How do updates work if you download Apps with 2 different itunes accounts?

I am wondering what will happen when Apps need to be updated and they have been purchased on the same iPad but with two different iTunes accounts?
One person is signed in and purchases Apps and then signs out. The other person signs in and make purchases with another account.
When updates are available, you are asked to put in a password. Does it matter which password is used??
Will this be workable?
Thanks,
Prea

Your purchases are linked to your own iTunes account so in order to update you would have to log in with the one account to update the apps purchased from that account, sign out, then sign in with the second account in order to update those apps purchased with the second account.
Yes it matters which password you use. Separate accounts will require separate passwords in order to sign in and update apps.

How do I change the Apple ID associated with my iTunes account?
I have an apple ID that i have associated with my account but I want to change it to another ID that I just created.  I needed to create this new ID so that both my wife and I can use the ID for our shared iTunes account and then we each have our own apple IDs with our own calendars, contacts, etc.

Change it on what way ? You can update the primary email address on an account by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store on an iOS device and signing into the account, via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes or via http://appleid.apple.com
If you want to log out of the account so that you can log in with a different account then tap on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store if using an iOS device and sign out, or on a computer's iTunes use the Store > Sign Out menu option. Any content downloaded by the currently logged in account will remain tied to that account, so only that account will be able to redownload it and/or download updates to its apps

  • If I purchased apps with one Itunes account (hotmail) can I convert the apps to an Itunes (ME) account?

I purchased apps with one Itunes account (hotmail).  I then changed my account sign-in to a different email sign-in (ME) because of iCloud.  Can I easily convert the apps to an Itunes (ME) account when an update for each app occurrs?

Did you change your existing iTunes account or did you create a new account ? If you updated the existing account then you should be ok.  But if you created a new account, then as apps are tied to the account that originally bought/downloaded them and they can't be copied or transferred to a different account, only that original account will be able to download any future updates to them or re-download them on a different device.

  • How many apple devices can you sync to the same itunes account

I'm trying to sync 2 ipod touches with my itunes account along with my iphone. On one ipod, when I try to sync up it ghosts out my sync apps. I can purchase apps and they appear in my library but can transfer to ipod. Help!

This is a very odd problem, because it should connect to as many as you want. The problem could be a few things so check these and get back to me
see if iTunes is set to sync apps to that iPod
make sure the iPods are sighed into your apple account
make sure your computer is registered to your apple account
if none of these work, give some more information, the more the better when trouble shooting.

  • HT1296 how do you transfer music from one ipod to another with different itunes accounts?

I have a friend who has a first generation ipod that was synced with another itunes account.  He no longer has access to it and forgot login and password.  I bought him another ipod touch 4th generation.  I opened up a new itunes account for him.  He has 470 songs on the old ipod that we want to put on the new ipod touch.  How do we do it with two different itunes.  We wish to use the new account.  Thanks for any help

Copy the music for the old iPod to his computer by:
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device: Apple Support Communities
Then sync the new iPod to that computer.

  • Transfer purchased app to different iTunes account?

Is it possible to transfer an app I bought in the iTunes app store to a different iTunes account?
    (same computer, same iPhone)
In more detail, what happened was the following:
Usually, I logged in at the app store using my apple ID '[email protected]'.
A few weeks ago, I logged in using just 'zzz', and since that worked I did not think about it any further, assuming that to iTunes the two IDs are the same.
Then, I bought a few apps under the login 'zzz'.
But apparently, 'zzz' and '[email protected]' are NOT the same to iTunes!
(I think, that is a bug.)
How do I know? Because when I am logged in as 'zzz', iTunes shows in the sidebar that 8 apps have got updates, but when I click on "Check for Updates" I get nothing.
When I log out and then log in again as '[email protected]', lo and behold, I see all the updates when I click on "Check for Updates"!
You can also see, which account is attached to which app in the Info (cmd-I) of each app.
The problem now is that I have to switch accounts all the time, in order to get the updates, which is a nuisance.
So I would like to tell iTunes, that the apps I bought under 'zzz' should really belong to '[email protected]'.
Does anyone have an idea, how to do that?
All suggestions and pointers will be highly appreciated!
    Best regards,
    Gabriel.
    PS:
I already tried to delete one app, and then "buy" it again under the other account.
But I think, I really have to pay again, because when I do this under the same account, iTunes tells me that I have bought the app already and lets me download it again for free.

