How do I run iCal 1.5 on an intel mac or fix iCal 2.0 webdav publishing?

I've been using iCal 1.5 (any version, 1.5.2, 1.5.5, etc) to publish to a zope server using webdav for a few years now. I just bought a new Mac Pro, and discovered that while iCal 2.0 still publishes using webdav, the zope server is no longer able to recognize the .ics file. (it still can perfectly with any .ics published via iCal 1.5)
If I export an iCal 2.0 calendar as an .ics file to my desktop and then manually ftp that up, the server recognizes that, so the problem lies somewhere in 2.0's webdav publishing process.
So, in short - is there a way to run iCal 1.5 on an intel mac, or to edit how iCal 2.0 publishes via webdav?
Any ideas at all would be welcome.

Hi DaddyPaycheck,
Thanks for your helpful reply.
However, I'm still wondering if the SMC reset includes all other possible resets like PRAM and NVRAM or should I still try the option + command + P + R ? In other words, is it the ultimate complete reset you can do on an Intel Mac ?
It is just to know it the right way, because since the last SMC reset I described everything is stable and fast without any trouble whatsoever, so I prefer to leave things unaltered and be sure about the procedure when needed.
Thanks in advance for replying,
Beliarus

First, your Mac model must be able to run Leopard. Second, you would have to partition your hard drive to create a second volume then install Leopard on the new volume using a Leopard installer DVD.

  • How can i run OS 9 (classic) on an intel IMAC G5 running Leopard 10.5.6

    Hi,
I run a program that requires classic, i have been running a G4 laptop on the side of my imac, but i would really like to just use my iMac as a 'one does it all' scenario. Does anyone know how i can run the Classic mode as a background to my Leopard system, ie in conjunction?
    many thanks.
    Keith

If you have an Intel iMac, you can't use Classic.
If you heve a G5 iMac, you have to install 10.4.11 or earlier on a Firewire external hard drive, or a separate partition after partitioning your hard drive for both 10.5 and 10.4.11. This article tells you if you have a G5 versus an Intel iMac:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301724
Partitioning is described here, and will erase the entire contents of your hard drive:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61301
You will also need to use the original iMac G5 install and restore discs to install Mac OS 9 on your 10.4.11 hard drive/partition following these directions:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61802
See my FAQ* on possible alternative Mac OS X compatible titles for your Mac OS 9 applications:

    You can't.
Lion does not support ANY software written for a PPC Mac.
    Time to update the software!

  • How can i run a version of Logic 7 on mac OS X 10.9.2?

    Hi.
I am running Logic Pro X on a Macbook Pro 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7 running OS X 10.9.2.
However, I have some very old but crucial Logic files from the Logic 4/5 days and need to convert them to my current version of Logic Pro X via Logic 7.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how to instal or run a version of Logic 7 on my Macbook Pro 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7 running OS X 10.9.2?
Also, does anyone know where I can find a version of Logic 7 (Pro or Express)? Otherwise, I'll look on Torrent sites.
    Hoping for good news.
    Thanks.

To find a copy of LP7 you would need to look for a copy on eBay.. However, the protection method used with LP7 no longer functions so you cannot register it and therefore you cannot use it. unless you have already registered LP7 yourself in the past using the security key dongle provided
Any version of LP7 from a torrent would be an illegal (and most likely non working) version due to the protection that was used at that time... and so posting about it here, was not be wise.
So.. thats why my previous answer was so brief... Simply put, you cannot use LP7 unless you already have a validated and registered security dongle... even if you found a copy of LP7 somewhere
The only practical solution is to find some kind soul who already has a working version of LP7 installed, that you can send the projects to... for them to do the conversion for you.
I would, but I no longer have LP7 installed here on any of my testbed Macs...

  • How do you run OS 9 on a more modern Mac (2006+)?

    Is there a way?

I have an iMac G3, but no install discs. But I do have all of the files for OS 9 including; ROM file, applications, and all of the other system files/preferences. Is there any way I could use these to some how install or boot to OS 9?
    Thanks
Probably not. Although OS 9 (and earlier) was not as sensitive to install methods as OS X is, and would rarely object when a manual install or replacement of system file(s) was done, the default install of OS 9 was a model-specific install - meaning the installer would customize the install to match the specific hardware of the machine it was installed onto, and the resulting install would usually not be capable of booting a machine with different hardware.
There was a way around this - do a Universal Install. All retail (white label) OS 9 Install CDs could perform a Universal Installation, and many original ostensibly model-specific Software Install CDs for OS 9 could do that also, if you knew to look for it.
Unless the OS 9 system files you have are either ones from a model the same as the iMac you want to use it on, or are from a Universal Install of OS 9, the set probably won't work for your purposes.
Specifically, if they were copied from the System Folder on a bootable CD (such as an OS 9 installer disk), they will not work - the System Folder on such CDs is specialized, usable only when booting from the CD.
But I do have all of the files for OS 9 including ... all of the other system files/preferences.
If you mean you have a complete System Folder, in OS 9 that can be copied as a whole (via drag-n-drop) and remain usable; no need to copy it in pieces. Such a copied System Folder should work fine, provided it is compatible with the iMac G3.
Note, though, that this copying should be done using a machine booted to OS 9 in order to preserve the integrity of the files; even OS X does not always preserve File Type and Creator codes.

