How do you input a equation in a mathematical format?

How do you input a equation in a mathematical format like the equation above? Thanks!

var radicand:Number = b*b-4*a*c;
if(radicand>=0){
var rad:Number = Math.sqrt(radicand);
var x1:Number = (-b+rad)/(2*a);
var x2:Number = (-b-rad)/(2*a);
} else {
rad= Math.sqrt(-radicand);
var s1:String = (-b/(2*a))+"+i"+(rad/(2*a));
var s2:String = (-b/(2*a))+"-i"+(rad/(2*a));

  • How do you copy an equation from grapher and paste it into numbers?

    Hi, my free trial for Mathtype ran out but I still need to be able to write equations and copy them into pages and numbers for my coursework. Is there a free alternative to Mathype that also carries out this function? Or, alternatively, is there a way to copy an equation from the grapher app that comes with Macs and paste it into numbers/pages. Thank you.

    select the equation in Grapher, copy

  • How do you insert an equation in a structured doc using DITA 1.2?

    Good morning,
    I'm currently in the process of structuring a set of unstructured user manuals using FM10 and the DITA 1.2 standard. I have my conversion table and templates setup and everything has been going well so far, but I can't figure out how to structure equations or insert new equations into a structured doc.
    FrameMaker flags equations as an unsupported element (see below) no matter where the equation appears in the map.
    I've looked through my element catalogue, but I can't find anything that seems like it would support an equation.
    In some of my research, I've stumbled across something called a mathML element, but that doesn't seem to be an available option for me. Is this something that's only available if you are using DITA specialization?
    If anyone has any ideas for how I can insert equations into my doc while keeping it inline with the DITA 1.2 standards, it would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    D'Arcy

    Framemaker handles equations in a special way that is not supported by DITA out-of-the-box (DITA relies on MathML).
    The only format that allows equations round-trip to XML and back to Frame is MIF (Maker Interchange Format) if the equations must be editable by FM's equation editor. This basically means that equations must be handled the same way frame graphics are handled and that requires some DITA spesialisation work.
    Look this article:http://www.kynosarges.de/FrameDita.html#Equations
    If you have a requirement that these equations should be usable outside FM environment, things get complicated. Framemaker can write equations out as graphics files instead of MIF, gif for example, but the equations cannot be edited any longer in Frame. It cannot write both during XML save.
    The ultimate solution would a special XML writer/reader that would store both the MIF rendition and graphic rendition into a spesialised equation-element and let applications use either of them. Or that  someone would create equation-MIF <-> MathML converter..
    We've done a few customer projects where XML content authoring keeps equations as MIF files and publishing, for example, to web writes out equations as graphics.

  • How do you input notes onto a musical score in Garageband?

    Hello, after a failed attempt at doing it myself i wondered if anybody else knew how to input notes onto a musical score on Garageband. When I say input notes I mean for example if the stave is there at the bottom is there a way which I can simply add a note (á la Sibelius) whether it be via a keyboard shortcut (cmd + n on Sibelius though obviously in Garageband this creates a new project). Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

  • How do you input guitar in GarageBand on iMac

    I've tried to input my guitar into GarageBand on my iMac, but have not been very successful. How can i do this?  I have iRig, and plug it into the back port, but that doesn't work.  I also have a USB Guitar Link that works with Amplitube 3 that is on the same iMac, but doesn't work with GarageBand.  I've tried changing the input choices under preferences, but no luck.  With the USB Guitar Link, the Audio Preferences menu gives me the choice of "USB Audio CODEC" and I choose that...but, that doesn't work either.  The ONLY thing that has worked is the "Built-In Microphone"...but that records everything in the room...and its of very low quality.  Any help is appreciated.

  • [SOLVED] How do you input monitor details in xorg.conf.d/ ?

    I've recently installed Arch on an HP box - quad core i3 @ 3.1GHz, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 6450 GPU / 1GB RAM;- it is using a Samsung SyncMaster 2443 24" monitor.
    [edit:] Using the open source xf86-video-ati driver stack. /edit
    The problem I have is that the X server thinks that the monitor isn't capable of handling more than vesa - in this case 1024x768 res'.
    If I change xorg.conf.d/20-gpudriver.conf  from vesa to ati, or create a .../20-radeondriver.conf with radeon in it the X server fails to start, stating that the screen found was unsuitable?
    So, how do I get around this? This monitor was previously being used on an AGP nVidia GeForce 7950GT very happily at 1920x1200.
    I've searched & not come up with info' on this. The data on the X.org wiki is out of date in this regard.
    Thanks for your time.

    I just ran the following command:
    sudo hwinfo --framebuffer | less
    {I didn't really need to pipe the output to less, but if you don't use the --framebuffer option you certainly do (well I did anyway).}
    Which gives me this output:

    So now at last I understand (I had wondered about this) my graphics card supplies only the above vesa resolutions. This is why I see all of them being tested in the Xorg.0.log & I don't see 1920x1200.
    I can at last put this one to bed.

