How do you save from Photoshop back to iPhoto?

How do you save your external edits from Photoshop back to iPhoto?
Fine, I know how it can be done ONCE : you simply flatten the image and then hit Save, and you see your edited image in iPhoto.
But, what if you FIRST want to save the .psd document complete with layers outside iPhoto, THEN flatten the image and save as a jpeg back to iPhoto? I tried this yesterday. I saved as a PSD file - with all layers and a new name - to my Pictures folder. Then I flattened the image and wanted to save it to iPhoto, but the temporary iPhoto location had disappeared from the Photoshop Save dialogue and Photoshop now displayed it under the new name.
This is annoying : you've got to save the PSD document first in order to preserve the layers. But when you do this, you lose the ability to save the image a second time, all layers flattened, back to iPhoto.

But if I'd flattened the psd without saving it as a psd, I could simply have saved it back to iPhoto (I've done that before).
Hold on - perhaps that's the answer...
What if..
1. I flatten the image and Save it back to iPhoto, then ...
2. Undo the 'flatten image' in Photoshop, then save THAT version as a psd?
I'll try this and let you know if it works.
ETA - Yay it works! Shoulda thought of that right off. I blame toothache

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

  • How do you save a Photoshop CS6 psd file as a template?

Trying to save a psd file as a template so the original cannot be altered or saved over. How do you do this?

Thanks - that is perfect. Also found a "read only" option for all. So you have to do a "SAVE AS" and can't write over the original.
    Thanks again.

  • My edited Raw photos won't save from CS6 back to iPhoto?

When I transfer a raw file via "edit in external editor" from iPhoto11 to CS6 and then edit it, I choose "Save", not "Save as", but then "Save As" dialogue box appears and I can't seem to enter anything that will result in the edited (now) jpeg appearing back in the iPhoto Library? Where am I going wrong?

Always flatten the image in Photoshop before saving.
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

To add to sig's reply, "calibrating" does not calibrate Lithiu-Ion batteries, it calibrates the charge reporting circuitry.  If you look at the effect of deep discharging Lithium-Ion batteries in the data from the independent test group, Battery University, you will see that doing so shortens the life of the battery significantly. It looks like an optimum balance between use and life is at a discharge level of 50%.

  • How do you save a report from VB?

How do you save an updated Crystal Report (CRXI) from a VB.Net (2005) program?
We're using the ReportDocument object model, not the CrystalViewer
& it appears there's a SaveAs method but not Save.Worse, the SaveAs doesn't seem to work. I get a convoluted error message that essentially says the file is in use, even when I'm saving it to a new filename. (The file it's referring to is the copy of the original file in the Temp directory.) I can post a screen capture of the entire error message if anyone thinks it will be useful.
    Thanks.

"Curiouser and curiouser. said Alice." I feel like I'm in Wonderland-the SaveAs works for some reports, but not for others. The task is to create an application consisting of a VB.Net program and a set of reports. The reports must be able to be run 'stand-alone' in Crystal Reports XI, and also to be run under control of the VB program. The report output is to go to PDF, not to be viewed online. It's absolutely amazing, to me, how little support there is for this type of thing. Why? Possibly it's considered simple-and it seems like it should be, except that some reports won't run under control of the VB program. When I got involved there had been a database change so the problem initially appeared to be running the VerifyDatabase command. (The reports being tested ran fine after they'd been fixed up in Crystal-but this wasn't expected to be the last database change so there was still a need for a programmatic fixup.) After running the VerifyDatabase command in the VB program the 'fixed' report couldn't be saved to verify that the report had been fixed-and it still wouldn't run. Now, I'm leaning towards the idea that the database change was a red herring. We've found some reports that have been fixed up but still won't run. Mostly they just 'hang'. If we get any output at all (usually after killing the application) it's the same record reported over and over. Anybody got any ideas?

Click and hold on the Save button, and a menu appears, listing each attached file’s name along with a Save As button. Select any individual file, and you’ll save just that attachment to disk. But the really nice feature is the final menu item—Add to iPhoto. That’s right; with one button click-and-hold, you can add all of a message’s attached images to iPhoto.

  • How do you save photos from import or Photo Stream to an album?

How do you save photos from import or photo stream to an album?  I have a MacBook Air (which keeps telling me my start-up disk is full) and I am trying to organize photos so there aren't duplicates and triples.  I have photos in events, last import, photos and albums....I feel like they are all taking up space.  If I move a photo from photo stream to an album, then delete the photo from photo steam its deleted from the album.  That doesn't make sense to me.  There should be a way to clean up photo stream, and events, and last import by putting photos into albums.  Even more bizarre; I imported photos from my 4S, and only a fraction of them transferred over.
I am completely lost.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you!
    sarah

and I am trying to organize photos so there aren't duplicates and triples.  I have photos in events, last import, photos and albums....I feel like they are all taking up space.
    Sarah,
Only the photos you are seeing in the events and the Photo Stream will take up space. iPhoto stores each photo only one. After you import it, it will be assigned to one event.
Then you can use it in many albums and projects. Using the photo this way will only reference the one single copy of the photo in the event. The albums don't store the photos and do not require additional space. If you delete a photo from an event, it will be removed from all albums that have been using the this photos.
What you are seing are not actually duplicate photos but different ways to access the same photos.
The "Last event" is the same event as the last one you imported. It is there for a quick access to your recently imported photos.  Photos is a quick access to all photos in your library as an endless stream of photos. These are also no duplicates.
So if you want to save space and delete photos, do that by browsing your events. Deleting a photo from an event will delete the original image file and remove the photo from all albums, books, and other products. You have only duplicate photos, if you are seing the same photo twice in an event.
Even more bizarre; I imported photos from my 4S, and only a fraction of them transferred over.
That is a different problem, but it may be related to to fact that you need to free space.
If you get a warning, that the system needs space, don't do anything but update the backup of your mac and move files to an external disk to free space.
It is not save to keep working, when the system is running out of space.
How much free space do you have? Anything below 15GB free space is really critical.
