my user library folder.) Weird...

Well, halleluyah, my accidently deleted junk folder is back and empty!
Once I got an unwanted email that was addressed correctly with my real mailbox name, I manually labeled it junk and then the mailbox reappeared itself. (D'uh!)
So: if anyone else has an invisible junk email in an empty junk folder that says '1' email is in there and the "rebuild" command under "mailbox" drop down menu is greyed out, here's what finally worked:
Keep a (correctly addressed) junk email in your inbox. Delete the damaged junk folder. Close Mail. Shut down. Start up. Open Mail and select the junk email in the inbox. Label it as junk by using the drop down command on the emasil header bar. Ta Da! It will make a new junk folder with the e-mail address as a name and send itself there. You can then delete the junk email..I suggest using the drop down menu or right click the mouse.to do so.
If you don't have any junk emails to save, you'll end up having to do what I did...delete the junk folder and wait for a new email that can be labeled junk.
Hope this saves someone else some grief.

  • How can I delete a junk folder I accidentally created in an IMAP email  account

I need to know if anyone knows how to delete a junk folder. I created the folder by accident in a IMAP email account.  It's empty and I don't need it .  I don't want to delete the account and re- install it. Any ideas?

I don't have my iPad set to sync that email account. So my folders are not the same as my IPad. I didn't have the junk folder till I accidentally sent a email to the junk folder and the IPad created a junk folder for that email account. Now there isn't a way to remove the folder, even though it is empty.

After initializing my new iPhone 4S and restoring my music and apps, I notice that my purchase fold is missing.  How can I restore the folder and music?

  • How do I restores my iTunes folder?

I had been using a 2" USB external drive to store all my iTunes music folder, which I over via the "Edit/Perference/Advanced/General to provide the folder, e.g. F:\iTunes.
It had been working fine for a whole year until my XP crashed. Restored C drive from backup, and reset the iTunes folder, only see 55 songs listed under the normal iTunes folder. Changes to the iTunes folder location did not take effect.
How do I refresh the folder changes? Shutdown and restart iTunes after folder change did not help.
    Thanks for any info
    Jeff

    1. close itunes
    2. drag the whole folder, which should contents both the music and some files like iTunes Library.itdb iTunes Library.xml etc, over to the external driven...
    3. make sure you either moved it, or you copied it and deleted the folder in the original location (if you want to keep itunes music in original location until you have confirmed everything is right before deleting, jump to step 5)
    4. start itunes and it will ask for to create a library or choose a library, click on choose library and use pop up finder to select the new location
    5. if you do not want to remove your original music library until you have confirmed everything is working first, simply start iTunes by pressing ALT (keyboard button) + click on iTunes icon... you will see the same pop up as step 4 asking you to either create a new library or choose an existing library, in which point you can browse to the external drive and select...
hints: you can always navigate between multiple libraries this way.

  • How can I restore a whole folder which (containing multiple albums) has disappeared - has disappeared from my iPhoto Library (using Aperture 3.5.1)?

Last time I saw the folder, it  had somehow moved inside another large folder, so I remember trying to move it back to its correct place.  Now it has vanished completely - along with all the albums and as far as I can see the events and photos to boot. Searching for some of the album titles brings up none of them.  And they're not in the trash. However, if I open the Library in iPhoto, the search button does find some of the missing photos - where Apertues found none. Why should that be?  I'm trying to restore the iPhotoLibrary from an arbitrary date a month ago in my CrashPlan database - this will take over two days. I used Time Machine to restore the Library as it was one month ago, but no dice. Does anybody have any ideas??
    Many thanks in advance!

I assume, you already checked, if the search filters in the Browser and Viewer are cleared?
Have you tried to repair or to rebuild the library?
To use the Aperture Library First Aid tools:
Press and hold the Option and Command keys as you start Aperture. The Aperture Library First Aid dialog will appear and offer the following three troubleshooting options:
Repair Permissions. Some issues in Aperture may be caused by incorrect permissions for items in the library. To correct the permissions for your library, select the option to Repair Permissions then click the Repair button. You must authenticate with a user name and password for a user account with administrative access to perform this operation.
Repair Database. Sometimes internal structures within the library may become damaged and cause unexpected behavior; you can use Repair Database to try to correct the issue. Select the option to Repair Database then click the Repair button.
Rebuild Database. For more severe issues that can't be corrected with Repair Permissions or Repair Database, you can try Rebuild Database. It is strongly recommended that you have a complete backup of your Aperture library before performing this operation, either in the form of a recently updated vault, or a Time Machine backup. Select the option to Rebuild Database then click the Rebuild button in the Aperture Library First Aid dialog.