  • How do you input/upload the templates for Heart Rates, EKG, etc. onto an already existing form of LabView?

    I have LabView 9.0 and I remember last year when I got it I had to go through several steps in order to upload the templates for Heart Rate, EKG, and Blood Pressure.  However, since then, several of my computers have been worked on within the district and the templates are no longer on the main page anymore and I have forgotten the steps to completete to get them back.  Can anyone help me??!!

    What main page are you referring to? Are you referring to the Getting Started window that has the "VI from Template..." link that pulls up a dialog to select the type of file to create? That has a tree node that you can navigate and there's a VI -> From Template -> User node. If you place the template in the <labview>/templates folder then they will show up in this node.

  • How do you input an ip address on a deskjet 3050a j611 series. it was working fine

    I have an deskjet 3050A all in one series J611.  It has been working great.  I had printed some documents earlier with no problem.  No it is saying can not connect due to not being able to connect to wireless router.

    The first round of troubleshooting would probably be to reset the whole network.
    1.  pull the power from the back of the printer and from the wall
    2.  shut down computer
    3.  reset the router by unplugging it for 30 sec
    4.  wait until all the lights on the router are back on
    5.  turn on the computer and let it get connected to the router
    6.  reconnect the printer--it should power up on its own
    This routine usually fixes a lot of issues.  Let me know if it works or doesn't.

  • How do you vary the Date/Time stamp format in File Adapters

    In the receiver channel of the File Adapter where you specify the 'File Name Scheme', you do have the option of specifying a 'File Construction Mode' of 'Add Time Stamp'.  How can you specify a different Date/Time stamp format ( eg MM/DD/YY vs YYYYMMDD vs MMDDYY, etc. ) without changing the Date/Time stamp for the entire SAP system?  Also, can you control where the Date/Time stamp appears in the filename?

    Hi,
    There are many threads discussing the same issue. Go thro the following:
    Dynamic file name (Date) in Receiver File Adapter
    Receiver File Adapter - TimeStamp
    Bhavesh's reply in above thread:
    You can use Adapter Specific Identifiers and then change the file name in the mapping. Append the tiem stamp in the format that you want and so on.
    Just use this code in an UDF,
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
    String SourceFileName = conf.get(key);
    java.text.SimpleDateFormat dateformat = new java.text.SimpleDateFormat( "yyyyMMdd" );
    dateformat.format( new java.util.Date() );
    String newfilename=SourceFileName+dateformat;
    // change to new file name
    conf.put(key, newfilename);
    return "";

  • How to insert input into diffrential equation models in LabVIEW

    Hi,
    I am trying to model a system expressed in a set of differential equations.
    using the differential equation function in LabVIEW you can define
    a differential equation of the form:
    dy/dt +y=0
    Into LabVIEW. But How do you insert the input u(t) into that.
    Even in example in the student edition of LabVIEW (the book) in pages 437-443
    it explains the differential equation set up, but where the input function u(t) will go?
    Thanks

    Chances to get a good answer for this question will increase largly if you post it to the LabVIEW board rather than to the motion control board.

  • How to you use more than one input with an audio interface

    Looking at the PreSonus FireStudio Mobile. Nice little box. It says that it has 10 inputs, 2 are the usual XLR/-1/4" type and there are 2 gain control and 2 meters. But there are 6 other inputs on the back. How would one use those? With only 2 gain pots on front? Also how do you configure LE to take those all in? I generally record on track (input) at a time. But what if I want to record more? How do I do that?
    Thanks

    Yes. If you are in the Photos app in thumbnail view (i.e. the photos are not full screen), then if you tap the icon top right of the box with the arrow coming out of it, you should be able to select up to 5 photos and be able to then tap the Email button top left to attach them to an email

  • How do you keep a VI running while waiting for user input?

    I have a VI that:
    1.  The user enters set points.
    2.  The user starts the VI and the VI sends the set points to an external process via a serial interface.
    3.  The VI  stops running.
    4   The user waits for the external process to complete.
    5.  Repeat sequence. Go to Step 1.
    This works well except for one small problem.  Starting the VI in step 2 causes an external micro controller to reset.  During the reset it will ignore set point commands.  To get around this problem a delay has been added between when the VI opens the serial port and when the VI sends the set points to the external process   Is it possible to keep a VI running continuously in this type of application, thereby eliminating the start up and shut down of the serial interface?
    If yes, how do you keep a VI running while waiting for user input?
    Howard

    The ones for the event structure specifically. I'm posting from my phone. Look at the basic ones for user input. even a simple while loop with a boolean and a case statement would work.
