How do I set up voicemail for the first time?

I feel like i am losing my mind.  I CANNOT find simple instructions (even in the manual) on how to set up my husband's voicemail on the BB 8800.  There are all kinds of questions and answers about voicemail, but I just need to know how to set it up for the first time.  The message you get when you call the phone is "This user has not yet set up voicemail" (or something to that effect).
PLEASE HELP!
Solved!
Go to Solution.

This is simple in deed! Go to Call Log -> click Menu and  select Options -> Voice Mail. Now in the Access Number put your carriers Voice Mail Box number. Some carrier requires access password which you can also put in the.
Let know if this helps.

Go to Settings>General>Passcode Lock>tap Turn Passcode Lock Off, enter your "pin".
Edit:  Are you saying you are getting a prompt for your email pin, or are you talking about the passcode lock that appears when you turn the phone on?

Will I require internet connection to set up iPodShuffle for the first time (Windows)?

I don't think so. THe only thing you need internet for is to download the free VoiceOver feature, and that's optional.

I have set up icloud for the first time on iphone 4 and its still says downloading after 12 hours.  Is this right?

I think you may not using the right technical terms.  When backing up to icloud, there is no way you'd get a message saying things will be wiped.  This message may be displayed when you are performing a RESTORE from a backup and then trying to cancel it.
If you are doing a restore, then you can reboot and restore again.

  • Setting up Mail for the first time with OSX Server 10.5.6

I just got done reading the 100+ page mail services administration manual. A few things are unclear and I wanted to clear those up prior to embarking on my first adventure configuring mail services.
The questions I have are the following:
    1. When using mail for incoming and outgoing, do I 'have' to use local DNS services or can I simply change the MX records by my DNS Provider?
    2. I have more than one IP on the server using the 'IP Alias' command. Will the mail server be able to distinguish the different mail domains base on IP Address, or will virtual domains need to be configured?
    3. If virtual domains need to be configured, is this configuration simple or is it semi complex?
    4. Provided the answer to questions two and three, what is the best configuration for the firewall settings on the server? Allow IMAP inbound, POP3, and SMTP? What else?
    Thanks in advance

    1. Mail service relies heavily on DNS. You may run your own DNS servers on the same network as your mail server or you can use a DNS provider to host your zone data including your MX record.
    2. Your server will listen on all available network devices by default. It will only accept those messages for the hosts that are listed in the general pane, the local host list, or the virtual domain list under the advanced pane. No virtual domains need to be configured if all users are real users (i.e. shows up in WorkGroup Manager).
    3. As stated in (2), you do not need virtual domains to receive e-mail for multiple hostnames or domain names, but you may want to do so if you want separate accounts with same usernames for different domains. E.g. [email protected] and [email protected] will go to two separate inboxes. It's not that difficult, but rather tedious if you already have a lot of e-mail accounts set up.
    4. You must allow SMTP through the firewall to receive mail from the outside world. Depending on your clients, you may open IMAP or POP. There are no other specific ports necessary for mail to work at this level... except for Submission (587). Many ISP's block port 25 for mail clients. You may want to use port 587 for submissions so that your mobile users don't have to switch back and forth between the two ports when they change locations. This is done by editing /etc/imapd.conf manually.

  • Setting up HTTP for the first time...

    Hey All,
My site can be viewed from inside our district. When I get home I just get errors when going to the site.
I know I'm close, just can't seem to find the right settings.
    XServe 10.4.10
    Thanks!

As a very general rule of IP networking, one IP address is assigned to one IP host only. (In more involved configurations, the IP address can potentially float within certain multi-host configurations, with one host "hot" at any moment, but the other hosts are intended to be replicates. And that's not the case here.)
There are technically ways to get where you want, where some software or some device sniffs the http headers. This can be an Apache reverse-proxy. Which also means that you have a primary web server and a secondary, and if the primary (the reverse proxy) is down the secondary is also down. Or you can use a web proxy appliance devices. These approaches can and do work, but they require either expense (for the http appliance) or configuration and software complexity. (My general preference is to keep it simple, and only bring out the power tools and the IP and Apache arcana when I really need to.) I'd tend to recommend against both the Apache reverse proxy or spending money on the appliance.
Given what I'm reading in this thread, I'd suggest using two static addresses, two sets of port-forwards, and use two hosts and two web servers. Two DNS entries. www.example.com and myhappyplace.example.com can be set up in DNS, for instance, for each of the two parallel hosts. It's simple, and it works, and it's easy to manage and easy to explain.
Or better, should you need two domains that appear separate, I'd suggest the use one public static IP address and one port forward and one host and one web server, and multiple virtual domains. Two virtual domains means two sets of web directories, and security access controls can be set up for two different groups of web authors (via ACLs, for instance). On the same host.
With more IP hosts and more web servers, you're opening up the crack in the firewall wider. More hosts is more exposure and more maintenance and more upkeep. No DMZ can be more exposure, should your hosts be breached. Should one or both of your hosts become "moderately compromised", your district can end up blacklisted in the spam databases, which means your district is tossed off the Internet for email. (There have been folks here in the discussions over the past month or two that have had weaknesses in their web servers exploited for spamming. Given the variety of web servers I see listed in my Apache logs, they're very far from alone in being compromised.) Were a server breach to arise, even your legitimate outbound mail for your district could get dropped by the recipients, should your domain end up compromised and found to be launching spam runs. (qv: various "Help, I've been hacked" threads here.)
Mistakes here will get the district and the district superintendent's attention Right Fast. Most admin folks are attached to their email, and can get cranky -- mail withdrawal syndrome? -- when their domain gets blacklisted.

