Help!  Am new to Mac and have managed to download and install something called Genieo.  I can not uninstall it.
I have gone into applications but it is not on there. Everytime I go into safari it is on here.  Not a technical person, actually my sons say I'm useless on the computer. But no one else in the house has ever used a macbook pro!! Can someone please help me?

  • How do I download off the internet without it going to textedit?

    When I try to download off the internet it opens it with textedit, I know how to change what it opens with but I don't know what to change it to.

    For whichever file type you are trying to download (.SIT, .MOV, .DMG) usually the software that is designed to handle that file type (which needs to be previously installed) will automatically open. It sounds like you are downloading a file type that you have no app installed to actually open.
    As the post before mine replied, we would need to know the file type/extension to better answer your problem.

  • Firefox is preventing some files from downloading off the internet

    Today I had to go to the Dell website to update some drivers for my laptop. Every time I downloaded the driver file from the site to the download manager and then clicked on it to run, I would get a message that there was no file to download. The tech from Dell then had me download Google Chrome and the downloads went smoothly without a hitch. Something in Firefox is preventing the Dell files from downloading. I need instruction on how to correct this problem. I am also wondering why when I go to download files using firefox I do not get an option to run the file instead of save it. II only get the option to save it and then have to click on it from the download manager to run it. I would like to change this as well if possible
    Thanks,
    Maria

    It is possible that you run into this maximum (the default value is 20):
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/dom.popup_maximum
    To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
    If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
    *Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
    *Preferences that have been modified show as bold(user set).
    *Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

  • How do I save a picture off the internet and where is it stored?

    I wish to save photos people post on the internet or in Facebook but I don't know how to.  I am new to Mac computers.   Could someone please tell me how to do this and when they are saved, where can I find them?  I don't see anything new in iPhoto or iCloud.   Thank you to anyone who can help me with this.

    To move the images to iPhoto, open iPhoto and under File click New Album if that is where you want the images to reside, then drag and drop the images to that new album.
    You don't say what Mac you are using, so three approaches to right click:
    1.  Open System Preferences, then Trackpad if you are using a MacBook Pro or Air and do not have a mouse, then under Point and Click check Secondary Click.  That is the right click function:
    2.  Open System Preferences then Mouse if you are using an iMac or other desktop or have a mouse with a laptop, and under Point & Click check Secondary Click:
    3.  You can also gain the right click function by doing Control-click on either a mouse or trackpad if you do not want to turn on Secondary Click.

  • How do I save images downloaded from the Internet?

    I have the URL to an image stored on the Internet. Is it possible to open a connection and store the image on my computer? I'm not totally new to this, I've written a small program that could read text files from an ftp server, but it's my first try at downloadning images. Here's the code I'm using
    String wwwfile = ....;
                   System.out.println(protocol+host+wwwfile);
                        URL url = new URL(protocol+host+wwwfile);
                        URLConnection urlc = url.openConnection();
                        InputStreamReader reader = new InputStreamReader(urlc.getInputStream());
                        File file = new File(path,fileName);
                        OutputStreamWriter writer = new OutputStreamWriter(new FileOutputStream(file));
                        int c;
                        while((c = reader.read())!=-1)
                        writer.write(c);
                        reader.close();
                        writer.flush();
                        writer.close();
    When I read text files, I used BufferedReader/PrintWriter instead of InputStreamReader/OutputStreamReader. The picture I want to download seems to be downloaded, it's stored on the computer, but upon viewing the picture, the browser displays the icon telling me the picture is abscent.
    What is it that I'm doing wrong?
    regards
    simon

    Ah, this might be the problem. You're using an InputStreamReader and OutputStreamWriter to wrap the streams with reader/writers. This is bad. This will corrupt binary data.
    Try this:
            System.out.println(protocol + host + wwwfile);
            URL url = new URL(protocol + host + wwwfile);
            URLConnection urlc = url.openConnection();
            // Use InputStream/OutputStreams instead of Reader/Writers for binary data.
            // Otherwise it will get corrupted.
            InputStream in = urlc.getInputStream();
            File file = new File(path, fileName);
            OutputStream out = new BufferedOutputStream(new FileOutputStream(file));
            int c;
            while ((c = in.read()) != -1) {
                out.write(c);
            in.close();
            // You don't have to flush the file if you're
            // closing it right after.
            out.close();

  • How do I delete something downloaded from the newsstand

    Hhow to delete a download from newsstand?

