How do you analyze a carrier frequency.

I usign the "Formula Waveform.vi" shipped with Labview 6i. The formula is a*cos(2*3.14*30000*t)*cos(2*3.14*1000*t). It basically ends up being a 30 khz waveform in a 1 khz envelope. When I use the Power Spectum.vi I only "see" the 30 Khz waveform. How can I view the 1 KHz envelope.

The spectrum of an amplitude modulated signal as you describe will be made of two peaks located at frequencies :
(carrier freq + message freq) and (carrier freq - message freq)
So, we should observe a peak at 29 kHz and a peak at 31 kHz when using the formula and values you mention.(Pls see attached VI)
If you are using a sine wave signal as a modulating signal, you may try to use the "Extract single tone.vi" in order to get the frequency of this signal - That's what is described in the attached VI.
You also need to make sure you are using appropriate sampling frequencies (>60kS/s) in order to respect the Nyquist criterion.
I hope this will help.
Gerald

  • DWH: how do you analyze fact and dimension tables

    Hi,
I was wondering how you analyze your fact and dimension tables.
Our fact table is partitioned per month. Each partition contains 4M rows and is 270 MB large. We are using 9 dimensions, 6 have about 50'000 rows (2MB), 1 about 1M rows (50MB) and 2 about 3M rows (200MB). All tables are compressed. The version of Oracle we are using is 9.2.0.5.
What I was wondering is how you would, using dbms_stats, analyze the fact and dimension tables. Which percentage would you analyze? On which column would you build histograms?

nope, but i could copy-paste the URL or I could copy-paste the entire thread from the other forum. Id did the one that made more sense to me.

  • How do you analyze your Siebel tables for best performance?

Do you use any particular script to analyze Siebel tables? We are having some performance degradation...
Do you use the scripts from Oracle support note 781927.1?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
We do not follow that document because many years ago we tried following it to the letter and the CBO did not perform very well. Once we saw this we spent many months coming up with a solution. Here is an outline of what we do.
    •     Implement the PPS init.ora settings on top of the ones recommended by Oracle for Siebel.
    •     Gather both schema and system (the Siebel documentation does not even mention these) stats according to our standards. Here we run dbms_stats for the Siebel schema and sample 100% of the rows and only collect high and low values (for all columns size 1).
    •     We always gather our stats in a test environment that is a recent copy of production.
    •     We always test our stats before moving them into prod. We use our SQL Playback utility to do this. Likewise you can purchase Oracle’s Real Application Testing.
    •     Once tested we then backup the current stats and copy the new stats into production.
The key point here is that we always test our stats. Almost 100% of Oracle DBA’s don’t do this but look for this trend to start changing. Would you ever move a new SRF into production without testing it?
If you are having performance problems and are licensed to use it Oracle’s AWR facility provides you everything you need to find and fix your issues.

  • Apple says not to carry your iphone near your body, but how are you supposed to carry it? What does everyone think about this?

Just curious, I don't see much about this topic, but apparently the radiation levels of this phone are very high. I bet most people carry their phones in their pockets, yet no one is asking about the fact that apple says not to.  Is this practical? Is this something to be concerned about? I don't care about a phone bending vs. my health being seriously affected.

I Suspect they are just covering their butts for possible future lawsuits. There are reports that some women who carry their (smaller) cell phones in their bra go on to develop breast rumors directly adjacent to where the phone usually sat. There are also studies that find nerve cell stimulation in the brain directly adjacent to the ear where a phone is being used. Three companies have now developed machines designed to use this effect to treat depression. There is much that is unknown about the effects of RF radiation, so phone companies logically want to avoid liability. No one really knows the risks.

  • How do you fix the 2 to 3 second voice delay when answering iphone 5 this is with multiple carriers and its unaceptable on a phone that cost almost 700 dollars it did not happen on my cheap prepay samsung

how do you fix the 2 to 3 second delay on hearing somones voice when answering the iphone 5 this happens on lots of  iphone 5s with differant carriers so its not one carriers problem its probably apples this is unacceptable on such an expensive phone and very irratating. my last cheap samsung t mobile 50 dollar pre pay never did this,im new in my  contract an will take the phone back if i have to put up with this for 2 years.other than that huge problem i love the phone. i dont understand why this did not get covered like the maps problem, cause its a lot of phones and its probably an ios problem.

    Wow!
I'm not going to be of much use regarding answers but I sure am going to watching this post like a hawk for any replies. My package is a slightly diluted version of this and I do find the BBtalk and data limits hard to make the most of as well.
If nothing else this totally highlights how complicated BT have managed to make their packages.
A cynic would assume that they are trying to catch us out at every step and for us to either be overspending or not really getting the moneys worth.