I don't think you can switch an app, but try emailing iTunes store support:

  • How can I share only the same music with multiple iTunes accounts

    Hello
I hope someone can help. [I am using Windows Vista (Unfortunately J) and iTunes 10]
I am trying to share the same music library with multiple iTunes accounts. Basically, I want to know if there is a way to automatically upload to other libraries when importing new music into my library, vice versa. [Better information below]
Me, my sister and my dad all use iTunes (on different iTunes accounts), and before now we used to have are own music on our own windows user. Due to many duplicates and a loss of hard drive space I have brought an external hard drive and organised all the music.
It was all going well - I first populated all the music onto my iTunes, exported the library, and then imported it on both the other users. However! Because this is only a copy of the library, when I try to import a new CD, it will not show up on there’s until I “Add File to Library”! Originally I thought about using the same library however we each have are own apps etc, that we don’t want to share.
If you need anymore information please ask!
    Matt

    Hello roaminggnome
Unfortunately the support is down at the moment, I will have a better look later. I did go though the Apple support previously, however I found nothing that worked.
The first thread I came across was “Home Sharing” however no mater what I did, it did not appear in the iTunes sharing list (I did go though the “Show Sharing Networks” support as well)
Secondly, I saw “Using A Single Library With Multiple Accounts On The Same PC” (Something like that) but all this did was let us share the same music location, if I was to rip extra music, it will not show in there library

  • HT204074 How do I see what devices are associated with my iTunes account?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627 contains this advice:
Your Apple ID can have up to 10 devices and computers (combined) associated with it. Each computer must also be authorized using the same Apple ID. Once a device or computer is associated with your Apple ID, you cannot associate that device or computer with another Apple ID for 90 days. You can view which devices or computers are currently associated, remove unused devices or computers, and see how long before they can be associated with a different Apple ID from the Account Information page in iTunes on your computer:
    Open iTunes.
Sign in to your Apple ID by choosing Store > Sign In from the iTunes menu.
Choose Store > View My Account from the iTunes menu.
From the Account Information screen, click Manage Devices.
Sadly, "Manage Devices" isn't actually there, so I can find no way of seeing which devices and PCs are associated with my Apple ID and how to delete or add to them.

Manage devices relates to the devices or computers you have set up to automatically download content from your iTunes account aka "iTunes in the Cloud". You can have up to 10 such devices. This is a separate list from the list of 5 computers that can be authorized to play your protected content. There is no similar feature to list this second group, but when you get to 5 computers you can choose to deauthorize all and start again. You cannot use that feature again for a year.

  • Download categories with Dutch Itunes account

Does anyone know how i could get access to downloading videos through the Itunes store? With my Dutch account the only categories I get to choose from are Music, Ringtones, Podcasts and Audiobooks. So when I search for 'Family Guy' the only results are podcasts and songs while one of my English friends has dowloaded entire series of the show... Thanks in advance!!

The material available in the iTunes store varies according to your country. This depends on arrangements Apple can make with content providers.
I am afraid there is nothing you can do about that.

  • I have a Verizon IPhone 4 and i can't figure out how to get my ringtones from an app to my iTunes account, it doesn't have a tab for Ringtones! I have tried unplugging it and checking if would show up but it didn't, how do you enable the ringtone folder?

I have a verizon IPhone and i can't figure out how to get my ringtones from the app to iTunes, my account doesn't have a ringtone section in the liRingtone Folder?brary, how do you enable the ringtone folder?

Edit > Preferences.  Select the check box for Ringtones, this will add them to the listing in iTunes.
Not sure that really answers your question though.

  • Can you put apps from two iTunes accounts on one device?

I just got an iPhone from work. I would like to put some apps I got for my personal iPod on it, but I also plan to purchase some work-related apps using a work-account (charged to the company card). Is this possible? From what I understand it would be possible to put apps I purchased for the iPod onto the iPhone, but I can't find if I can then use a new account to purchase more apps for the iPhone.
Can someone let me know if this would work? Otherwise I'll just buy the apps using my personal account and get reimbursed (not as neat, but I can't use the work account for personal apps!)

    Yes, you can do that.
You just have to remember from which accounts you bought which Apps when updating them, as you won't be able to update an App bought in one iTunes Account from another iTunes Account.
As far as purchasing new Apps goes - just log-in to the required iTunes Account on the computer you sync your phone to (which should only be one computer), purchase the Apps then sync them to the phone. If you want to purchase Apps from the other iTunes Account, log-out in iTunes then log in with the other iTunes account.
It might just be easier to purchase everything through the one personal account though...

  • Update an Single edition app with different (pro) account

    Hello,
I have question regarding updating SE apps.
    1. From what I understand you can still create single edition apps for ipads after May 1st with a pro account, correct?
    2. If I create an app now, with my CC account, can I later, after May 1st, create a professional account under a different name (company name, not mine) and update my old app? (assuming that my apple account and certificates stays the same)
    Thank you
    Alex

    1. Yes.
    2. Yes.
