How do I take 4 frequency readings with a USB-6251?

Can I take frequency readings on 4 different digital input channels of my USB-6251? I am using 1 of my counter channels for a Pulse-Width output. Can anyone show me some example code for this or explain how to attempt this?

Hi JMBacker,
You can make a frequency measurement from
you digital lines, but you would have to do it in software. To actually
take a frequency measurement in hardware you would have to use a
counter input.
In order to do this with your digital
inputs you will have to know your sampling rate, and do some
manipulation to the array of values that you get when reading the
values from the port. You would only be concerned with the 4 lines of
the port you configure. Once you store that data in the array you would
have to check for the number of samples between two transitions from 0
to 1, then multiply that by (1/sampling frequency) and take the inverse
of that value. This will give you the frequency value of one period of
your input signal. You would have to do this process with each of the 4
desired input lines in one port.
Attatched is an
example program that takes that measurement and computes the frequency
in software. This is in LabVIEW version 8.2.1, but can be used in any
version at or newer than that version.

After looking at a few of the links I found a mathematical equation that assisted me.
Inches = Pixels/DPI
eg: 3 inches = 300 pixels/100 DPI
Using this equation and the fact that iPhone 4s takes photos that are 3264 x 2448 I was able to work out the largest print I could make with 300 DPI.
Width 3264 pix/ 300 DPI = 10.88 inches
Height 2448 pix/ 300 DPI = 8.16 inches
Therefore, the largest print (with 300DPI) I can make of these photos is 10.88 inches x 8.16 inches.
Which is great!
So is it critical for me to change the dpi in say photoshop or does it not matter as long as I don't go above the 10.88 inches x 8.16 inches?
From what I can gather the smaller I resize the photo the higher the DPI and the bigger I stretch the photo the lower the DPI?

How do I take a thermocouple reading with a pci6025E? I have seen some postings with scxi-1112 modules which I do not have. I need advice from the ground up. Do I need external circuitry, can I just wire both leads of the thermocouple to Ain0 differential pins, what vis are necessary in the actual programming... If there is an example program or anything else that might seem relavent? I appreciate any help.

This is most probably a result of multiple factor that make the measurement imperfect:
- You're not using signal conditioning, so your resolution is definitely very reduced. Any temperature drift in the board could cause a big difference in the reading. I recommend you run your vi for approximately half an hour, unplug the accessory and perform a self calibration. This will have the board at the operational temperature you're expecting and will give you the best results.
-I personally would recommend using a different sensor type (RTD or Thermistor) as the CJC source, in order to obtain an accurate measurement, otherwise you have a bit of a "chicken and egg" problem, because you're using thermocouple 2 as the CJC for thermocouple 1, but what are you using as the CJC source of thermocouple 2?
- Are both your thermocouples of the same type and manufacturer? Due to the nature of the thermocouple itself, you can find slight variations between thermocouples from different vendors, due to the purity of the metals used. While this would usually be almost impossible to detect, it might be driving your voltage just enough to be in the next detectable voltage step (again, due to the reduced resolution).
- I've worked with temperature sensors for a while, and I'd still recommend that you try some sort of signal conditioning in order to increase your accuracy. Even a small amplifier and a passive lowpass filter will do great. I know you said you don't have SCXI, but if you want some lower cost ready to use applications you might consider looking at the SCC Carriers and modules we have.

When using the LabVIEW Simulation Module, how can I start a frequency sweep with the Simulation Chirp signal generation VI at an arbitrary time after the simulation initial time?

I'm using the Simulation Loop on LV RT when interacting with some hardware (i.e. all I/O is happening in the Sim loop). I'm going to conduct a frequency sweep test on the hardware and want to use the Simulation Chirp function. However, there is no way (that I can see) to trigger the Chirp to start at some event (i.e. I click a boolean on the front panel and enter a case statement). The Chirp is tied to the global time of the Simulation loop and so are it's input parameters. Is there a way to make it relative to some time at which an event happens?

Your solution will 'cut' the beginning of the signal and only show the signal afterwards.
To control when the chirp should start, the best option is to use the Chirp Pattern.vi ( in the Signal Generation palette) and use a Lookup table to control when to feed the time. The shipping example (in LabVIEW 2013) shows how to code using a lookup table.

Yes sir. It w was really hard to explain. It is discontiguous segments that are separated by transparent areas. And I want those non transparent areas to be on their own layer. I have a photo shop file that has a bunch of buttons on them and they are on a transparent background. It is one layer. I want to select all the buttons and put them on their own layers.