I downloaded the Canon LPB6000 driver from the link below and installed it using the included documentation. in the "adding the Printer to the Printer List" step, there should be a "More Printer" button in the "Printer and Fax" in "System Prefrences" to add the printer name and driver and consequently complete the installation but actualy there isn't any "More Printer" button. Please help me out...!

  • How can I enable 16 outs from Logic with Intel Mac Pro?

    Hi everyone,
I am a bit new to the digital output world! I have a Digi002 with Logic 7 and I have a Behringer A/D converter box to recieve digital output using optical cable. My question is this: I can only see 8 normal stereo outputs plus additional 9-10 output. Is there a command in Logic (as per the old "enable 16 in/outs in 5.5)to allow the greyed out extra outputs to work? or I am being very stupid and not enabling some command on the Mac?
I thank you all in advance for any kind responses!

I see you're using a Behringer A/D converter. I had one of these once. It made a lot of noise: crackling, pops etc. I know that was the cause as they only happened on those 8 tracks.
I may have had a lemon, but if you get similar problems, (and I hope you don't) I have changed to the Alesis AI3 and now have no problems, it might be worth you making a mental note.

  • Getting  ARD 2.2 to launch/run on intel mac

Ive seen some posting on how to run ard 2.2 on a intel mac which suggest the following:
    uninstall ARD
    remove client software(RemoteManagement folder)
    install ARD
    upgrade using ard admim upgrader
but when i open ard it says it had to install some necessary components and does sucessfully then just up and quits...any workaround would be helpful-
    thx

    Hope you have a backup.
Reinstalling OS X should not have any effect on applications or user data.
Erase and Install will wipe out the disk clean.
Safari and Mail should not be deleted.
    Best.

  • Anyone figured out how to run iCal completely invisible?

Has anyone figured out how to run iCal completely invisible on Snow Leopard -- not just minimized on the dock, but completely hidden.  The goal is to be able to press Comamnd+Tab and NOT see iCal.

I too have a KRZR K1M that I received two days ago as a "gift' from Verizon in exchange for renewing my contract for 2 years. I had a RAZR that I had been able to sync with iCal after I edited the metaclass.plist file for that phone. I would then have to delete and re-add the RAZR each time I resynched in order to select the option I wanted from the iSync dialog window. If I "merge[d] data," the calendars on both my mac and my phone would fill quickly with duplicate entries. As for the KRZR, i have tried several times to add and sync this phone to the mac. It worked only once, and I was able to get the mac to write a years worth of events into the phone, but no matter what i do, i have not been able to repeat the process for my ical events. I use the VZW backup assistant for my contacts, just to be safe. I would like very much for Verizon and Apple to get together on the iSync issue. Verizon tech support told me only moments ago that the only phone they offer that will sunc with iCal is either a Treo or a Blackberry. And they aren't handing out either of them for free any time soon.

    4mccarthys,
If you are certain that iCal is no longer present on your computer...
    To reinstall iCal:
    1. Insert the Leopard Installation disk into the computer.
    2. The disk will appear on the desktop.
    3. Double click on the "Optional Installs" folder.
    4. Double click on the "Optional Installs.mpkg."
    5. Click on (Continue) in Introduction.
    6. Click on (Continue) in Software License Agreement.
    7. Click on (Agree) to agree to the terms of the software license agreement.
    8. Click on the disclosure arrow ▶ next to Applications.
    9. Select (✓) iCal.
    10. Click (Continue).
    11. After iCal has been reinstalled, download and install the Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update to bring iCal up to the most recent version.

  • How do I sync iCal on my mac with OS 8 devices

How do I sync iCal on my mac with OS 8 devices

    Hi jgiolma,
Since you do not mention what version of the Mac operating system you are running on your MacBook Pro it is a little hard to answer your question. For computers running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 or later one way to sync your calendars would be to use iCloud. See this article for minimum system requirements for iCloud -
    System requirements for iCloud
Information on using iCloud for your calendars can be found here -

iCloud: Using iCloud Calendars with Calendar and iCal

  • How can I sync ical To Do Tasks? About time?

any ideas on How can I sync ical To Do Tasks? ideally I'd like to sync to my ipad too
I currently have Outlook 2011 syncing its tasks to ical nicely, just now need to put them onto my iphone then it would be perfect!
I'm guessing there might be some apps that do this, but would love some suggestions if anyone has any?
    thanks in advance?

Unfortunately this is far from easy. It used to be possible with MobileMe, but the process requires a CalDAV server, which very few website hosting services are.
The first step is that you can't do this with an iCloud calendar: it has to be listed under 'On My Mac'. Control-click the calendar and choose 'Publish'. Set 'publish on' to 'A private server' (I'm looking at this on Snow Leopard, where the default is 'MobileMe', which obviously won't work - I don't know if Mountain Lion is different). What I see is this:
You will want to check 'Publish changes automatically'.
Unfortunately it now gets difficult. If you publish to an ordinary website hosting server, all you will get is a text file. MobileMe had the facility to take the published file and turn it into a structured web page. I'm afraid you may have a lot of difficulty in finding a server to do this - I did see a reference to one which claimed to be able to do this, but people were complaining that it didn't work and unfortunately I can't remember the name. iCal's instructions rather assume that you will be running your own server, which I would assume you don't want to get into - I wouldn't.
The easier alternative is to publish publicly from an iCloud calendar - please see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mm6b1a9479 and expand 'Share a public calendar' - but recipients will need a CalDAV client to open it: iCal is of course one, and Google Calendars another (though I've seen complaints of it being flaky).
