How do I share a slideshow?

How do I share a slideshow with someone?

The Desktop is the Finder.
How are you sending it? By email?
Video files are huge. They are not suited to sending via email. Most email services have a limit of 20MB on the size of an email, some are oly 10mb
Upload the video to a sharing site - YouTube, Vimeo, YouSendit whatever - and send a link to the recipient. They can then download the file for themselves.

How can i share a slideshow containing @ 200 pictures and music with 8 friends? can i email it to them?

Export it to the Desktop using the File -> Export commad. This makes a movie of it and you can then share that.
I would caution you that as movie files are very large you might be best uploading to a sharing site or service like Dropbox and sending them a link

  • How do I share a slideshow (with music)?

I created a slideshow in iPhoto and would like to share it with friends using my .Mac
I can export my slideshow to a movie...but guess what, then iMovie doesn't recognize the .mov extension (amazing). I thought I could then use iMovie to post it on my .Mac Web Gallery.
I didn't want to put it on my .mac website cause I didn't know how to protect it so only certain people would be able to see it - that is why I thought I could do it using Web Gallery.
    I'm stuck !
    Any help would be appreciated

    Clark:
There are a couple of ways to publish the movie and have restricted viewing.
1 - export the slideshow as a QT movie and import back into iPhoto. Create an iPhoto web gallery with that movie file and set the gallery to require a user name and password for viewing. That's done in the Settings pane via the Settings button.
2 - upload the QT movie file to your public folder and assign a user name and password for that .Mac folder. Users with the password could then enter the Public folder and download the file to play.
3 - create a iWeb site with a movie page, drag the movie into the page, set a password and user name for the site and publish to .Mac.
You can also select to hide that gallery from other galleries you might have. Then the only access would be thru the viewer having received the URL from you as well as the user name and password.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How to share a slideshow?

Whats the Apple way to share a slideshow using Photos app? I can export it to a file as well as importing it to iTunes.
But how can I share to others? Is it necessary to import it back to Photos (and using lots of unnecessary space in iCloud) to share via iCloud or do I need to upload to a video platform or is there an Apple way to do? With iPhoto on iPhone there were a way with journals, but no more.
    Thanks!

Upload it to a sharing site like YouTube or Vimeo and email a link - these will allow the recipient to view the material online. That will avoid the codec issues, and the person can still download the video file if they wish.
Upload it to sharing services like Dropbox or YouSendIt and email a link. This will require that they download the material to their machines to view.

  • How do I share a an iphoto slideshow on facebook. Have shared photos but it's not letting me share my slideshow.

How do I share an iphoto slideshow on facebook?

I believe I explained how to share on Facebook above. I don't believe that YouTube has the ability to "suck" anything, though sometimes Users upload to the wrong site. As to the music, I would simply point out that broadcasting music purchased from iTunes on the internet exceeds the licence you have. I would expect that this may cause Facebook to reject your project, but good luck with it.

How can I share a photo slideshow?

You turn on Photo Stream in iPhoto's Photo Stream preference pane:
Check the box "Automatic Upload" to add every photo imported into the library to the Photo Stream.  Or leave it unchecked and manually add just selected photos to the stream by dragging them onto the Photo Stream heading in the left hand pane.

I have a MobileMe account and have shared many MobileMe Galleries.  MobileMe Galleries are going away in June.  How can I share a photo album with others using iCloud?