    If it is an app in Newsstand that you want to delete, open Newsstand and then touch and hold down on the app for a few seconds until it stops jiggling and then tap the x at the top left and then the Home button.
    If it is some of the content within the app (e.g., one month's issue of a monthly magazine), how you delete that depends on the specific app. Many will have a settings icon (possibly gear-shaped) where you can manage and delete issues.

  • How can I transfer content which I downloaded off the internet from my ipod to my library

    ... I bought C418's minecraft volume alpha for 4 dollars, and backed up my ipod for the sole reason of trying to get it onto my itunes library. APPARENTLY, itunes only backs up purchased content. The album disappeared completely from my ipod! I'm beginning to lose patience with itunes...

    It seems that only third party apps will copy non-purchased music from your iPod to your library.
    If on a Mac, use this:

  • Can't download off the internet

    I keep trying to download maverick from the app store but it does nothing. is there somewhere else I can try. I would really like it so I can update my other programs. Help.

    If you download Mavericks from any other sources, it is pirated software and you could get some unexpected malware along with it. It's also a violation of the license agreement, so there's no telling what might happen down the road.
    When you say it "does nothing" do you mean it doesn't begin to download, it doesn't change from "purchase"?
    It is a very slow download process and can be misleading. Check to see if there is a loading bar under your AppStore icon on your Dock or in Launchpad.

  • Downloading off the internet

    do i need i tunes on the computer i'm using to down load tune or can i just plug in to the usb and download straight to the ipod

    You cannot download tracks straight to the iPod. They need to be added to your iTunes library and then synced to your iPod.

  • How do you download applications off the internet?

    Whenever I try to download an application off the intenet it comes up with a pop-up giving me two options, to either save the file or sleect which applciation to open with, when I save the file it saves to my desktop, and when I double click it it opens up with text edit, and is just pages and pages of weird letters and symbols, and I've tried most of my applciations and it never works. How do I download applications off the internet? Please help!

    If the file extension is .EXE, you are downloading Windows compatible software, you need software that is Mac compatible. What software are you attempting to download?

  • I do not have a fax machin, but get a fax message when I try to print something off the internet and can't get rid of the pop-up so how to fix?

    I have been dealing with this problem about a week. I have turned the computer completely off at night, but it does not correct the situation . I cannot print anything off the internet as long as the fax message is on there. I do not have a fax machine and do not want one.

    What is that fax message '''on'''? <br />Hard to understand how that is a Firefox support issue as Firefox doesn't have any fax capabilities.
    Perchance, do you have an all-in-one printer which can receive a fax message? Printer, scanner, and fax machine combined.<br />
    If so, try looking at your user manual for that all-in-one to learn how to print that message. Or consult with a support forum for that brand all-in-one printer.
    Or maybe your problem is with the Windows 7 Fax and Scan feature? <br />

  • How do I stop click-thru "'Firefox' is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?"?

    Every single time I launch Firefox 20 under Mac OS X 10.7.5 I get the click-thru warning message "'Firefox' is an application downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?". How do I stop this? There are internet postings and previous postings about solving this using Terminal commands for OS X 10.5.x & 10.6.x, but these commands do NOT work in 10.7.x or 10.8.x. This seems to be a Firefox ONLY issue, and solving it by globally turning off OS X security features as recommended before in a previously closed thread seems like a really BAD solution. Is there a "Firefox only" solution, or will I just have to stop using Firefox?

    I had upgraded to Firefox 20 using the automatic update process, so the last time I'd downloaded a .dmg and manually installed Firefox was a long time ago. I trashed Firefox 20, downloaded a new .dmg and manually transferred to Applications folder and this persistent message ended. I assume if I'd ever launched from the open .dmg the same error message would result, so the fix offered was a solution even though the cause was something different since I only used the automatic update process and never manually handled Firefox .dmg downloads.