  • How do you measure frequency using the onboard counter on PCMCIA 6024-E

I am using LABView 6.1 and NI-DAQ 7.2 with a SCXI-1000 chassis and a PCMCIA 6024-E on a laptop. I need to measure a frequency of about 3KHz and would like to do that using an 1180 direct through connector.
Firstly, should I see this 1180 in MAX like any other module?
And secondly, how do I use this 6024-E card to measure frequency? Which pins are supposed to be used on it to measure, and will I see the counter run in the test window in MAX according to the frequency measured?
I know NI also have a frequency module for the SCXI chassis. So lastly, will it be better to use that, rather than measure directly off the 6024-E?
Any help, advise or comments will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Hello,
I think I can help out with some of your questions. First, the 1180 module wont show up in MAX since it is really just a feedthrough cable which allows you access to your unused signals from the DAQ card.
You definitely can measure frequency using your 6024E. An example installs with NI-DAQ 7.2 which shows how to accomplish this. To access this example go to the LabVIEW start up screen and hit the Find Example button. When the Example Finder opens up browse to the following location: Hardware Input and Output -> DAQ -> Counters -> DAQ-STC -> Measure Frequency (DAQ-STC).vi
This example measures frequency and has a connection diagram on the front panel. The documentation for the example can be accessed by going to File -> VI properties -> Document
ation, after you have opened the VI.
You are correct that we offer a frequency input module for SCXI (SCXI-1126). This module would be useful if your input voltages are non-TTL, or if you need to measure more than one channel of frequency signals. This module has an input range of +/- 250Vrms and 8 input channels.
I hope this helps! Let me know if there is anything I can help with or clarify.

There are a lot of posts in the forums today with people having problems with iMessage.   There was also a published outage yesterday, so it's possible there are still some issues that may be impacting you both.
I would just wait it out - I'm sure it will be sorted out soon.

  • How do you carry the darned thing around?

OK, this will sound like a really stupid question, but seriously: I've ordered a new RAZR MAXX and it seems absolutely enormous to me.  This will be my first "smartphone" and while I'm looking forward to all the features and functionality, I'm seriously wondering where I'll put it.  It seems too big to fit comfortably into a pants pocket (where I'm accustomed to carrying my ancient, tiny dumbphone.)  I see people at work who literally carry "smartphones"  around in their hands from meeting to meeting, placing them like status symbols on each conference room table.  I'm not into that, and would surely forget to pick it back up and would leave it behind at some point.  I see a few people with those belt holsters; let's just say I'm not seeing those as a fashion statement that's for me. So what does that leave?  How do you all do it comfortably (and without breaking it by, say, sitting on it?)

Jerry sometimes i put my Maxx in my Oakly Glasses Bag:  I put one in another for a little more thickness an Protection an they make for a really good thing to Clean the Razr's Display as the Bag is Made for this type of thing.  Jerry Here is Also the Body Glove Case Not a Big Picture but if you Click on it. The picture should get a little Bigger in size.. B33

  • How do you start to analyze

    Hi all,
How do you start to analyze previously coded programs?
For examle one comes and says you that I want this but you are new to company and do not know anything about the program.
Firstly you have to understand the code and then make the necessary modifications.
    But how?
It is not easy as writting the program from the beginning..
    Thanks.

    Do one thing....
First read the documentation of the code,( if the documentation is there)...
Else, read the comments properly....You'll then have an idea of the code.
You see the output first, by just pressing F8 and observe the output.
Then start debugging the code, it might take a long time for the first 2-3 reports, but you'll be habituated.... All the best.

    Pavan

  • VI Analyzer - How Would You Configure It for This Use Case?

My group has different people working on different LVPROJs for each software deliverable we have. Each LVPROJ uses our user.libs and instr.libs, as well as an overall "framework" that is the same for most LVPROJs.
I really think the VI Analyzer toolkit would be powerful for code reviews, but only if I can configure it in a way where which tests I run and what the criteria are can be saved and used on any project. I can't seem to get this to work for me. I want to save all those configurations, and use it on new LVPROJs easily - the easier I can make this process, the more inclined others will be to use this for code review. How would you do it? (if it's even feasible)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I suggest creating a .cfg file without a project linkage, but with all the tests selected and configured as you want...so a .cfg file with no "Items to Analyze" specified. Then, when working on an individual project, open that CFG file, add the project's top-level folder to the analysis, then save that CFG file with that project. This means you can't have the project linkage in your CFG file, but assuming your project is all within some top-level folder, that shouldn't be much of an issue, since the CFG file will be "linked" at that point to the top-level folder containing your project.

  • How you change the download frequency for a single Podcast?

I have iTunes 11.1.5 for Mac, and I can't find how to change the down load frequence , aka "check for new episodes" setting for individual podcasts. I've tried using the settings menu in the "My Podcasts" and the "List" podcast view. When I do this, I see these setting:
    Keep
    Download
    Sort Order
    Play Order
If I click on the "Defaults..." button, the top setting is "check for new episodes"
I have no problem with being able to change the  default download frequency setting, but I am at wit's end with locating where I can change that setting for individual podcasts.

    Bump.

  • How to know whether balance carry forward has happened or not

How to know , whether balance carry forward has happened or not for a perticular GL account or for the company code as a whole?

If the account is a balance sheet account, you can merely look at the beginning balance for the same balance sheet account for the beginning of the next fiscal year FS10N. The beginning balance will equal the previous year's ending balance. Since this does not happen automatically, you will know that carry forward has not been done if a balance sheet account has no beginning balance in the following fiscal year.
If you are talking about For P&L GL accounts, you can check the acvitity in the retained earnings accounts to make sure that they have been updated for the P&L activity. You can identify the retained earnings account by looking at the master data for the account in the section "P&L statmt acct type" and pulling up the menu to see the actual retained earnings account number.
You can perform carry foward (GVTR) as many times as you want but normally once it has been ran, any postings to a  previous fiscal year are automatically carried forward to the current year after that initial run.
