How do you keep your iPhones and iPads separate under the same apple id

I have a family of iPhones and iPads and one apple ID, well needless to say each device is getting face time calls and text messages from eachother. I might add it makes for some pretty interesting conversations. I would like to learn how to keep each device seperate under the same apple ID, or would it be better to set up seperate ID's for everything? Anyways, any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

The first time an iPhone is connected to iTunes that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or to set up the iPhone as a new iPhone.
The former does as provided - it transfers the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device to the iPhone replacing all data on the iPhone that is included with the backup being transferred. The latter does nothing allowing you to make your various selections for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
This is designed to be done right away with a new iPhone.
If you don't have a backup for the iPhone with iTunes on your computer and don't have an iCloud backup that hasn't been updated since choosing to transfer the backup for your iPod Touch to the iPhone, the data that was on the iPhone is gone.

How do you connect your iphone to a mac so the calender gets updated wirelessly?

If you mean using iCloud, you go to Settings>iCloud on your phone, sign in with your Apple ID to create your account, then turn Calendars (and anything else you want to sync with iCloud) on.  Then on your Mac, go to System Preferences>iCloud sign in with your iCloud ID and check Calendars (and anything else you want to sync with iCloud).
This requires iOS 5 or higher on your phone and OS X 10.7.5 or higher on your Mac.

    Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem.  unplug it for about 10 seconds.  Plug it back in.  Do the same for Apple’s routers.  Wait for everything to reboot.
    System Preferences>Network
    Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

  • I changed my Apple ID to a new email address. I cannot get my Iphone and Ipad to recognize the new Apple ID.

I changed my Apple ID to a new email address.  Now I cannot get my Iphone and Ipad to recognize the new Apple ID ... and I cannot access the old Apple ID because it does not recognize its password any more ... and I cannot change the password ... and there seems to be no one to ask about this.  Any help?

I tried but it won't let me even access the old Apple ID.  It won't recoginze its old password and will not let me make a new one. (The site tells me it has sent an email to let me change the password but the email does not come.)

  • If i have multiple iPhones and Mac Mini sharing the same Apple ID, can I use Facetime between the devices?

if i have multiple iPhones and Mac Mini sharing the same Apple ID, can I use Facetime between the devices?

Yes, but if you want these devices to have complete capability of calling each other they each must have their own separate, individual e mail address.  If they don't have individual e mail addresses, the i phones will be able to call each other because you'll be using their  individual phone numbers -- the Mac mini will be able to call the i phones, but, the iphones will not be able to call the Mac mini.  This is because the iphones will be using the mini's e- mail address to make the call, and if they have the same e mail address, they will think they are calling themselves, so the call will not connect.
So, the way I see it is,  if you keep all of the email addresses the same, the only thing you'll loose is the ability of the iphones to call the mini.
EDIT:  Thinking about it, my first sentence needs to be modified.  Your iphones can share an email address but it must be different from the Mac mini address.
This isn't rocket science, but it can make your head spin. LOL

  • How do I keep the iPhone and iPad separate from the iPod touch?

I have an iphone and an ipad and we just got our daughter an iPod touch. Is there any way to set her up on the iTunes on the computer that I use with my iPhone and iPad but not have the iMessages synced? Example...it shows up as me when she messages family and friends so they don't know it's her and I don't necessarily want her to receive and have access to all my iMessages. :) Any help would be appreciated!

  • How do you keep your ipod apps after updating to the 4.0 upgrade?

I first backed up my iPod touch to keep all of my apps. Then I updated it to 4.0, when I got finished it didn't have any of my apps except the original ones from the iTouch. So I went to click restore from back up and it said that the 4.0 update would go away if I restored from backup. So how do I keep my apps and the update? I have bought some of the apps and do not think it would be fair to re buy them.

No, a backup won't do anything, you need to check your sync settings and then re-sync.
1- Connect your Touch to iTunes
2- Verify that your App sync preferences are set correctly
3- Verify that all your other sync preferences (Music, Video, Podcast) are set correctly
4- Click Apply if you made any changes, or click Sync to initiate a sync w/o any changes.
Assuming the missing Apps are in your iTunes, they should be added to your Touch after you re-sync.

  • What if you lost your iphone and can't remember the icloud account because the phone was previously your boyfriends?

What if you lost your iPhone 5c and forgot the Apple ID because it was your boyfriends old ID, what then?

I cannot speak for either, but Apple does not get involved in tracing stolen phones.  If "Find my iPhone" cannot be used, there is no other way of tracing the phone. Sorry.

  • IPhone and iPad linked to the same gmail id

I use the same gmail id for iPhone and iPad. I recently sold my iPhone 4 and upgraded to iPhone 4S. Both are tagged to different phone numbers. However when the person who bought the iPhone from me sends as SMS  to his friends, both the sender's message and reciever's SMS are displayed in my iPad.
How can I delink the gmail account of my old iPhone? Will that stop this issue I am facing. Moreover under the current scenario, when I log into gmail to download or buy apps, is this accessible to the person with the old iPhone.
    Anyone with solutions/ advise please?

  • HT3529 Can I set up an iphone and two itouches to the same apple id and use imessages?

I would like to set up my daughters Itouches on my Itunes account so I can manage them.  Will we be able to use imessages between my iphone and the two itouches if they are all registered to the same apple id?  I tried to put a different email for the itouch but it will not allow me to send a message.  Would appreciate any help!  How does this all work?  Or will they need thier own apple id and itunes account?  I am hoping not  as it is much easier to manage all the devices and music from one account! :-) Thanks!!
