HT1918 how do you know what computers are authorized to use home share before i delete a computer
how do you know what computers are authorzed to use an I tune account?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
There is no way to view a list of authorised computers. You can only tell a computer is authorised from that computer itself, from the store menu in iTunes. -

How do you know if your Iphone app is connecting to the internet?
I'm a brand new Iphone user and I have a question about apps. I only have the smallest data plan. I'm wondering how do you know if your app (or any app you download) once opened connects to the internet?
For instance I have a Netflix subscription. When I hit the Netflix app is that connecting to the internet? When I watch a movie or tv in my own que is that still on the internet?
Or what about the Kindle app or iBooks? Is it on the internet to read?
Those are just two small examples. I'm having a hard time figuring out which apps to download based on if they connect to the internet for their use.As a general rule, if the app stores all of its data locally on your phone, a data connection is not needed for that app to function properly. If the app does not store data locally on your phone...streaming apps(Netflix), the built in Maps app, etc., a data connection will be required for the app to function properly. You can minimize your cellular data usage by only using such apps when connected to available WiFi. You also have the ability to turn cellular data completely off in settings: Settings>General>Network>Cellular Data>Off. Best to completely read an apps description before installing such on your phone. If a data connection is required for the app to function, it will state such in the app's description.

How do you make a photo an attachment and not in the body of the email
How do you attach a photo as an attachment and not in the body of the email?
If you attached the photo using the attach icon or attach command, it will act as an attachment on the recipient's end, even though you see it in Mail in the body of your message. If you drag and dropped your photo into your email, it will act as a placed graphic in the body of your message.

HT4972 How do you save your photos, Are they saved in the back up?
So you know how when you plug in your apple device the tab for saving your pictures in a
certain folder comes up,
Well that thing doesnt show up and I dont know how else to save my photos. When you
back up your device on itunes does all my photos in my ipod get saved in there.- Photos in the iPod's Camera Roll/Saved Photos album is included in the backup that iTunes and iCloud makes.

How do you delete a photo or album in iPhoto on an iPad?
I want to delet some photos on iPhoto on my iPad. How do I do it?
Thanks for your help.
VernonVernon,
how did you create your album or import your photos to iPhoto?
Not all photos and albums can be deleted iPhoto. If you synced the photos from your Mac, they can only be dleted by removing them from the synced albums on your Mac and syncing again. Only photos taken with your device can be deleted directly from your device using the Photos.app. Photos in the edited album, or tagged albums will be removed from these albums by removing the tags.
Delete photos
Depending on how your photos and video clips were added to iPhoto, do one of the following:
Photos and video clips taken with your device: Open the Photos app on your device, tap Camera Roll, tap to select the photos, and tap .
Photos and video clips you synced to your computer using iTunes: Connect your device to your computer and, in iTunes, deselect the photos and video clips you want to remove from your device. Click Apply, and click Sync.
Photos in the Beamed, Photo Box, iTunes, or [App] album: Tap a photo, tap (tap Edit if you don’t see the tool), tap Delete Photo, and tap Delete.

How do you know what programs are running?
Is there any way to tell from the Dock which programs are running? In Tiger there use to be a little black arrow underneath the app. What's changed in Leopard?
The default Leopard Dock indicators are a bit difficult to see with the light background and 3D glass effect. If you would like to have a different look then go to http://www.leoparddocks.com/ I'm using the "Revamped" design.

How do you know what type of file is included in the 'Other' section?
This is in regards to the capacity section in the summary tab of my ipod info. I have reached full capacity and cannot add any more songs to my ipod so would like to delete any unnecessary files. I have deleted all photos, most movies and TV shows. Only have a few movies and music videos in the Movies section.
Is there any way of finding out which files are included in the orange 'Other' section? Help!My son is having this same problem. He only has 64 songs on his iPod Touch so far, but the "other" space has almost filled the iPod. He has no photos, other than the usual album artwork, no videos, notes, contacts, etc. and has erased all podcasts. We don't see "enable disk use" on the Summary page when he connects the iPod to iTunes. So we don't know if disk use has been enabled or not. I also can't find it in the Help topics. Where do we locate the disk option to see if it's turned on? He doesn't want to Restore as he will lose the upgrade and have to purchase it again. He uses a PC, if that makes a difference.
Thanks for any insight. -
How do you know who in contacts can receive text messages on iPad?
I upgraded my iOS to 5 on my original iPad. Now I have messaging. However, I have no idea who in my 300 contacts have signed up. Some apps have a way of searching your contacts or Facebook friends to see if they have access to certain games like Words with Friends... Is there a way to determine who in my list of contacts that I can now send text messages to? iPad uses apple id (email) and iPhones, use their cellphone, but when I created these contacts, I had no idea if they had an iPhone or later upgraded to one, but kept the same tel #.
You are right. It's just inconvenient to go through them one at a time. Then a month from now to try to remember which of their email addresses was the one for their apple id or hmmm,.. Was it one of their phone #'s that I sent it to. We need an app! Remember AIM instant messaging, and you had a list of active participants? We need something like that, because just looking at a phone#, it could be an iPhone or not...

HT4859 how do you know what is backed up/restored from iCloud
How do you know what items are backed up to iCloud and also if the restore is correctly restored from iCloud. Are applications also backed up to iCloud
What is backed up
You get unlimited free storage for:
Purchased music, movies, TV shows, apps, and books

These movies will indicate that they are not available in iTunes in the Cloud on their product details page in the iTunes Store. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they have been refunded or are no longer available in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.
You get 5GB of free iCloud storage for:
Photos and videos in the Camera Roll
Device settings (for example: Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts)
App data
Home screen and app organization
Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS)
Ringtones
The following items are not backed up to iCloud. You can sync these items with a computer using iTunes:
Music, movies and TV shows not purchased from the iTunes Store
Podcasts and audio books
Photos that were originally synced from your computer -
How do you know a hard drive is bad?
how do you know a hard drive is bad?
From the OS X "Help" system:
Check whether a disk is about to fail
You can check the health of many disks in Disk Utility. Many disks include Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T) hardware, which lets a disk test itself for potential problems.
Open Disk Utility.
Select the disk in the list at the left.
If you see a message saying the disk has a fatal hardware error, the disk has an irreparable hardware problem that can’t be fixed by Disk Utility or any other utility that repairs software problems. Back up as much of the data on the disk as possible, and then replace the disk.
If you don’t see a message saying the disk has a hardware error but you still have problems with the disk, you can try to repair it with Disk Utility. -
How do you transfer photos to external backup and keep the photos in events with event name or with description name. Each time I have tried to transfer them they only transfer with a jpg number so you don't know what photos are what. When you have several thousand photos it is difficult to determined what is what.
Why does iPhoto have the ability to put photos in events and to give them descriptions if it doesn't transfer this info with the photo. I want to back my photos up to an external drive. The simplest way to achieve what you want is to back up the iPhoto Library. That will get everything.
You sem to be exporting from iPhoto to the Finder. The Finder does not have the same organisation capabilities as iPhoto. If you're going to do that you need to understand some of the differences between the two.
Event Name will become Folder Name.
'Description Name' I guess is the Title you give the Photo
Jpeg Number is the File Name assigned by your camera.
So: File -> Export
Set your Kind to Jpeg
Select your preferred Quality
Check the Boxes at 'Titles and Descriptions' and Location Information
Under FIlename select 'Use Title'
Click on Export. In the Next Window choose a New Folder as your export destination and then Name that as you prefer
