How do I set up a merged clip?

Hello I've got a ebook of Premier Pro CC 2014 .And here is the thing that I can't undestand
What dose it mean "select the camera clip"? There is know option like that. And even I folow by instruction and choose some clip,
I do the right click, as describe  in a page 85, so I can't find any option of "Merge Clips"..Where is it ,please? I'm almost lost my mind, you know.
Thank you very much.

How Can I set my speed of clip to 0%?
    I can't do that. A minimum value is: 1.00

So I HAVE TO do this in that specific way? I can't normally set a "0%" value of speed curve?

But how I have to do a frame hold if I can't set speed of one frame to 0%

What a rubbish did you say? I am in Time remapping freeze menu and IN THIS MENU we can't set a value to 0%. A value: 1.00% is a minimum.
You have to miss a screen what I paste before, so specially for you (there is even a red box):

  • How do I set up mail merge to print envelopes

I want to be able to make a data of my address' so I can print envelopes without retyping every address every month.  Would I be doing a mail merge in numbers or pages and if so how.

Using Pages '09 and Numbers '09, I have done this, and it worked pretty well, but it really involves a fair amount of work to duplicate the envelope printing function that is already built in to the Address Book (or Contacts in newer versions).

  • How can I set keyframes on a clip segment? (FCP 7)

    Hello!
I am trying to set keyframes on a segment of a clip using the pen tool on time line. When I set the first keyframe, one also appears at the start of the clip and when I set the second keyframe, another appears at the end of the clip? There is a thin blue horizontal line the full length of the clip. Whatever speed change I make on the dialogue box, overrides the segment settings. I have already carried out this successfully on a different clip.
    Regards,
    DG

I gather you're adding speed keyframes. That's the way the application works. Because variable speed changes effect the entire media, not just the marked In and Out in the timeline, keyframes are added at the beginning and end of the clip. The blue line in the Clip Keyframe graph is correct. It indicates a motion keyframe has been applied. Speed is a motion keyframe.
What dialog box are you using? Speed segment changes are made in the timeline from the shortcut menu. Select Change Speed Segment.

  • Why can't merged clips be exported to XML?

I merged my files from a double system shoot (with a Red camera and separate audio) - only to find that you can't then color correct outside of Premiere. I will grant I should have read the bottom of the merged file page which clearly states that you can't export an XML file with merged files but WHY?????????????? How do merged files benefit you if in the end you can't export to DaVinci for color correction? And from what I have found there are no work arounds. I tried to replace with original source video but the timecode of the merged file no longer matches that of the original source audio so I can't without resyncing and re-editing the whole thing - and our sound mixer has already done a significant amount of work on an OMF of the current project. And of course once I import that OMF and sync it to the video - I can't change the video because then I could have significant issues with the audio. I currently work in CS5.5 and would happily pay for an upgrade to Cloud if it solved this problem but from everything I have read it does not... it seems like a huge issue. I would rather not have the merged files function than have it lead me astray in this fashion.
If anyone has found a solution let me know. Otherwise I was going to have the original source files color corrected by our colorist and link those to the project (luckily there aren't really internal clip issues and it's a short so it's only 28 clips total)?
    Any solutions greatly appreciated

Title changed by moderator to make it descriptive of the issue/question--but mostly eliminate the all-caps. Shouting doesn't help

Ah yes -- well very holistic approach I suppose... but considering my question "how to export a project with merged clips to an XML file?" - this doesn't actually answer that question. It is a work around. But one that requires me to find and hire another colorist (and let's be honest a large portion of the post-production community works with Resolve) and I don't think I am being unreasonable for expecting Adobe to have considered the possibility of this work flow (editing a project in Premiere and then moving to a commonly used platform such as Davinci Resolve to color correct). Or yes I could learn SpeedGrade but if I had the time to color correct the project myself we wouldn't be hiring someone else to get the project completed in a timely manner... so yeah it's a work around that doesn't really work. I am hoping having the original source video color corrected will make it all work - and I will NEVER used the Merged Clip feature in Premiere ever again. And wish there was some way for me to warn others against falling victim to its charms as well.

  • CC 7.2: out of sync indicator on merged clips - possible to hide / set?

With the CC 7.2 update, existing projects have turned into a mess of out-of-sync indicators on merged clips (DSLR video with separate audio sources, synced using PluralEyes). In previous versions, Premiere apparently accepted, or ignored, merged clips for sync indicator purposes, but now it seems to have decided to assume that the "synced" state is when audio and video start at the exact same time. Since the audio source is external, clicking the indicator to bring "into sync" obviously has the opposite effect.
For now, we've been reduced to the workaround of using the Ctrl-F12 command console and setting debug option TL.Don'tDrawSyncIndicators to True, which gets rid of the visual clutter. Of course, that means that sync indicators everywhere are gone, including where they would have been useful.
I'm sure all of this works fine with newly synchronized merged clips, or maybe even clips previously merged by Premiere, but that's not going to work for 27 hours of synced footage and a 90-minute rough edit...
So, am I missing something very obvious here? Is there some way to have merged clips be ignored by Premiere, as they used to be? Or even better, to "set" a merged clip as being synced and actually registering sync shifts in respect of the correctly synced position?

