How do I trim lines?

I am new to illustrator. Please explain in detail how to trim the dash lines so they don't go past the "edge" of the thermometor on the right. When I try to clip or use any tools basically it deletes the entire line or distorts it. See picture.

Sorry, I was, presumably wrongly, thinking of filled paths as the rounded lines. I now believe they are just simple paths with heavy strokes. Is that right?
If it is, you may place the copy of the outer (white) path in front, select that and the lines, and Object>Clipping Mask>Make.

Basic printing questions with safe zones, trim lines and bleeds

I am working with a file that has safe zones, trim lines and bleeds. If I place something that touches the outer edges of the document at the bleed zone, how will it display if there is a trim line before it? Won't it be trimmed anyways?

Consider the bleed a precautionary measure in the case of registration variance when cutting the actual printed product.
So it should be cut off, but it may actually become visible (partially).

I'm trying to learn illustrator cs2 on my own and am having some issues with a few basic functions. I am drawing shapes using the rectangle, ellipses and trying to join them together. How do i trim 2 lines together to make a corner. I would like to cut off the exess at the ends by cutting to the other lines. I know this seems basic but I can't figure it out. In the end I want to make a figure using all the drawing tools ( pen, line, shapes etc) and have the outline just one feature. help please

Seems to effectively 'fool' Illustrator into using pathfinder by 'filling' the lines, which seems like a contradiction. Still quite alot of steps to accomplish a simple corner trim, haven't counted the 'clicks' but suspect it is about the same - or perhaps more by the time you've reallocated the line thicknesses - than using the Scisors.
Anyhow, I'm not sure if either of the previous replies were yours. IMHO the following:

It simply seems to be asking how to perform a basic line-work function that Illustrator just happens to make a right old meal out of. AI deals with complex filled forms in any number of clever ways, but there is an anomaly by which two simple crossed lines that one wants to trim back seem to require multiple steps.
The next section of text gives lots of possibilities but no method or sequence.
You say that "What is rude to one is valuable advice to others." I would suggest that advice can be rude and valuable simultaneously, but that the best advice is also valuable but does not make the recipient feel belittled.
Anyhow, I suspect Shorrtty would be the best judge of that. However, I note there was no grateful thanks as has been for some of his other answered questions.

If u use templates or table,then use borders to print the horizontal lines.
Eg : Create template-->Table painter->click select pattern button->Display framed pattern->select 3rd one.it will display only horizantal lines.
if want to print horizantal line under the text, then create one paragraph or character formate with Underline in smartstyles.Use that paragraph or character to u r text element

specific.Well, if the correct line separator sequence (by far not always \n) would be used, it does add a new line to the HTML output. Too bad that you don't want to see HTML but formatted text. The BR tag is a formatting element for the displayed text, not a line break in HTML. ;)

I'm not sure why people are torturing themselves with Pages 5 given the nearly universal outcry on this forum and the incredibly negative reviews elswhere, such as the App Store.
Pages 4.3 should still be in an iWorks folder within your Applications folder. Just use that.

I have a request, help me please !
In system I have a invoice with 1 line item value 1000 USD.
Customer payment 600$. a incoming payment with value 600$ will post to system.
I want incoming payment and invoice will auto clear 600$ but system can't auto clearing because value is not Identical.
I want line item of invoice will split to 2 line item. Line item 1 value 600$ and line item 2 value 400$.
Line item 1 of invoice will auto clear with incoming payment and system will exist a invoice with 1 line item value 400$.
How to split a line item to 2 line item ? Have FM for split a line item to 2 line item in SAP ?

Goto Your GUI status.click on your MENU bar.
under the menu bar you will have your own menu items.
where ever you want separator line do the following way.
you will have 2 columns under menu bar
1) code
2) text.
under code dont put anything.
but under text column you put dashes and enter or select right click there and choose separator line.
you will get separator line.
activate and run the ztcode.you will get .
code text

I have two accounts now, how do I trim them down?

It seems like I have two accounts now and can buy apps and various things through both accounts depending on which one comes up. One is Pre-MobileMe and the other is a mobile me account and now heading twards iCloud.... so How do I trim them down and in the long run... access the music purchased through the first account and transfer it into the most recent iteration of my world here at Apple? thanks

if the data is multiple i.e. line items choose table.
if the data is single i.e. fixed choose template.
Create table
> Draw u r no lines
> choose option select pattern
> select display framed patterns
Choose u r required one.
out lined, or full lined. u can choose option.
same procedure to be followed for template also.

How to draw horizontal line in smartform after end of the all line items

I am working on the smartform. I have created TABLE node in Main window.
i want to draw a horizontal line after end of the main window table node. i mean after printing all the line items of the table, I need to print one horizontal line.
Could you please help me how to resolve this issue.
FYI: I tried with the below two options. But no use.
1. desinged footer area in the table node of the main window.
2. tried with uline and system symbols.
please correct me if i am wrong. please explain in detail how to draw horizontal line after end of the main window table.

1 - in your table, create a line type with only one column, with the same width of the table
2 - in table painter, create a line under the line type
3 - insert a blank line text in the footer section with the line type you have created.

I need to make a table of contents.
Some of the chapter headings are very long and fill more than a single line.
When I create my table of contents, I want the second lines to be 'pushed in' in the table.

I thought I had solved it by having the actual chapter headings indented like this, but the table of contents overlooks this/overrules this.