i was wondering when i first connect my ipod to my mac i should register it?
am i obliged to make an iTunes store? (caz i dont have on , and i dont want to make one)

You register it through the ITunes store, and yes you should register it. As far as not opening an ITunes store account, then why buy the Ipod Touch. Everything flows from the store, applications, music, etc.

  • Setting up a Time Capsule for the first time and replacing it with an existing Router

    Hey there,
I have got a new TC which I will be setting it up for the first time. I have a very old beetle router. I would be using the TC as a wireless hard drive and also as my WiFi Router. After reading the setup guide, I am confused about which option to choose. Moreover, available references on the internet do not provide any clear-cut solution.
My basic aim is to replace my router with the TC and use its in-built WiFi hardware. Since I have an EPSON printer which is connected to my router wirelessly, I am not willing to change its settings. Please guide me which option to choose regarding the same.
    Thanks in advance

Since you have a modem/router, you must continue to use the Beetel modem/router on your network.
The Time Capsule can connect to the Beetel modem/router using a wired Ethernet cable connection and produce a separate wireless network.  You would NOT want the Beetel router and Time Capsule to both try to produce the same wireless network if they are located close together, since this will likely create interference problems that may prevent devices from connecting to either the Beetel orTime Capsule wireless network.
The exception to having the Beetel modem/router and Time Capsule produce the same wireless network would be if you can locate the Time Capsule at least a room or two away from the Beetel modem/router.  An Ethernet cable can be run up to 300+ feet or about 100 meters with no signal loss, so you should be able to locate the Time Capsule anywhere you want.
Are you able to consider this option?
Another option.....if you cannot locate the Time Capsule in another room......would be to configure the Time Capsule to use the same wireless network name and password as the Beetel network and turn off the wireless on Bettel modem/router.
Important.....there is no guarantee that the printer will be able to connect to the Time Capsule wireless network, so you should expect to start over and set up the printer again.
Yet another option would be to turn off the wireless service on the Time Capsule and use the Beetel wireless to back up your computers to the Time Capsule, which will act as a wired hard drive for the network. If you select this option, the Time Capsule can be located close to the Beetel modem/router.

    Meredith199,
does your MacBook Pro have an Eject key (⏏) in the top-right corner of the keyboard? If so, does pressing Control-⏏ show a restart/sleep/shutdown dialog box?
If you press Shift-⌘Q, does your MacBook Pro recognize that as an attempt to log out?

  • Backup up an old iphone for the first time ever...

I'm helping a friend transfer data (over 1,000 photos and some notes)  from her old iPhone to a new one. When connecting to iTunes for the first time with the old phone, it wants to set everything up for the first time and I'm afraid it will erase everything BEFORE we get a chance to back it up.
Are my assumptions incorrect? How do we avoid losing her data and get a sucessful first-time back up? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.... THANKS!

    Yes.

  • Bank Reconcilation for the first time.

    Hi,
I need help on how to do a bank reconciliation for the first time.  The bank statement has some transactions which happened on the old system now when we tried to reconcile the total does not match to the bank statement. How can we get it to reconcile we cannot make once sided entry.
    Thank you

Hi Ghanbary, if we think logicially, the bank statement has transactions that occurred before you cut over to B1. So the question is do those transactions belong to Customers and Vendors such as receivable or payables, or were they expense and revenue deposits or owners withdrawing and depositing funds etc?
An Example : If the transactions are A/R and A/P related, you do not have actual transactions in B1?
    Obviously you have following possibilities:
    1. Import open transactions using DTW? Perhaps not a good idea that should have been done earlier.
    2. Question is did you transfer your customer/vendor opening balances? If so, you can match above bank external reconciliation with respective BP. You can use ProcessExternalBanking function in Banking module against BP.
    3. Above matching of external bank account can also be done against G/L account, provided you transferred opening balances of G/L accounts such as Receivable/Payable
In general you can balance external bank credit/debit with G/L debit/Credit but you have to know logically what is the transaction from Bank, do we have an open balance entry in G/L.  If not you will have to create some temporary g/l account and add amount to it with a comment, saying from previous system of something like that. Then balance it against bank's external account.
There are many approaches to handle this. You should talk to your accountant what best practice he suggests from the point of view of management reports and even taxation reports or investor reports. As a systems guy you can not arbitrarily decide that.
It is best to create and match balance sheet in new system against the old system and make sure they match before starting new transactions on new B1 platform.