Strike those last comments of mine, I think I've figured out the fundamental issue and it seems to be a clear bug. It's actually completely unrelated to PluralEyes, but here's how I figured it out:
PluralEyes creates linked, but not merged, synced clips on a timeline. To add those synced clips to a bin, you will need create merged clips. Problem is, Premiere will always consider a merged clip from such a clip to be "out of sync" if there was any trimmed audio preceding the start of the video. And trimming audio preceding video is precisely what PluralEyes does by default.
It turns out the sync indicator problem does not occur:
    - If video started rolling before audio (PluralEyes never automatically trims video); or
    - If the trimmed audio is manually restored using the selection tool on the timeline prior to creating the merged clip.
Basically, trimming an audio clip prior to using it as part of a merged clip, causes Premiere to interpret the merged clip as having been "created out of sync". It's as if it's interpreting the trimming of the audio as a shift in the start of the audio. This is obviously not right, and it didn't happen prior to CC 7.2
The issue can be reproduced at will by taking any random video and audio clip, regardless of sync, shortening the audio clip at the beginning and then creating a merged clip. Adding the new merged clip to a timeline will lead to it appearing to be "out of sync".
There's a relatively simple workaround on new projects: undo (or disable, not sure if this is possible) the automatic trimming of audio clips in PluralEyes and don't trim audio prior to creating merged clips. Unfortunately, this is no solution for the current project, especially given the many limitations Premiere still has when dealing with merged clips.

  • How do I get my merged clips to reconnect with their audio?

I am on FCP 7 syncing audio and video with ProRes 4444 @ 23.98. I am merging clips into bins labeled according to their scene. Pretty straight forward.
We then decided to go to ProRes 422 proxy to edit on a smaller faster drive at a lower cost. I transcoded the footage to 422 proxy with MPEG Streamclip same frame rate, same dimensions 1920x1080.
Next I go to relink the footage. Audio relinks and gives me this message: (Keep in mind these are copy and pasted files on the new hard drive).
"Some attributes of one or more of the files you have chosen do not match the attributes of the original.... The attributes that differed are as follows:
    - Media start and end
Would you like to try to reconnect them again?"
Video relinks and gives me the same message, but adds "reel" as another attribute.
I've seen these messages before and nothing has come of it so I didn't think anything of it at first. Checking all the individual audio and video clips. Everything is playing fine.
THEN I go to play my merged clips... no audio!? Double click a merged clip in the browser, clip plays in the viewer but NO AUDIO. Right click on the merged clip file, select Item Properties and format. It is recognizing the correct audio clip that should be playing in the info there. I drag the clip into the timeline and I can see the shadow of the audio and video clip but when I let go in the timeline only the video appears.
How can this be?? What am I missing??
I would be so grateful for any ideas you might have!

What happens if you control click on the audio clip in the timeline and choose "reveal in finder?"

  • How do I edit a merged clip in Audition, that was created in premiere to correct the synchronisation, and have it all updated to the premiere clip?

    Hello,
How do I edit a merged clip in Audition, that was created in premiere to correct the synchronisation, and have it all updated to the premiere clip?
I have tried several tutorials but these either:
    - show correction in premiere sequence (which is not practical; given the huge number of files we have)
    - or show the editing in audition of a sequence, not the clip.
We have started merging audio and video (removing the original audio during merge) but some of the merged clips are out of sync, so we need to correct manually, BUT we want to correct the merged clip, which may or may not end up being used, so we do not want to take it to the sequence as all we are doing is prepare the synced files for editing.
Any idea how I can correct the synchronisation in Audition?, when I right click on clip and select "Edit in Adobe Audition" I get a list of files but not a multitrack session where I can see my video and audio tracks.

if premiere pro doesn't sync your footage properly, and you have a huge number of files, you may want to look at pluraleyes.  there is a demo, and if it works properly, it would save you time to have it done right the first time, instead of tracking down random merged clips with bad sync.
premiere will either export a complete sequence or "edit clip in audition". the edit clip will create a copy of the original audio and open that in audition. there is no dynamic link, its just an audio file open in two programs at the same time.  since there is no dynamic link, its not possible to bring merged clips into audition.
Adobe Premiere Pro Help | Synchronizing audio and video with Merge Clips
Once created, the merged clip cannot be re-synchronized, or adjusted. You must make a new merged clip.
Merged clip audio results in mono track audio only.Final Cut Pro XML and AAF interchange formats are not supported.
this doesn't give me much hope that audition or any other adobe program outside of premiere will help you fix the problem merged clips.

  • Merging Clips - how to keep 50fps

I have 2 quicktime-clips, both 50fps, same bandwith-rate and size. When I put them together in Quicktime and export the output changes to a lower as 50 fps.