The new ios version of iPhoto allows sharing.  Here's a blurb from Apple's web site:
There’s the old way of creating photo galleries, then there’s the iPhoto way. Select a group of photos and iPhoto automatically flows them into a beautiful journal that’s fun to personalize and share online. Touch a photo to make it bigger or smaller. Or drag it to a different spot on the screen. iPhoto adjusts the page around whatever you’re doing, so your journal always looks great. You can even add captions, maps, dates, and weather — giving family and friends the big picture at a glance.
    More things you can do:
With iPhoto, there’s more than one way to share a photo. Post pictures directly to Facebook, Flickr, or Twitter. Play an impromptu slideshow on your iPad or iPhone. Or stream photos to your HDTV to give your big moments room to shine.
I have not used ios version of iPhoto to share "journals" and I'm not sure this is part of iCloud or not.  You'll have to do a google search on "ios iphoto" and read up of this journal thing.  As far as I know, this is the only way of sharing photos.  I'm not sure whether other friends use a browser to view these journals or whether they need something special.  Any way - search around to find answers.

  • How do I upload a slideshow to a website

How do I upload a slideshow to a website?

If you use Share >> On-line Album it’s possible to use one of the templates and save to your hard drive.
You can then upload the resources folder using FTP and link to the index.html file.
FTP allows you to drag and drop to your website. If you don’t have and FTP application you can Google to find one. I use Cute FTP which is very good.
Alternatively if you are located in Europe you can use Adobe’s Photoshop showcase or Photoshop.com in the US.

  • How do I share a slidshow with firends?

I would like to share a slideshow complete with sound with friends. Some have windows computers and some do not. I know how to do it for MAC people but not for the windows people. Is there a way???

macmuse, now try it again using a song you bought from itunes. If you are using the newest release of iTunes you will not hear the audio part on computers unless they have your iTune authorization. This whole thing is absurd. If someone was going to rip off a song the last place they would go is to some home made amature slide show. This overkill copy protection defeats the whole multimedia concept.
Does anyone have an easy work around?

  • How to send wide-screen slideshow to iDVD?

    Hi there,
is there a way to create a wide-screen slideshow in iPhoto and send it unaltered to iDVD? Whatever I try, it stubbornly wants to reformat the slideshow with a 4/3 aspect ratio.
Any hints would be very much appreciated, and yes, I do have Photo2Movie, but I'm interested whether it's possible from iPhoto
    Cheers Martin

    Martin:
How are you creating the slideshow in iPhoto? Did you crop the photos to the 16:9 ratio before creating the slideshow? That's what I did and then did the Share to iDVD. I made sure I had a widescreen theme and that iDVD was set to widescreen under the Project menu.
    Do you Twango?

  • How do you share thousands of pictures with text and captions outside of PSE?  (PSE 4)

One of my dad’s retirement passions is family genealogy and old family pictures.  Several years ago I gave my family PSE 4.0 for Christmas so that we could each have backup copies of our dad’s pictures.  Usually once per year, I made backup copies of everything and emailed the DVDs to my brothers and sisters.  Everyone knows the basic PSE 4 functions and share our dad's enjoyment with the old family photos.
My problem is that my dad is running out of pictures to scan.  He wants to “share” or “show” his photos with others so that he can “borrow” their photo albums in order to scan their photos.  He plans to attend a hometown high school reunion later this fall.  He hopes to "collect" photo albums from cousins and classmates.  I have been struggling with this for several days without any good ideas.
The scanned pictures lack any text (added as a layer?) or captions.  Creating a slideshow (on my dad’s computer is slow).  Also, a slideshow doesn’t let others select individual pictures to save from the slide show
He has old pictures pre-PSE 4 that allowed him to add captions directly to the picture when it was scanned.  I never liked this approach as it "destroyed" the actual picture but these old pictures are more easily shared as individual pictures.
How do you share thousands of pictures with text and captions outside of PSE?  Can you save or export a composite picture with all the layers?
Thanks in advance for your help and replies.

I think it is one of the printer option screens that gives me the choice of tabbed 4x6. All of the choices specifiy HP or Other so I am pretty sure it is printer software that offers me this choice.
Make sure your image has a 4x6 aspect ratio. I have been quite happy with the tabbed 4x6. Just need to remember to load the paper with the tab last.
So, in elements you set to 4x6, in printer options you should be able to choose 4x6 tabbed paper.