  • How do I restore the "printing" folder in iPhoto?

When I started iPhoto I was a little quick with the delete key when trying to clean up the left side of my screen. I errantly deleted the "printing" folder (under Recent)and wish to have it back. I can only see what I'm printing in the print queue, but that's sometimes not enough information. I'd like to see what pictures I am currently printing but not able to add the function.
Any ideas short of a reinstall? (which if called for, please advise on that too!)
please know that I am not missing any photos nor did I delete any other key part of iPhoto.
    thanks!

    Super:
Open a Finder window at the root level of all your folders (Macintosh HD is what it is called originally). There you should see the Applications folder.  Drag it to the right side of the Dock.

  • How do I restore a folder after hard drive replacement?

At the end of November, I bought Panther, primarily for the Time Machine application. I installed the OS and set up Time Machine to back up my Users folder (not the entire hard drive) to an external hard drive. Last week, my internal hard disk crashed, and was replaced under the AppleCare warranty.
How do I restore my Users folder to the new hard drive? I have told Time Machine to use the external hard drive, and all the folders are on that external hard drive, but when I go into Time Machine the application doesn't recognize that anything has been backed up. On the right edge of the window, the bars don't have date labels when I scroll over them.
Online Mac help says that it is possible to restore an entire hard drive, by restarting with the disk utilities DVD. However, I don't think that would work for me, since I backed up only the Users file, not the entire internal drive.

You can not easily change the "short name" of an Account -- the name which is used for the Home folder among other things.
You CAN create a new account with the naming your want (System Preferences / Accounts) but if you are having file/folder permissions problems they may still remain due to the fact that the system actually knows accounts by numeric IDs that are made visible as the "short name".
This can be a little tricky to sort out.
One thing you might want to try is using Migration Assistant and pointing it at your Time Machine drive as source. Tell it you just want the Account (no applications or settings). It may be able to create a new account (bearing the original name) and bring your files over for you correctly. You will have to set account preferences yourself, and since you didn't save system files on your Time Machine, you will have to re-install applications from the original application install sources.

  • Restoring the events folder in fcpx

How do you restore the events folder in fcpx? Now the 'project' is only the sequence and not the project any more, if your events drive gets corrupt or stops working you'll need a way to recapture the files into the events folder exactly the same way as they were before otherwise they won't reconnect to your 'project' and you'll have lost all your work.....Please don't suggest backing it up that's just not viable in a professional environment .....
    Cheers,
    Reg.

What... 'Professionals' don't back things up? Are you insane??
Lion sorts this out by the way...
Appreciated!! I knew it was a stupid thing to say the moment I hit send!
Of course things are backed up but I'm thinking about scenarios where you're on a quick turn around award show for example, you might not have had the time to back everything up yet and you have a serious deadline. Or a job such as a concert is awaiting band approval and gets put on hold for ages and you need the drive space until it comes back in a year later, or you finish a job and a months later you need to re-edit it but the media's been deleted, or you have a fire / buglary and both copies are destroyed or lost, or the clients can only supply low quality / ungraded media on tape and you need to relink to the treated / online media later in the job. These are all things that happen and will continue to happen for some time,  besides the fact that to hold every single bit of media you ever loaded on backup for a facility is going to take a **** of a lot of space and is unnecessary and unchargeable.
I understand the archiving thing and the back up thing but what I was trying to say was that working in a professional environment you need belt and braces and the final thing to fall back on should be a small data file enabling you to recreate your event folder should you need to, as we've been able to do for good reason since electronic editing began.
"We'll use the back up... what do you mean it's corrupt?" - I just don't want to ever be in that position.
Back up is our responsibility but archiving has to be a client chargeable thing and many won't want to pay when on all other systems the small Project file allows them to re load from their masters. They also won't want hundreds of drives in their production offices!
    Just thinking ahead . . .
    Reg.

  • Have two trash folders,no junk folder on screen?

I set up a new e-mail account. Under my in box column, I have two trash folders, but no junk folder. How do I add a junk folder to folder's list ? Also how to remove one of the trash folders.
    Thanks

Thunderbird does not use a Spam folder. If your email provider does you may need to subscribe to it if you have an IMAP account.
Go to File-Subscribe and see what you see there.