That usually depends on what specific "QT" app and option your are using in your work flow and how you plan to view the merged content. Even the word "export" can have different meanings in some apps.
It sounds to me as if you would actually prefer a "Save As..." work flow here. Would normally recommend use of the older, easier (and free) MPEG Streamclip app. If you have this app installed and if the files to be merged are named using a playback alpha-numeric sequence (e.g., file_1, file_2, file_3, etc.), then just drag and drop all files simultaneously to the MPEG Streamclip window and thelect the "Save As..." option. This work flow will save the merged data in its opriginal compression format to the new standalone file container. This method works for most QT players but can create a problem with certain mobile devices (iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad, TV, etc.) using player version that expect/demand the merged data be stored to "flattened" audio and/or video track streams. (I.e. "Save As..." actions can place the data on multiple audio and/or video tracks.)
As to frame rates, are you referring to the encoded frame rates or the "realtime" frame rates seen during playback? Playback frame rates typically vary during playback and this is normal. In addition, depending on the file content and system workload, the player may also skip frames during playnack as the play may see fit. This too is normal. In the case of merged data, file stats can also change dependent on the individual segments merged since these stat are "total average" stats for the combilned file. A "Save As..." work flow should retain the original frame rate if all merged segments have the same frame rate but an "exported" workflow may change the frame frate. In some cases, the frame rate is "fixed" by the specific codec being used. In other cases, it may be limited by the specific work flow. (E.g., the frame rate of a screen capture varies with the system's work load and CPU limitations.) In still other cases, the frame rate is controlled by the user depending on the codec and/or application being used. QT X, for instance, employs export presets which may optimize the output using an altered frame rate while exports from QT 7 Pro and MPEG Streamclip may allow certain codecs to use the "current" frame rate (which can vary from segment to segment depending on the original segment frame rate) or be fixed at a specific frame selected by the user. For instance, a QT 7 Pro H.264 video export would have the following options...
While the same option in MPEG Streamclip simply has a box into which you to can enter a custom frame rate if you don't want the application to automatically control the frame rate.
As you can see there are many answers to your seemingly simple question.

  • How do I set the length of each clip?

I have just begun trying to build a video with Premiere Elements 10
I have created many videos with Windows Movie Maker..found it boring for Effects etc.that's why I have this new software.
Now my question is ..How do I  set the time for each clip?
I like to add a clip that goes with each lyric in the song.
    Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum.
As Steve points out, that is "editing."
One can use either of two Tools in PrE, to Trim the Clip to suit.
First, one can Dbl-click on the Clip in the Project Panel to open it in the Source Monitor, which looks a bit like the Program Monitor, but it has the In & Out Point settings. When that Clip has been Trimmed, as needed in the Source Monitor, just drag it to the Timeline.
Or, one can drag the Clip to the Timeline, and then click+drag on the Head of the Clip to set its In Point, and on the Tail, to set the Out Point.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

You can neither merge or delete them. Pick one and stop using the other. If they both have purchases associated with them you will have to keep using both.

I can not open a video movie clip, the system ask for a codec, how can a set up automatlicly?

The problem was resolved a small manipulation - on stage Basic Configuration,
    point 3 "Configure CA Introscope"
I forgot to add to the list of CA Introscope Enterprise Managers link to my manager.
Thus it is necessary to take into account that the path should be correct (usually for linux - /usr/sap/ccms/apmintroscope) and the directory should be applied appropriate privileges.
Then in paragraph "Byte Code Adapter Installation" - there are all the necessary data, and it starts to work correctly

  • How do I make sure that CS5.5 Merge clips encodes Audio at correct volume?

    Windows 7 x 64, 2 TB, 12 GB RAM,
I am using the Premiere Pro CS5.5 Trial (full version), particularly because of the new Merge clips feature.
The Merge clips works intuitively and easily; this is a fantastic advantage. I am creating these clips to use in Captivate 5.0.
But, when encoded, the Audio volume has blown out so that it shatters the ear drums.
I am not sure whether this is a PP problem, or an AME 5.5 problem.
A second problem is this with the Merge Clips. In the Project panel, if you check the Duration of a Merge clip (in PP) it shows the original duration even although it has been altered on the Timeline.
If I encode the video clip separately from the Audio,  I can adjust the Audio volume in Captivate, but, this:
    1) increases the overall file sizes-something I don't want for the web.
    2) the video duration and the audio duration do not match, even though they did on the Timeline. This did not happen in CS5.
I know this is a new version, but has anyone any ideas that I might try. I have alread delayed my project waiting for CS5.5 to become available.

Sounds like Media Encoder is actually recording the audio as a stereo file but the audio is panned to one side.
Check that you haven't accidentally panned the audio in the mixer to one side.

  • How to set up a Video clip library?

Is there a simple way of setting up a video clip library for example along the lines of Aperture's still photograph library? Aperture uses a system of folders, projects and albums that provides a framework for classifying and storing pictures together with metadata and brief written descriptions. Video clips would need to be accompanied by a thumbnail and time code data.

There are also FootTrack and iDive. While they are not as sophisticated as CatDV, they also do not cost as much.
